Alright, half baked idea number one:

Serial Audio Drama Podcast based on blackstar.

Here's the idea:

We get a group of people who are willing to stay on the project. We do an RP to write a storyline. When we have the RP done satisfactorily, we have someone rewrite the RP into script form, and then we edit it for our characters response, making sure any changes are in sync with our characters.

We then take this script, and record our characters parts, and then send in the recordings to someone willing to do post production. Then all the parts are mixed, sound effects and music added, and the podcast episode is released. I'm thinking one RP should get us through a season.

It's a little more than half baked, but the challenges here are a) getting Blackstar active again. Large casts are key here, b) getting people who won't disappear, and c) the huge amount of post-production work needed. This isn't a small order here, but it would be awesome and my help recruit people to the Dojo.

I really love this idea and would love to do something for it. Also, would this involve a narrative sketched out in advance that allows for flexibility, or a completely free scenario with absolutely no indication as to where it'll end up?

I think we'd have some idea of where we want to end, but we would have no idea of how to get there. That would make it more realistic.

The only thing that worries me about this is the tendancy of our RP's to trail off rather than actually end. Although if a specific end point is in mind that might help. If nessesary one or a small number of people could be let in on the ending in advance so they can nudge the storyline in that direction if nessesary.

Other than that I love it, and if no one else is avaliable I might be able to talk my brother into doing the post production work. He's done a lot of music production before so it shouldn't be a problem for him.

Sounds good... 'cept that I haven't got much in the way of recording devices. If you don't mind really shoddy recordings I have my pda, but that's it.

there's also the problem of people with multiple characters, unless you're planning on implementing a one character only rule.

Depending on how good they are at changing their voice people could do different accents/voices for different characters.

I don't think Danikat would sound like me so even if I was just doing the one character I'd still try and change it a bit. I have no idea how, but then I've never really thought about what she'd sound like.

I have the feeling whatever character I choose, I'm going to filter the hell out of the recordings and go absolutely insane with editing until I have some deranged work of art. Then promptly decide I've gone slightly too far, back it up a bit and declare it finished. >_>

I am totally in for this, I can't do much with editing and with a new mic I would have to use the stupid sound recorder thing on my computer....Apart from that I will do my very best and would love to be part of that....Considering I have no huge plans for a good half a year at the most before I head to college.

I'd certainly be up for this, although I'd have to purposefully limit myself to my female characters, and just the one.

Although I've thought of a problem, the only mic I can get hold of is a multidirectional one. It doesn't just pick up your voice, it picks up everything. Would that be a problem?

I believe that would be a problem, Swix. It's pretty hard to filter out the enviroment from a sound clip.

As far as recording goes, I'd suggest everyone use Audacity. Open source and awesomeness.

I'd be doing two characters, Au'Marui as the Narrator, and his human form as DP. They'd have the same voice, but I'd add some echo to Au'Marui to help people tell the difference.

We may want to recruit for voices. I'd imagine we'd have a few NPC's that will require voicing. Bad guys, villagers, red-shirt-ensign-who-will-be-introduced-this-episode-but-die-before-anyone-can-form-any-type-of-emotional-attachment, those type people.

Are there any other problems people can see, or should we start RP'ing a script?

I can try the Audicity....Thing is, if I have download that could be a problem......But I can try my best to do the...The.......Just lost train of thought....Oh, right..The NPCs and a few other things if you want me to try.

Well, if we are going to do this, we need an RP to write a script from. As a nemisis for this first Podcast RP, who better than the Corporation...which I'm going to use some of my godly powers to rename the Enigma Corporation. Because that is a totally awesome name for an evil Corporation.

Either that or our beloved EC could act as our bad guy. They haven't tried to take over the Dojo since that Hackstar plot. Maybe it's about time they started living up to their name.

I can certainly help out with this. I've got nearly limitless time and nothing to fill it with. A fun diversion would be more than welcome. That, and I don't do nearly enough for this site. I sort of feel bad, just watching it deteriorate, figure I should give something back. Especially if I'll have fun doing it.
