When you read about a "sidenote" in a friend's research paper, you immediately fear he's written a 200 page long digression with no point or end in sight, and you feel a compulsion to add to it everytime you loo at it.

What do I have to do with programming? Ask Hiro Protagonist sometime about Enki. He'll know.
