For a start we have no idea which direction these two people are going, #1 could be running off into town to get some milk for all we know while #2 could be going round the mansion.

When you say 'win' the contest do you mean beat the other boy or become last?

Is it something to do with them being twins?

You can't tell them apart so if #1 wins he can say he's the other boy and the father transfers the millions to #1.

EDIT: OR (just thought of this one) #1 starts to turn around in circles while going around the mansion, while #2 trots off. Probably the unlikeliest of the two but I just get a funny image with this one Razz

The farther was blind and didn't know who one,so either boy could of gone to him and tell him that they had come last when going around the mansion when they had actuly come first.

ahh...1# waited further on,and when his brother came past he killed him and then continued around the mansion,thus he won.

wait,he knocked his brother off is horse and rode on that,as it's only his horse that has to cross the line.then he could claim the money.
