Sometimes one needs a bit of sanity to get a grip on reality.
I have an idea that I had been harboring for quite some time. What about a new Sub-forum that allows people do debate almost anything, from "is cake a lie?" to "Computer games: Useless or not?"
(Plus, where else would the full skull-shaped baskets go into storage at?)

I am aware that this forum would cause many arguments, and possibly start a verbal war, but I think that with proper moderation that this could be a very good practice in logic and reason. There may be some people against this new forum for the reasons above as well as other reasons, but I volunteer for "Debating" All of the reasons one would be against such a sub-forum.

The main reason I previously stated for not doing it, I.E the need of an excess of moderation, I would be glad to offer a solution. I volunteer to moderate this forum and stop any arguments that seem to be getting out of hand. I am even making a list of rules, which I will add later when I finish writing it.

'General Chat' is the bane of every idea for a new section imo Razz

HisLordship is right though Zerrer, there's nothing to stop you from starting up a debate thread in an already existing section.

And anyway, why not have a board dedicated to debates? It could be fun.

Not to tell a debater how to do his job, but wouldn't you be better off trying to give a little rebuttal for naysayers like myself and HisLordship as we point out the numerous problems with your idea? Wink

I won't repeat HisLordship's points, but to add to them, I can't say that I've ever seen that many debate topics appearing here in Blackstar in the first place, which might suggest that people are more than happy to live without a debating section. As the old saying goes: if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
