I don't know. Art students also have a reputation for doing odd things to perfectly innocent pieces of furniture. Razz

I'm a biology student myself. In spite of what we like to claim its a lot like being an art student.
Only with a few more oppertunities to burn/melt/infect things.

Seems we have quite a number of post-secondary students among our number. I just finished my second year of Museum Studies. One more to go!

I have one more year left. I could have finished it by now but I choose to run like heck...erm...I mean...take a year out for experience, so I'm a little behind.

Actually I did do it for the experience as well, in my field practical experience means infinately more than a degree. Which is good considering my other reason was that trying to choose a dissertation project made my head spin and had me more than a little scared and running away for a year hasn't helped that situation at all.

One more year here too.

Oh, and...

MOTORIZED COUCH!

Of course, I had to ruin my plans of post-post secondary jobness with deciding to go all the way...to the DOCTORATE LEVEL <insert evil laugh here>

Oh, and I'm a Computer Engineering Student, if you wanted specifics. that means I can tell you more about what goes on inside your computer than even I care to know. But it's all fun in the end when you get to do cool stuff like...

MOTORIZED COUCH!

Oh, and to all the technical people out there: Join IEEE
My job as VP of Internal Affiars for the student branch of the IEEE is done for the day.

Wow, cool to know that so many other people here are students. To give you an idea of the laziness of the typical arts student, I go to uni three days a week, and during the days that I'm there I have two classes or so Razz. I tend to get little to no sympathy if I ever complain about workload or having to go to uni at different times.

Well, anyways, to remain a little on topic, as I said, I wouldn't mine helping out with the Archives. I'll understand if you'd prefer an older user though, as they'd definately know more threads than I would.

A Bump monster attacks!

Wow, this thread's certainly out of date Razz. Well, for those of you who don't know, I'm the guy who sorts out the Archives. As you can see, I've recently added the "EC vs Gameware" thread to the archives, which brings us to the grand total of 12 archived threads Very Happy. Just to save you a few seconds of browsing, they are as follows:

* EC vs Gameware
* The Cloister of Trials
* Forum Wars 360
* MDude's Creatures RP
* Dungeons for Dummies - A Crash-Course in RPing
* Pastry RPG
* Invisible (AAARRRRGGGGLLLLBLBLBLBLBL!!!)
* Forum Wars 2000
* The Bottomless Skull Shaped Basket!
* The Writings of DP
* What if we were all reunited in the same house?
* The Forum Wars

So if you haven't read any of those threads, why not check some of them out?

I'm also looking for quotes or ratings on these threads to entice those who have yet to read these threads to give it a try, so if anybody who has read these threads does have something interesting to say about them, then just post here, and I'll stick your comment up in the thread.

Finally, as always, please let me know if there's a thread out there somewhere that you feel belongs in the Archives. Contact me via PM or just post a link to it here - if I agree that it deserves to be there or enough people back you up, it's in! Very Happy

Heh, no, I haven't forgotten, I just don't see the point in archiving something that's right here. But if enough people want me to, then I guess I'll have to - personally I don't really mind either way.

Little while since an update, eh? Addman's arm must be getting tired, he's been patting my back for almost two weeks! *everybody groans at the crappy joke, and Addman collapses from sheer exhaustion* My God, somebody get that muppet a cookie, stat!

Anyways, onto actual news and not just me trying to be funny. Now, you might've noticed the disappearance of Forum Wars 2000 from the Archives. This was for two reasons:
1. It's now very dead, and hasn't advanced much beyond a few pages
2. Compared with the likes of the EC vs GW thread or Forum Wars, it really pales in comparison, and there wasn't much to make it really unique or special.
Now, before you jump down my throat throwing wild accusations of purging the Archives, I discussed this with Lep, the contributor of the thread, and she agreed to it's deletion.

Another change you might've noticed is the addition of polls! Surprised Yes, now you, the peruser of the Archives, can let your opinion be heard... sort of. Basically, this is to let people who haven't read these threads get a better idea of which ones people liked, as well as how many people have read them. Those who have already read it might find it interesting to see what others thought of it. It's based on the reader giving the thread a score out of 5, with 5/5 being a literary masterpiece and 1/5 being scribbles worthy of a men's room wall.

