I think we need to have a brainstorm session. There has to be something we can do to start or restart Blackstar, and the CC in general?
http://www.creaturetopia.org/ and http://www.creaturescaves.com/ seem to be the two main hubs of activity around, but even they seem to be dying.
What was it that brought people together and where did it go?!

Well, Shaon and a bunch of others (I think data was even there) told me over JRC that Nobody really cares about the CC when I was talking about how I wanted to help the 07 CCSF. Sadly, Its a sad truth I see.
The CC apparently cannot be saved, but I myself am currently looking at the traffic rate of BSDJ. The place seem really active during the summer of 07, and fell thereinafter. I am still analysing the place... It would help if DP put a traffic log....
In any case, I reccomend we go on a rapent Advertisement jihad. Although I do think we should pick our targets wisley. We do not want anonymous and the /b posters from the 'Chans to come in here and spam the place to death...

I do believe a traffic log would be mighty beneficial. I realize that Blackstar is a bit of a minority in the community being a 90% roleplay, 10% CC forum, as opposed to the other way around for most CC forums.
I don't know whether an advertising blitz would really help. Obviously /b/ is the wrong place to look for new members; I think instead we need to convert RPers from other Creatures forums. Therein lies the problem: there aren't any big Creatures forums to attract members from.
I think we also need to push the fact that there is a Creatures RP section, as it does go undeserved.

Minority? I see it as the only spark left in the CC. And with that said, The spark is fading. Besides, Nobody who matters REALLY cares about the good ol' CC, Boyo. The only thing that could save the actual CC is if this mythical Creatures 4 gets done someday, of which it wont. That creatures 4 is obviously a old EC plot gone bad. I mean, Seriously guys... Blueberry soft? Dont try deniing this either.

When I was spamvertising this site over steam, I got a tip that this place would get better results advertising to an anime crowd.

Not a bad idea advertising to an anime crowd there. Perhaps we should visit Gaia, or some other anime forum in hopes of finding some RPers?
As for being a minority, I meant in reference to the point of the site. While the Dojo is in the CC by virtue of its memberbase coming from the CC, the site isn't really related to Creatures or anything. Most CC forums (Albia 2000, Creaturetopia, etc.) are devoted to Creatures and feature (Creatures-related) RPs as a fringe benefit.
C4 would be a great jump-start to the community, definitely. I've actually started on a project to recreate C1 with Java. While it wouldn't be 3D, if I could get something resembling C1 it would make a fertile platform for additions and modifications to the game.
We'll have to see how it turns out though.

A quick, slightly off-topic post from me to deny this. It's clearly not a Council plot, this was something that was spotted by some Gameware members a while back (the more interesting links for BE's projects are found here just by the way - apologies for linking to a google search but for some reason the links don't work if I post them here). Blueberry Entertainment (not 'Soft', DLM) is supposedly a group established by a small number of long-time Creatures fans, and though nobody was ever actually linked to it there was a very good thread up for a little while showing that Don was the one who owned the 'creatures4.com' address.
The site underwent a number of minor yet major changes after being spotted by the public. Firstly they removed the above link to the Creatures 4 project details from their main page, so unless you knew the address or where to look you'd find nothing. Most people speculated that this was because it had a very ambitious release date and list of features, and if nobody ever saw these, then they wouldn't know what they were missing out on.
Secondly, and perhaps most importantly, they went from 'having Gameware's permission' to 'having discussions with Gameware to get permission' (those aren't direct quotes mind you, but it is/was generally what they'd said), in regards to just how they were allowed to make something like this. A huge step backwards, and one that quickly convinced most people that this wasn't going to happen. No journal entries for a year is pretty damning too, so sadly I don't think that we can count on BE to do this for us.

While we're talking about advertising the site, I should mention Shaon. I've found her things everywhere, referencing Blackstar. She should get a medal. Seriously.
And I think those who are art-savvy should get working on link-banners that we could add to our signatures of other forums.

Even ackbar agrees with me about blueberry entertainment.
Of course, I guess that really doesnt matter, The Blueberry entertainment domain will expire sometime this year in '09.
Yes, I think an expedition to advertise on gaia would be a good idea, but I should warn all of yall. One time I have been asked to cyber by some succubus... I would have, exept my freind told me that it was indeed A trap
besides, it should be noted that gaia is pretty much an equivalent of 4chan and /b/ . Anyone who has been on either of thoose places (And chances are, if you visit 4chan regularly (Of which I dont) you also visit Gaia regularly) would know what I mean.
Shaon get an award? She has enough of them already. She doesnt need anymore!

I haven't been frequenting Blackstar as much as I should be, what with radio PSI sucking all my time away as of late, but I still appreciate the comment.

Here's my first horrible attempt at a banner. I butchered the title banner for Blackstar to make it, though.
Anyone have any problems with this?
EDIT: Other then a black border around the edges; I already did that.

I'd change the colour of the title ('Blackstar Dojo') in the middle as the black doesn't stand out very much against the darkish green, but aside from that it's pretty good

Anouther thing I suggested in the past that would help is if we replaced the JRChat with something new, Like Palace (See my post in the suggestions thread.)
Palace would be a suitable replacement for a chatroom on blackstar IMO. I also have a rough feeling I can attract more people if we happen to have a palace room.
Furthermore, I have a very rough feeling that it is just due to bad timing that we are not experiancing much activity. I am sure it will peak during the summer. With this said, I know that I have bad karma, So we should begin rationing food and ammo.

JRChat doesn't exist anymore, correct? I thought it was just a standard IRC client/channel, but people refer to it like it's a separate protocol or something. We definitely need a replacement though. If Blackstar could spear-head the CC's chat client requirements it could really start things up again.
On another note, I'm working on getting C2 working on Vista, which might also help things.
