Will Barron is a broker of mercenary services. His primary client is a group of very unique fighters he "affectionately" calls "Barron's Raiders". The go by a number of names, but often call themselves "The Wildcards" -They go wherever the action is, wherever the money is, or wherever Will sends them!

They do not like the term mercenaries, they would rather think of themselves as "independent contractors" for hire.

The Wildcards include three top commanders:
Josh Kipling (Overall leader, highly intelligent, devious, charismatic,)
Debra Stockton (Tech, computers, Commands the Specialists, Pilots the drone aircraft and robotic "insects", and she makes the occasional new invention.)
Jack Woodman (Security, Strategy, Equipment, equipment design and construction. Commands the "Grunts")

They also include a group of especially well trained soldiers with special areas of expertise
Banger, (explosives, mines, IEDs, RPGs demolition, and the like) (F)
Mole (tunnels, traps, construction) (M)
Word (communication, drone assist, interrogation) (F)
Snipe (sniper, recon, infiltrator, spy, intell) (F)
Point (pointman, recon, spy, intelligence) (M)
Shifty (spy, infiltrator, intell, recon) (M)
Madge (Martial Arts Instructor, hand to hand, additional drone assist if needed) (F)

Plus, ten elite trained, special forces soldiers (grunts)
Capable of assisting any of the specialists when needed as well as fighting in the attack unit.

All are very stealthy, and trained in hand to hand fighting. Good shots. Wearing high tech camouflage. Wear helmets capable of dampening mental interference, (Better than the tinfoil hats from Signs )

Weaponry may include:
Knives, non-metallic
Pistols
Charged particle rifles
Rpgs
Crossbows (pulleyed)

Troop Transport (remember Transformers?)
amphibious/wheeled/hovercraft capability, very high speed, copter capability
Emp shielded, deflector shields, blast proof, non-metallic.
Large caliber machine guns
long and short range artillery
limited number of "cruise" style missiles

Pilotless Drone aircraft with similar strike capabilities, as well as the full scale of intelligence and reconnaissance capabilities
Intell drone spiders. Remote controlled, with wheels and/or mechanical legs (can be "sticky" or "grip for climbing
eves-drop/listening, visual recon, adjustable "mirrors" for the particle beams
also capable of being programmed for setting up mine fields, and delivering bombs
can be camouflaged to resemble the surrounding terrain

((I admit that these guys are a "work in progress", as I, the gamer, have only the "Special ops knowledge" gleaned from books and movies, and that needs to be modified to deal with the likes of all you "freaks", supernatural oddities, inter-dimensional misfits, shape shifters, monsters (cookie and otherwise), mages, demons, angels, norns, grendles, owls with attitudes, and parasites having perpetual bad hair days.))

Woo, Little Sister gets a special mention! Too bad HollowEyes didn't - I guess it's because HollowEyes is somewhat reasonable most of the time, whilst Little Sister is just really, really... not. Razz

Do you actually have a deal going with the Corporation, or is that just made up?

Well, in any case, it'll be interesting to see just how you weild a more concise army than most (it's, like, 24 Wildcards against a million X-Gorons Razz).

you forgot morphers.they are diffrent to shape shifters.

what you gonna do about ravil, anyway?the only thing that really hurts her is freewheeling, and to get her to do that you've got to use magic, and i don't think a bunch of humans have any magic.so unles you got a "freak" to help you disable her, your gonna be kinda stuck on how to stop her when she's fighting.

Ah, but what if it were possible to emulate the same frequencies as magic using technology though - not enough to make it magic itself, but enough to make it seem like magic? *puts a magic emulator next to Ravil*

*ravil shreads the machine to ribbons and hurls the remians at 3kul*

she only starts freewheeling if it's strong enough, and she has a nifty little tallent:when she's freewheeling,it's nearly impossible to kill her due to the fact she keeps changing shape.you cut her arm off when she's freewheeling and it will be formed again when changes shape.

why am i saying this anyway?you've got enough information to at least put up some form of defence against her,but not enough to be able to form a strong enough defence against her.

Wouldn't that be assuming that the next form has the same arm?

If one was to amplify the emulated magic energy long enough (with some kind of amplification device, no doubt), it'd probably be enough to stop Ravil from moving about, and has the possibly of killing her (I think). Rapid drastic changes in one's entire body, both externally and internally, would no doubt cause absurd amounts of stress to Ravil's body.

Try and read through this example, and pretend that it's you (feel free to join in the fun everyone!):

Example wrote:
3kul puts another machine down next to you, and flicks the switch. Suddenly, you're struggling to breathe, because you have gills instead of lungs, and are out of the water. Then you can't inhale air at all, because whilst your next form has lungs, it has no mouth, and you must instead quickly learn to get air through the pores in your skin. Now you're blind, because your next form has no eyes, but at least you can breathe again, since your mouth is back (at least, you assume it's your mouth). You try to run away at this point, but then your legs turn into tentacles, causing you to fall over. Not to worry though, because those quickly sprout heads and they begin to discuss a better way to move about. Sadly, your newfound friends disappear all too soon as they're replaced with beaks and ears.