0/5 is a special score. I've implemented this so that you can alert me anonymously if I ever decide to put something that's either absolutely terrible or somehow offensive to people in the Archives. For now, if there's more than 3 votes for a poll to be deleted, I'll ask contributor if I may delete it and, should they refuse or not exist, then I'll ask the other staff here to vote on whether or not to delete it. It would also help a great deal if you could PM/e-mail me with the reasons why you feel that it should be deleted, if you don't want to comment on it in public.

On the topic of deletion, you may or may not have noticed the disappearance of the Archives during the EC Parents Plot as a ploy to freak you all out and make us laugh, and there's something I need to point out here about that. Under no circumstances will I ever permanently remove a thread simply because I feel like it. There is an actual process that I go through to do this, though I'm not actually obliged to I still go by this anyway. Firstly, I will PM the contributor (ie: the first person who told me to archive the thread) and ask them if it's ok to remove the thread from the archives. If they refuse to allow that without providing adequate reasoning, or don't exist (ie: I found the thread, or it was a group decision to add it to the Archives), then I'll ask the other mods and admins here if that's okay via a poll. If majority vote for deletion, then, and only then, will I delete the thread from the Archives. Should you ever wish to view a deleted thread, I'll most likely have a copy of it.

That about sums things up for now. I'm currently looking through a couple of threads people have suggested to be added to the Archives (you know who you are), and don't worry, I haven't forgotten. Most likely I'll be adding them sometime over the duration of the next week.

*3kul bumps this dead thread with such force that it becomes a ZOMBIE THREAD and rises up from it's grave Shocked*

So yeah, it's really been far too long since I last updated. I have no excuses. At all. Really. Feel free to pick up one of these flamethrowers and go nuts on me if you like, that's what they're there for... *points to the now rusted flamethrowers* ... Hm, I guess it has been a while... Well, the gun itself probably hurts if you want to throw it at me or something, you can give that a shot if you really want to.

Anyways, updatey goodness.

1) I've fixed the addresses for ALL of the current articles in the Archives (including the ever-popular EC vs Gameware thread), so you can all now download to your heart's content.

2) The Scroll of Ages is now up to date once more. As a side note, I've put the dates of the members of each style that were a blue belt or above as the date that they received their latest belt rank, and not the date that they received their first green belt. (Some Senseis of the various styles might also note that the Blackstar wiki is a little out of date for some of you)

Oh, and since I'm unsure as to whether or not Embri is or wishes to pick up her old title of Kumo Sensei I've simply put her as current with a question mark Razz.

3) I'm working on a few new threads for the archives. I know I said the exact same thing in my previous post, but I actually forgot about those, so it's not so much 'still working on' as it is 'getting back to working on'. The one I'm closest to finishing is a never-before-seen (unless you're an EC member) private EC RP, so look forward to it.

Which brings me to a reminder - if you happen to be in a special group (eg: The Guardians) or you're from a different forum and you have some kind of epic RP that you wish for us to immortalize, either pass a link on to me or if you don't want an EC member having access to your top-secret forum, you can do all of my work for me and make it into a .doc or .txt file and pass that along to me ( I do give credit where it's due too, which I guess is a bit of a bonus if you like that sort of thing).

If you want me to make it into such a file (ie: actually do my job), I tend to get things done a lot faster if your forum has a 'view printable version' option for your threads (this is why I loved archiving the EC vs Gameware thread despite the fact that it's one of our longest threads, the entire ordeal took me less than an hour! Very Happy). If it doesn't I usually waste a bit of time weeping in the corner (it averages out to be about 5 mins per page, 10 if it's a really long thread though Wink).

Good point, 3kul. Indeed, I will be taking up the mantle of Kumo-Sensei again - it's very little work at the moment, anyways.

Good to see active Moderatorship. It's much appreciated.

(For those Mods/Users who may be thinking "Well, not my fault anything's gone wrong in my subforum!" I'd agree with you ... and say that the Wiki is always looking for more attention. Razz )
