Hi everyone, I'm new relatively new to role playing, in that I've dabbled in a few (read: one) sites before now, and I loved it. However, the last site went down a least a year ago and I was looking for a new one.

Just recently I heard about this site from a friend in my town, and I'm eager to start role playing again.

I suppose I'll scrap my old characters and start anew... Any tips?

DON'T create so much backstory that you have to spend 10 years in here just for other people to understand just who your character is.

I made that mistake.

I am The Dark Psycho, Head Admin and High Sensei of the Dojo, and the asterisk (*) method is but one of the RP methodologies we prescribe to here at Blackstar. Another is the narrative form, which takes a bit to be able to pull off successfully, but has an amazing effect when done right.

Oh, and that stuff you just drank, is 110% alcohol (with other chemicals mixed in) and can eat through anything. It makes Pan Galactic Gargle Blasters seem tame.

Please avoid the mutant chickens, whilst we are commencing with the warnings.

If you thought Emus were bad...

Here's a sample of another RP style.

"Actually, the mutant chickens are more like Tame Emus. Still dangerous, but without the ability to breathe fire and shot lasers out of their eyes." Zerrer spoke both to DP and Norgod; to Norgod, explaining what the mutant chickens were; and to DP, persisting in his belief that emus are the worst things in the multiverse.

Anyways, Emu feathers are still just feathers, where as Mutant Chicken feathers are made up of a metallic alloy stronger than steel and form sort of protective armor." DP replied, with a contemptuous look at Zerrer. Who was this insect to tell him that He had done a poor job genetic engineering the Mutant Chickens?

Yes, but emus have no remorse, as well as talons that are so sharp they can rip the fabric of time and space itself.

plus, chickens, even mutant chickens, are silly to be afraid of.

Emus are not so silly to fear.

Neither is HLS.

F-O: This is an ego-script, another form of RPing. When practiced in places like the Bingo Hall, they can be rather silly and quite fun to read. They're not often used in a full on RP, but when they are the results get very intresting.
