|
|
As you know, a new world map has been in progress for some time.
I am now pleased to say that is is complete
Now this is a huge map. Really huge. It's also been blacked out for the areas that have not been "explored." We have plans for these .
For those who are on broadband, Here is the full sized map for download:
http://www.blackstardojo.org/maps/map_05_03_2008.jpg (1.21 MB)
For those of you who are stuck on 56K, we have a low speed freindly maps set up.

I'm in the process of telling Embri over MSN just how amazing I think this looks. Which is hard to put into words.
One question about the blacked out version though - I'm pretty sure at some point or other at least one person has walked/driven or otherwise travelled directly between some of the places that are seperate on that map. For example Psychotopia and the Corrupted Cave.
Shouldn't there be at least a narrow line of explored space between those places? _________________ Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to decieve ~ Sir Walter Scott

Yes I'm aware that's how it's normally done, but there are exceptions.
For example in the Catalogue RP Danikat and Alzaranth just flew from the Training Dojo to the Corperate HQ building directly, without any kind of teleportation, because they were following the path of damage caused by the meteor.
And whilst it's probably impossible on the new map based on the old one a lot of refugees walked from various locations to the Guardians Citadel during the EC take-over of the Dojo. _________________ Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to decieve ~ Sir Walter Scott

That you did - but did you actively map it out as you went from point a to point b?
And we put the Guardian's Citadel out by itself due to the nature of the facility. Did they say they went their or walked their? We don't neccesarily say "I'm going to drive to the next town and get a pizza.", we usually say "I'm going to the next town and getting a pizza." The driving part is understood, as would be Psychotopia's/Blackstar's main mode of transport: Warp Portal Stations _________________

That map is immense! And by that I mean good. And by good I mean excellent. And by excellent I mean
Also, I can't believe how vast a distance it is between the Corrupted Cave and the Guardians' Citadel. I'm sure I journeyed there on one occasion without the use of warp portals. I'll never do that again _________________

Oh wow. That map is simply splendiferous! Or however that's spelled. I can't wait to see what the rest looks like. Better bring mutant chicken repellant and steel umbrellas if I even want to think about travelling, though. _________________ Not just a future.

They weren't drawing a map or anything like that but they were looking pretty closely at the terrain below them. To the point where I wouldn't consider it powerplaying to have them teleport between to any relatively distinct point along the route.
And yes a few people did say they walked to the citadel, owing to the fact that they were slaves of the EC at the time and didn't have any other option open to them.
However if this is intended to only reveal areas which have been mapped in the literal sense then I'll let the point slide. _________________ Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to decieve ~ Sir Walter Scott

Please keep in mind that the map as it currently stands represents common knowledge of the world - actual surveying or areas that are heavily traveled and thus well known.
Don't worry, I have a feeling you'll get a chance to do some reconnaissance missions in the future... _________________

Beautiful map Nee-Chan, I like the blacked out areas, BlackStar still has its secrets! Wouldn't be the same if it didn't.
I look forwards to seeing the rest ^_^ |

Uh, well, what I can see looks pretty damn awesome, so I'm going to have to assume that what I can't see is of an equally high quality
Two quick questions though:
1. Where's the volcano in the Black Forest? It's been a well-known location in many RPs up until now, hasn't it?
2. ... Where and what is Ducksoup Lake? (Obviously I don't mean 'where' literally, as I can see it right there on the map, just that a word search for 'Ducksoup Lake' yields no results)
Actually, there's a few places I've never heard of before - Lake Imbrium, Lake Incantium, Mt. Psicopata Oscuro... Not that I'm complaining or anything mind you _________________ If I'm not here, I'm probably over at...

Don't worry, the volcanos are still there, they've simply been placed a safe distance away from the cave itself.
Ducksoup Lake is one of Psychotopia's Natural Historical Sites, since the Galaxy renowned Chef Traxxis El Badoré attempted to break the Multiverse record for largest bowl of soup ever brewed. It was a fiasco, of course, since he had failed to realize the inimical nature of Blackstar's resident fowl in time. A thousand mutant chickens and one very annoyed Efreeti later... you have Ducksoup Lake. Sadly, Chef Traxxis did not survive to claim his world record, and the general area was abandoned due to the overwhelming stench of burned mutant chicken feathers.
(Translation: It's an inside joke, I'm afraid. Just accept it as one of this mare's foibles, smile and nod... )
As for the other landmarks, DP named most of them. We felt that it would be rather silly for a well established world to not have named the various areas at least in the known areas. _________________

Question: If one of us were to lead a party of adventurers, would we get certain landmarks named after us? _________________ http://zerrer.deviantart.com/

....Let's hope not. I don't want to be forced into using Lake Zerrer as a navagation point.
