I think this is a good idea. I know I've been against the idea of moving/revamping from scratch in the past but at this point I think it is the best option avaliable to us.
Luckily acomplishing the switch in-character isn't a problem for me since none of my characters actually live in Blackstar and they're all established dimension hoppers anyway. (Not to mention nosy enough to justify then showing up in any new world ASAP.)
There's a little bit of saddness at the realisation that this will be the 4th time this community (as I see it anyway) has changed it's main RP location, but as long as the members are there nothing much has been lost, right?

I'd recommend adding a section for character profiles to that list because the one here has proven extremely useful. It'll be even more important if we do manage to attract new members because it'd be unfair to expect them to read through a ton of existing RP's to work out what each character is.

Seriously, though, I know I have far too much of an elitist streak to treat this as open-mindedly as I should, but the idea of throwing adverts onto random forums with only the mention of it being a "roleplay forum" conjures up the following horrifying visions. Legions of uncreative "recolour" characters ripped off popular media with a few flavour changes and as much depth as a piece of paper, spelling and grammar from purportedly-native-English-speakers/writers that renders an otherwise passable chunk of text illegible, and powerplay that makes characters batting a large sun around like a tennis ball seem quite mild in comparison. |
There's also the slightly creepy people who think 'role-play' is always in some way linked with sex. 
But all of that is easily solved by making sure we do mention more than just the fact that it's an RP forum. Adding a bit about the kind of RP, the kind of characters people use and the rules/structure of it will simultaniously put off people who wouldn't add anything or bother following the rules and make it seem more interesting to people who would enjoy being here.
Edit: What will happen to Blackstar as a fictional world? I appreciate we're loosing the individual sections of the forum but will the locations they're named after dissapear as well? Are we going to have a whole new world with a new map and new locations or are we keeping the existing world and just restarting the forum?

Yeah, Any RP's would need to be remade. But if I may speak freely, thanks for having that little fit, Cirral. Not only did you delay the remake until... Who knows, but you also made your mouther cry. Nice job.
I have decided to advertise BSD on a few 'chans that manage to like this non-sexual type of RPing and arnt insane whack-jobs so we wont have the forum flooded with 4chan memes and worst of all, furrys. |

Because my little fit is entirely related to an entirely justified complaint from the EC. I haven't had any sort of association with the EC for years and even then it was so brief and passing to essentially be meaningless. Oh, and this normally doesn't bug me so much, but it's Cirrial. If the second i is giving you trouble, Cirr is more than acceptable. Cir isn't.
You know, back when you came back to the forums, supposedly legit, I was one of the people trying to give you a chance when so many were calling for another permaban. Your recent and continuing display of disrespect and intolerance would have me reconsidering this, if I didn't think it'd make me a massive hypocrite, given my self-admitted elitist tendencies.
tl;dr - Don't push your luck, DLM.

Ah, Didnt mean to come out so harsh. I think its best that I apologise now before it gets out of hand. The truth is, I usually dont think before posting often, and... Geez, I better stop now before I derail this thread and cause too much drama.
In any case, is anyone able to contact DP... Erm, LP and asking when hes going to try and upgrade again? |

As I've said on the EC's private forum, the creation of a new Blackstar does not hinge upon the name of it's games section (especially since the entire forum's motto is "For The Art Of Roleplaying"), so I don't think the arguments raised here should be blamed for any delays. DP's probably just busy again or something, I'm sure he'll be back soon enough.

Ah forget it, I'll just say thank you for finally seeing things our way LP. I'll post here again when the polls have come to a close.
EDIT: The Council's poll is long over, and it looks like a majority are not interested in seeing a Corrupted Cave games room. Nothing personal LP, that's just the way we feel.
If you're looking for a substitute name, a couple of Council members thought that it would be a good idea to name the games section after Coolpikaaa's Space Station (feeling that he'd be far happier with such a thing than we were).
Oh, and for those of you feeling skeptical about Blackstar's update, LP mentioned this a while back (Fri Oct 09, 2009 1:48 am to be precise) over in the Council's super-secret headquarters:
