For some reason I can't seem to get the effect, which is a little disappointing.

I think that the point is to give fans something interesting to look at other than stupidly rare or powerful pokemon. It's the more simple pleasure of seeing something that you might not ever see happening in-game again (although unfortunately I'm not seeing it Razz

).

Why is everybody acting like they were practically owed something here? Did you know about this before buying the game? No. Did you exclusively buy the game just for this secret? No. So why does everybody feel that it was such a huge letdown? I am actually jealous that I seem to be the only one who missed out on seeing this, but the rest of you don't even care that it happened.

There was no 'promise', it's not like he said 'Hey, play pokemon on the 12th for and you'll get a new legendary pokemon', all he said was "Please play Pokemon Diamond / Pearl on January 12th. You'll find something different".

It's just something that he as a person who helped to make Pokemon thought was cool. Just because you think otherwise doesn't mean that you have to whine and moan about it days later Confused

I didn't see it either. Which is annoying because I was actually in Snowpoint City at the time, I just didn't play that day.

But as 3kul said it's hardly something to complain about even if you didn't like it. It's not like you lost anything.