The general response I'd expect around now would probably range from 'wtf is happening to me' to 'please make the madness stop'. I'm I can't really imagine how one would survive that (you'd be well and truely messed up with prolonged exposure to it), so I'd say that it qualifies as a 'strong' form of defense against Ravil.

So all someone would need to do would be to amplify the frequency or 'sense' of magic to intolerably high levels, and make sure that Ravil is exposed to it for a long enough period of time, and she'd either be brain dead, regular dead, or just really really messed up. Well, that's how I made sense of it, but tell me if I'm wrong Ravil (if I am wrong though, please explain why rather than just yelling 'wrong!' at me, ok? Razz).

In closing, please make sure to pick up a copy of my latest book 'How to Kill a Ravil' at your nearest bookstore. Now on tape! Very Happy

actuly, none of her forms have tenticals,i don't think she'd be growing any of those in the near future.

but all that you really need to do to send her into meltdown is get embri and angel to make a nice volcano eruptuion nearby.

oh,and she has actuly once had alot of breathing difficulty when she was freewheeling once due to the fact she had suddenly got gills and lungs at the same time.

*ravil glares a 3kul and slowly advances, all eight arms really to try to throttel him*

ah,you've also overlooked something.nobody knows how strong the magic around her has to be before she starts freewheeling.

ravil:one reason why i won't kill you:you've got another thing wrong.I'm only sensitive to actulal magic, not machine made stuff.plus i'm thinking about getting Az to make me a personal magic dampener to try and help reduce the chances of me freewheeling.

maby we should make a thread in the wilds called "a little experiment" which involves people setting up spells for ravil to try and see which spelsl they should use nearby her,as when she's freewheeling it's kinda hard for her to do much.

What I was suggesting was what if there was a way to fool your body into thinking that machine-emulated magic was the real thing.

Somefreakoverthere wrote:

Hm... I'll just quote what I had to say to Till about a magic dampening field.

3kul wrote:
Given that mutants all inherently derive their power from the same source (the X gene, or whatever it's called, as I've been led to believe - please correct me if I'm wrong though), I'd say that a dampening field that affects them would be fair game, and quite possible.

However, magic varies much more than that, having different sources. For example, HollowEyes uses charms as a source of "magic", but there is nothing "magical" about him whatsoever. Alternatively, there are those who can directly weild magic, are infused with it, can channel it to a different source and various other things.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that you can't simply lump magic users together like that. It's the reason why I never refer to HollowEyes charms as "magic" (I use the term to help illustrate my point in this post, but otherwise I will refer to it as the act of channelling spirit energy to a different place or person via the paper charms - the charms are just paper until they're activated), because I'd like to emphasize that he is not magical, and that the charms do have a power source.

Long story short, creating a universal magic dampener is on par with creating a cure for every disease in the universe. There's just too many variations to make it a reasonable thing to have.

Our apologies to any of you who felt left out of our "opponent rant". There are just far too many of you to get everybody in, but you are all worthy of massacring Twisted Evil

Yes we did make a deal with the Corp. We get massive amounts of yen if we kill you all Twisted Evil

That of course isn't likely to happen, so mostly we are just doing it for the fun of it. Twisted Evil

We went to some length to hide our identity, yes we are some of you. You may (or may not, we aren't telling) have identified some one who helped to set up the account, others have helped in other ways, can you guess us all?? We'd rather you didn't. It will take some of the fun out of it.

We wanted a more active opponent when the Corporation seemed rather inactive. That obviously has changed, but these guys should still make for more interesting fodder than unresponsive and less personal mechs.

Between us "raiders", we are of mixed minds about the dampeners. They would sure help us, since we are mere mortals, but for the present, we will not be using them. The one consession in this area that we could agree on, is helmits which will limit the Wamphyri from taking us over.

Let's all have fun, and if you feel so superior to us mere mortals, feel free to post here any weaknesses you have that we could exploit to level off the playing field. Twisted Evil

I have a certain weakness for gorgeous pilots with advanced technical skills who long for a passionate and fulfilling romance with a mysterious and loquatious bird of the night.

Somehow I feel you will not be felling me anytime soon.

If you want me to make you a magic dampener Ravil, you're going to have to show me both what kind of magic affects you, and how strong it has to be before you start freewheeling.

If you show me where you've freewheeled before, I might be able to find a residual magical energy, so that'd help with the second point

Before that I'm also going to have to make a magic detector

*Waves at her fellow mortals whilst holding an MMG in her other hand, which twitches*

Hello. I'm sorry to see more humans have joined the Corporation. These people you call 'freaks' have been mostly very nice to me.
