Intro to the Dojo

Congratulations, you have reached the Dojo Information Kiosk

I can see that you have fallen for the trick. A non-stick pipe with no way to climb out. And right after the front entrance too. Poor soul. You may be wondering how one could fit an entire world in an unassuming little building. It's complex, but it's real.

Right now you're at the Entrance point, on the eastern edge of the Central Plains. This world appears to be divided into Five Areas, or Realms.

The Eastern Most realm is the Evergreen Glades. This is where the actual Dojo is. Also included here is the Wilds, the area everyone who gets lost seems to end up; you can RP at any level here. There's also an odd Floating Tower. I'm not sure what's up with that though.

The Western Most realm is the Black Forest. Dangerous stuff goes on inside the elusive lair of The Evil Council, known as the Corrupted Cave. It's not a place for the faint of heart or the weak (strong?) of mind.

In between the two is the Central Plains, perhaps the largest of all the Realms. Here you'll find Dojopolis, a large clean city with similarities to North Korea's Pyongyang, except more evil. You'll also find the Church of Discordia, this is a portal to an alternate universe where only humans may travel. If you dare enter the Church, you will be transported to a new reality inside...NEW JERSEY! (The horrror!)

You will find the Testing Facility for The Corporation. It is here you can prove your skills to them and possibly join their ranks, if you so dare. There's the Pumpkin Patch, an odd relic in the Plains. Unfortunately you must pass through a gate to get there, and there are people guarding it. Try posting in the Pumpkin Patch Gate with your profile to see if they'll let you through.

North of the Central Plains is Psychotopia City. This is the largest City and forms its own Realm. Here you will find many important fixtures of the Dojo. Firstly, the Hall of Shame is here. This is where you go if you break the two big rules (shown at the bottom of this post.) West of the Hall of Shame is the Archives. Scholars move roleplays from a time past to here, so that they may be studied and enjoyed.

Due to their near-identical appearance, the fact that they're side by side, and that someone from The Evil Council keeps switching the signs, people confuse the Archives with the Hall of Records. The Hall of Records is where you post information about who your characters are. What their stats are, what they can do, and how they became to be. Once a small footnote in the Hall of Records, the Genetic Repository has now grown to be a separate building that sits South of the Hall. Here you will find records and information on the various races you will find inside the Dojo.

TheDarkPsycho, the creator of Psychotopia City, also keeps his very own Underground Bunker. While this used to be used for secret experimentation, you may now travel inside yourself and view all the wonderful technology the Dojo has been working on. If technology isn't your thing, perhaps Art or Spoken Word is? In the very center of Psychotopia City sits an Amphitheatre and an Art Gallery. You may contribute as you see fit (in fact, it is highly encouraged!)

The Bingo Hall on the west edge of Psychotopia City, is where people go to relax and play fun games. If you don't want to participate anywhere else yet, why not join in here? And finlly, on the east edge of Psychotopia , is the Market Place. This is where people come to buy and sell goods that can be used in roleplays. Take a look around! The Meeting House Complex sits above the Central Plains; it has not been determined how the Moderators get up there, but they do. You'll see their decisions on the future of the Dojo and its members here, along with a Suggestion Box to contribute.

The Dojo also has its own Olympics! The Olympic Complex can only be reached by warp, but contains a large Arena, some Offices, Judging Booths, some Stands and a Film Vault to view past Olympic Matchups.

There are two realms that are as-of-yet Unexplored, the Southern Frontier and the Arctic Tundra but maybe you are brave enough to go there, find out what's there. Maybe they'll even name an Area there in your honor.

No society, however, would be complete without its own set of Alternate-worlds. Not much is known about these, except that they occasionally crash into this world and we see Space-Station parts and books written in Nornish falling from the sky.

Now that you're a member of the Dojo, We ask that you follow a few rules:

The First rule is to show respect to others, as you would ask them to Respect you. We may all come from different places, but we are all members of the Dojo here.

Second is respect the decisions of the Admins. They have a heard enough time without you whining about every decision. Follow these two rules, and all shall turnout fine.

Best revision I've seen of the board information. Okay, it's the only one I've seen, but it's still pretty kickass, and covers nearly every board we have!

I'll give it another few days for DP to show up, and if he doesn't, I'll give the old board information topic a reply with this in. That way, I preserve the original topic's post, and the new information is there. Everybody wins!

The place still needs various cannon on issues, such as Who/what is the police force of Dojopolis?

Chances are I will have to make up information about a police force if I want to make an rp about a Swat team or something... Hint hint.

Actualy, I don't think there are any official police, with Psycotopia being to much of a madhouse for any order-keeping to be more than a joke, and Dojoopolis being (in my vision of it, at least) a ramshackle sprawl of buildings laid down as an afterthought with no real governece, or really any reason for existance other than the glut of houses available for squatters, who eventualy set up a semblance of order for their own peice of mind, but little else. Feel free to start up an organisation that presumes itself to be the police, though. I think an RP based around that would go very well. In fact, I was planning on starting a roleplay thread about "running for mayor of Dojoopolis", but didn't get around to it, mostly just due to procrastination. If you want, maybe we can set up our factions as rivals for the heart of the city?

As for information goes, I'd say it's comprehensve enough, maybe even a little intimidatingly long, but there is a lot to describe there. The in-character tone of the original was kept very well, too. I didn't even know about the not-visible-from-the-front-page boards before reading this, although I think that maybe those boards were made to be secrets for only mods and orb-of-all-seeing holders to know, though, so maybe they're not appropriate for an introductory list.

On a related note, I think we should tack on a "For more information, see the Blackstar Dojo Information board and wiki-based databank." onto the end of the canned greeting for people who might miss it at first due to frontpageoverwhelmingitis. Also, for some reason I suddenly got this feeling of highly redundant information.
