Game of the Year 2008

Well to answer that game awards are usually given out around June-September (AKA Summer time, when all the kids just sit around the TV doing nothing) from many companies/shows/magazines/sites, though some may presented near the end of the year or early into the next. Zelda Phantom Hourglass is another contender, but may just win best DS game, thanks to God of Wars:Chains of Olympus, which would probably win Best PSP game, and Best handheld game. And none of you start saying Gears of War 2 cause thats for next year as its coming out November (even when no one mention it ...yet).

They of course had nominees for these categories, and such, but the winners were voted by viewers and other random people.

I don't agree with best graphics for that. I mean Command and Conquer 3 had graphics that were a lot better! I do however play C+C3 on the highest graphical settings so that could have something to do with it... Razz

I could even say that Oblivion's graphics were better than Gears' but again I had Oblivion for the PC.

It probably won it in 07s awards as it came out March-August 07. And I'm thinking of making a game awards thread for Blackstar with BlackStar Game Awards in August, and a Best of 08 at the end of this year. With nominees set up, two moths in advance and voting one month before presentations.

Out of the games on that list I went for Smash Bros.

The other possibility was GTA4, but Smash Bros. won for me because I tend to play both for the same reason - random acts of amusing violence and Smash Bros. tends to hold my interest for longer.
Which probably doesn't make any sense but there you go.

Of course if the rumors of a Chinese Democracy tie-in in GTA4 turn out to be true that could change things. And potentially explain the constant delays it's had.

If I could add my own games to the list it'd probably be Spore or Phantom Hourglass I'd go for.

Yep a good choice as this and Halo 3 are I (well..should be) nominated for longest lasting game thanks to Forge and level creator and if Halo's Multiplayer success translates to Halo 3 it can last for literally a decade.

The Lost game should win best game based on a tv show. The only reason being that I can't think of any other movies/tv shows to games.
