A microchip in my book?

Right now I was just reading a book, and what seems to be some kind of microchip is in my page. It looks kinda like a sticker and prolly is, but this is just really weird. It really looks real, and is even raised, amping up the wierd scale.
The book is Halo: the cole protocol, (quite good if you want to know more about he games story) and I am wondering if this could be some sort of ARG. Do you guys know/can check if this has happned to anyone else?

I think they use microchip stickers on a lot in products now, I've found a few on games and DVDs and such, but I don't think I've found one on a book before...

Of course, there's a chance that we're talking about entirely different things, so I don't know if I'm being particularly helpful with my post here Razz

I found one of those in my copy of the Neon Genesis Evangelion manga. They're anti-theft devices. Just toss the microchip and you'll be fine.

Microchips? in MY books?

The stuff I read happens to often be old literature. I am currently reading H.G. Wells The Time Machine. Its a hardback book, and thus having a antitheft chip would make the chip stick out and such, but when I buy fresh video games (Which is something I do not often do) I may get a chip in it. I belive my copy of Command and conqour: Red alert III had such a chip.... I do not wish to coment on that.

As shaon said, They are anti-theft devices. Although for the sake of me, I do not get why you would add the anti-theft device on the book. With a book, since I would not think that the chip would be coverd up by packaging, it can be easily taken off actually IN THE STORE, possibly in a bathroom, and then whaddya got?

I hate those things. Trying to take them off usually ruins the product you bought, thus devaluing it.

It's also the governments way of keeping tabs on you - hidden cameras are in the stickers! Invisible cables link the devices to various government buildings.

What do you mean my paranoia is unfounded? Of course it is! It's founded on bucket loads of crazy.
