It's Violet.

Just thought I'd stop in and see how everyone has been? It's been a few years, indeed. What's the state of the Dojo? Any super invisible ninjas I should know about?

Blackstar is. . . .Dead, I suppose. We only get a dozen or so RPers nowadays.

DP's been missing for a few days, so yeah, I don't think we're exactly at peak activity.

Yikes. That's depressing. The Dojo used to be so active! It makes me nostalgic thinking about it, even though I didn't really have any part of the whole setup and only participated in a couple RPs Smile

Violet! Surprised Long time no see, how have you been? I've been well, I finished uni and now I work in a hospital (but I didn't do a medical degree, so go figure Razz).

I'm also Second-in-Command of the EC now, after my brutal usurpation of Addman's throne. Needless to say it made for quite the epic movie afterwards (entitled 'The Evil Council: A 3kul Story'), with Sir Ian McKellen playing a convincing yet inexplicably aged Fort... Roles and actors were drawn from a hat you see, as that was the only way to make it fair, but unfortunately it didn't work out very well for some of them - a thoroughly unconvincing Sylvester Stallone didn't really capture the role of Raven too well, and Adam Sandler wasn't quite the HisLordship that some of us imagined him to be. I'll also admit that having Carmen Electra play Addman was pretty confusing (though a highlight for some), but the rest of the actors and actresses worked out just fine in my opinion.

Unfortunately the movie received some... mixed reviews from people who simply could not understand the director's vision and it also blew the Council's budget in a massive way, so I'm not allowed to be in charge of self-promotionary plots anymore >_>

Whilst Blackstar's a shadow of it's former self I certainly wouldn't call it dead as Zerrer has. There are some fairly active RP threads around (I find that I have to post in Cave Slickers once every day or so, which is pretty good imo), and a small number of members who post regularly. It's not as good as it used to be, but it's not a lost cause just yet either.

I see. Well, I'll be sure to stick around! Did the closure of the GW forums cause the activity to drop? Where do the CC members normally meet up?

I definitely think the Dojo has the ability to re-establish itself as a good RPing destination (and the RPs I participated in were quite fun, I have to say.)

What has become of the EC's web presence, is it still alive and kicking, or has it merged with the Dojo? The insanity level on the Dojo is just as I remember it, slightly below that of the EC.

And on a side note, if you decide to create Evil 3kul: The Evil Council Story, you'll have to show me a production cut so I can mercilessly leak it to the Internet.

As for me on a personal/education level, I've graduated high school, and went off to college for a few months before switching subjects. I've now decided to become a cop, and in September will be pursuing a Law and Security diploma.

We shall see how that turns out Smile

Edit: That "I should stay" really should be pointed towards Zerrer, there Smile

Haha, I appreciate the shameless plug; unfortunately I do feel I should reaquaint myself for a little before I start contributing. Why didn't I think to deposit Yen into my account? After 2.5 years I would've been rich!

The Yen stuff is worthless. It really always has. So it doesnt really matter in the long run. Infact, the best thing to do with it is get 100 posts and then get the biggest loan, then order up an orb of clear viewing so you can view the archvies of posts almost anywhere.

Yeah....

I wouldn't take DLM's advice on THAT one.

The item system is quite fun to pass the time, plus you can even get a few things out of it. Try looking up various items on the wiki.

Oh, the item system is fun indeed. If memory serves correct, I was involved in the creation of the original item system. The selection and installation of that particular phpBB mod fell to me, I think. (Or maybe I'm thinking of the EC's forum. It's hard to remember nowadays.)

Oh, I dunno, the economy these days. We have to drive armoured vehicles full of Yen everywhere to pay for a loaf of bread! Although apparently Cornelius Lives is stronger than ever. You can take a fistful of Cornelius Lives and buy yourself a postponement for your weekly beating- I mean, "morale adjustment" from the EC.

Argh, okay guys. This upcoming rant/confession has been overdue for quite some time, and I apologise to Violet for the temporary thread-jack.

I was the item/medal admin and I still have guilt about up and leaving with absolutely no warning, leaving more than a few item requests unfinished and suspended in perpetual limbo.

Basically, the only reason there's been no new items or medals is because I decided to have just a little breakdown at the work I had to do in addition to preparing for... I'm guessing first year of university.

That and I also had an art breakdown in which I became convinced I couldn't pixel anything to save my life. See, it doesn't tend to be just one cause with me, it's a combination of causes.

So rather than actually, y'know, saying this on the fora, I decided to just drop off and fade out, because <sarcasm>of course if I happened to make any mention of weakness then Blackstar as a whole would rip me to shreds.</sarcasm>

Unfortunately, while I know how dumb that sounds now, at the time I somehow thought it made more sense to just vanish then say "Look guys, I can't draw more stuff right now because there's other things going on, and I think I can't draw, period."

I think I edited my user article on the wiki recently with a somewhat ambiguous pledge to at least finish the stuff people requested of me sometime during the summer. If I do go ahead with it, it's going to pretty much be the summer and just the summer, I've got far too many deadlines I need to face otherwise. I can spend a combined time of an hour posting on the forums, but I can't spend the hours and hours it would take to pixel individual items. And, let's face it, I'd never match Embri's level of quality, try as I might.

The alternative to this if anyone's really desperate is I forgo pixels in favour of vector art, which I can do, but which will look even more mismatched alongside the pixel sprites. Also, if anyone's interested in me finally getting around to, I don't know, starting a medal vote, PM me nominations. I'm sure I can probably do vectored medals. Spook's seemed pretty good and not too clashing.

Thread-jack over.

Shocked

Yeeeeeeaaaah, there is, and I'm kind of meant to be one of the moderators there, but I forgot all about it and haven't visited in maybe 6 months or so... So I can't really tell you if it's dead or alive, but I know that it's called something reeeeally similar to 'Creatopia' (it's not Creatopia though, I just checked Creatopia.org and got taken to Go Daddy.com >_>), somebody help me out here please?

As for the activity drop, I think that it's been a rather steady process. GW closed well after most of us had already left, and imo, they only closed because some of us came back and were somewhat vocal about what a lousy job they were doing of moderating the place.

We're forced to match our activity levels to Blackstar's really, if we enacted a major plot right now nobody would really be around to feel scared or intimidated by it Confused We spend a lot of our time in our secret forums though.

NEVER! It must be a box-office smash, I'll not allow you to jeapordize the movie's success by releasing it to the masses for less than full price!

Wow, that's pretty damn cool, I hope that it all goes well for you Violet Smile. I guess the biggest decision you have to make between now and then is whether you want to be the good cop or the bad cop Razz.

Do not work properly for me anymore (my inventory is broken, you see), so I really don't mind if you're too busy for that sort of thing Cirrial Smile

As for badges, the minimal requirement is that there's two or more active threads with 10 or more pages to vote between for the month. It may be a little while before we get something like that, but a few threads are getting close - I'm sure that late Feb/early March will see Cave Slickers pull into the double-digits, It sure has been a while... is just a couple of pages away, Deservire is plodding along at a somewhat slow yet consistent pace, and Immortal Injustice edges ever closer to that 10 page mark, so I imagine that whilst February may be a no-vote month, by March we'll have a number of interesting threads to vote on (sorry if there's any threads that I've forgotten, these are just the few that I've been watching).
