Why is it so rare for us to finish an RP?

So last night I was thinking about some things which lead on to me thinking about the Death of a God RP and it's consequences. It seems to have died out, which is fine in theory, a lot of RP's do.

The trouble is it looked like it was going to trigger some major changes for the Dojo and DP, but it never actually got far enough for us to know what the Dojo would be like afterwards, let alone RP the whole series of events that would lead to an afterwards.
Which makes it kind of tricky to do follow-up RP's properly.

After I realised I didn't really know how to work any of that out (and got bored with that train of thought) I started thinking about why so many RPs never actually get completed. It's like people just get bored but I don't know why because everyone seems really into them when they're doing it.

Any suggestions?

Pfft, no suggestions here. As far as I'm aware, all the RPs I'm currently in I'm waiting on other people to post.

...Buuuut I have way too much free time on my hands. I'm willing to assume that a lot of RPs end because key players are distracted with matters outside of Blackstar, and the rest of the people wait, and wait, and then before you know it, bam, inactive, dead-if-not-dying RP.

And then new RPs are made and anyone still interested loses interest over the old RPs, looks at the new ones, and posts in them.

That's the impression I get, anyway.

I have been wondering that too...

Strong RP's seem to only hold out until a medal,so I was thinking...

Maybe there should also be rewards for the completion of an RP?

I'd say people that got themselves in key positions get distracted and disappear, or get writers block as being the main ones. After which everyone else waits and waits and waits until they get bored of waiting and then go and post in other things until/unless those people come back to the RP. And sometimes even that's not enough to kickstart a restart, you have to PM or alert everyone to the fact its active again.

I'm personally waiting on Goron and Iman (and DP if/when he has the time) in DoaG, The Clans in Web of the Clans, anyone in my Creatures RP Crash! (preferably TBS, as he's the only one who tried to take part) and *pokes Cirrial* Fade is waiting for 501s reply in The Last Forever Conspiracy, but Chronos and Cloud haven't posted since . Also am waiting patiently for your Challenge Arena reply, but you can take as long as you need for that due to our rules ^_^.

I was stuck with what to write in the Last Forever Conspiracy and wasn't sure whether to wait for someone else to post or make a bad attempt at a post. Basically, when Ensichrys threw the lightning ball I had no idea if it impacted the cloned 501 so I was unsure as to whether I should get tackled by the cloned 501 or if he/it gets blasted out of the sky mid-jump.

So yes, I think it's because people are waiting for other people to post, but the second people are waiting for the first people to post. Hence mass confusion and RP's digging their own graves. Maybe there should be more PM's going around to alleviate these concerns... to be honest I always forget I can send PM's to people.

Well apparently Iman is waiting for everyone else in the group going to Earth in DoaG. So that's a mini-stale mate there.

I'm waiting for Brayen and/or Treesprite, and HisLordship if I remember correctly.

But it looks like this PM'ing people to remind them concept is the key - that and of course the problem of people having time for RP'ing.

So out of curiosity - if there was (or is) an RP, any RP, where key people were unable to partiticate for a while and it died down do you think it'd be possible (and practical) to maybe ressurect it later if enough people were interested?

Or should we just let the ones that die die and keep moving on to new things?

I'm stuck on DoaG waiting for HLS to post, out of Clans, annnnd... those are all my complaints.

Seriously, guys, if you're waiting for me for more than a day, don't be shy about IMing me or something. My memory is crap.

The Last Stand died for obvious reasons-- Fort disappeared, and the plot was over. Which just killed our motivation. D:

Hmm... Well, CP's Last Forever trilogy seems to be doing ok, and I think this will be the third time the Lost RP has come back. So, I'd be in favour of not letting them die completely.

DoaG- Waiting for HLS. This thread is #1 on my priority list atm.

Last-Forever Conspiracy- I'm trying to figure out a way for Ensichrys to get mad and act an ass in character without looking like it's actually me who's the ass.

Battle with TBS- Posting NAO!

Pumpkin Patch- Waiting for sheets to be accepted and DoaG to end.

Safari Zone- Waiting for CP I think.

As a Hunter Stalks- Dead D:

The Mistake- Dropped out due to dislike for necro posts.

Battle with Guardians- Don't even get me started.

Hmm... personally, I'd like to see the two very first RPs I made awakened, they were much fun. Across the World I am waiting on others to post, and the same goes for Web of the Clans
