Brawn gave a low, rumbling groan as it opened its eyes, and, lifting its head, shook. There were few things it hated more than loud, unexpected noises.

Slowly, the monster shifted its weight, rolling into a lying position from its side onto its belly, and looked around. Its injured front leg ached from the fall, and the shrapnel still buried in its hide still stung, and were still letting blood. Brawn was tired, and would have happily welcomed a rest, but it could see easily that the battle outside the Citadel wasn't over yet.

Not getting to its feet just yet, Brawn turned its gaze on Addman, seeking orders.

((I'm not questioning Goron's beam, I am questioning your use of that tool. I know of things that can cut through hardened steel and such, and you can truly say that they do cut it, but they do not cut through it like soft butter.))

After making sure that Lunagon took the correct set of stairs, Whiteoak ran up the stairs on his side. He entered the West Gun Turret and closed the door behind him, setting the security lock.

Looking at the console panel's readings, he said to himself:
"Well, who ever gets there first... “
and he pushed the Big Red Button.

The gate swung closed, and sealed itself shut. Both Gun Turrets came alive and followed Whteoak's preset program, targeting all non-Guardian/Security Penguin personnel (target locks acquired earlier, and then followed.) Plasma blasts were bursting all around as the guns shot at their targets in order.

After hitting the button, Whiteoak had turned his attention to another bank of monitors, these were for the courtyard. There are smaller plasma rifles secured in various locations covering most of the courtyard. Finally spotting 3kul and Cloud as they are cutting through the hardened security door, he says to them over the intercoms in the courtyard:

"Stop what you are doing, and step away from the door or I will shoot. I have you covered by at least three plasma rifles, but I would prefer to keep you alive, and Cloud; your escape would result in a dead Holloweyes."

Flicking a switch to send the sound to the outside speakers he says:

"We have taken two hostages. If you do not want them harmed, retreat to a position no closer than three hundred yard, cease all aggression and stop using whatever you've been using to hypnotize and compel our personnel" (Whiteoak believing that Lunagon’s compulsion was similar to his own.)

(You will find that all radio signals EXCEPT the Guardian system are jammed.)

There was a pounding at the Gun Turret door and a penguin voice called out:

“Whiteoak, let me in, I have something very important to tell you.”

((I would say, given that this is Goron's weapon and that (from what I've heard) he essentially designed the Citadel to boot, that something like that is up to him, so I'll have to wait for him to post before making my reply to yours. There exists a chance that we may already be through the door before you have the opportunity to threaten us, and thanks to the stream of security penguins setting the mines off, we'd be pretty hard to spot through all the snow, dirt and penguin organs flying about for however long that lasts.

Funny that the plasma rifles situated about the Courtyard, though now quite obvious, were never mentioned before though Rolling Eyes ))

*Net spied the gates closing. Apparently, the child had not done what it was told, and that simply wouldn't do. Leaning over, Net spat at the child and whispered into it's ear once more. Cringing, the child shut it's eyes and formulated another wave of compulsion.*

~Guardians and Security Penguins, disable all defense mechanisms and open all gates.~

((Are there any guardians still outside the relative safety of the citadel air filters?))

((As far as I know, nope.))

As Lunagon neared the top of the stairs, he spied an ironclad door.

Oh, carp...

Fortunately enough, it opened with a click. He went through, hearing it close after he was done.

Taking a look around, he was throughly confused. Behind a pair of windows, there was a great mass of intelligible cameras. About the only thing the half-vampire figured out how to use right away was the communications.

No matter-push the red button, that was what Whiteoak said to do, so he'd do it.

Going over to the seat and plopping himself into it, he fumbled around until he felt the button. Or what he thought was the button. No matter-he slammed it with his fist, and after hearing a satisfying sound of machinery moving, he asked Whiteoak through his communicator (not the one that was part of the machinery, the one he was carrying with him since the fight began):

"Hey, now what do I do?"

Tetsu-ko heard the sudden woosh of air as Furnace's tail whipped toward her.One hop forward kept her out of the full force, but her dodge cost her balance and she slid backwards. At the exact second she touched the ground, the female dragon flapped and kicked out both legs, turning in a kind of somersault fashion. With the new momentum, both legs swung downwards at the other dragon behind her.

~Guardians and Security Penguins, disable all defense mechanisms and open all gates.~

"Wazzat?" Tetsu lost her concentration and landed it a heap at Furnace's feet, not sure if her kick had even connected.Pulling her self up, she scanned for the voice.

"Who gave the order?"
She was sure it was an order, and coolpikaaa told her to follow them all.Torn between continuing to fight, and what she was told to do, Tetsu frowned. The only gate she knew of was closed, and only being here to fill in for coolpikaaa, she had no idea how to close.,Also most of the mines had gone off, so what other defenses did they have? Noticing a security camera above, she took aim and blew it down with one puff of flames.

"I hope that will do for now, whoever you are!"

((Wow, the Guardians are really team players Razz

As Tetsuko's existance proves, there is still a Guardian who is within range of Net's 'weapon'.

And CP, as we've all found from Shine's last post, the front gate is now most definitely closed.))

((3kul is correct. The blade is made of pure plasma, something that you would have great trouble stopping with any solid material (magnetic energy and other plasma are the exception). However, every time you strike, the plasma must be replenished... Cutting through doors of a foot of titanium might do a number on the console. Oh wait... you addressed that.

I can't help feeling that Shine may be right. Think of the scene in the first star wars where Obi-Wan and Qui Gon were breaking into the command deck and Qui Gon plunges his lightsaber into the metal. It would have gotten through, but not before the droids show up...))

"What? No, no,NO!" Goron exclaimed seeing the chaos unfold before him, "Everything's going all wrong! Curse you Murphy! And curse your laws!"

And then a flash of white caught his eye.

"... You have GOT to be kidding me. That clerk is so fired."

Goron tore along the wall, Shadow in hot pursuit, pausing only to stop at a turret.

"I'm unsure why, but I feel compelled to turn off this gun..."

Goron flipped the switch, deactivating the gun. It would need to be manually reactivated before it could be used. Passing it off as an OCD quirk, Goron and Shadow descended into the Hanger, still empty. And began making their way to the Great Hall, hoping to head off HollowEyes and his cronies.

HollowEyes gritted his teeth with annoyance as Whiteoak's voice came out over the loudspeakers - the beam sword was gradually working, and he was halfway through the door, but he was out of time. He didn't stop what he was doing, weighing up all the options.

He didn't see any guns back when he came in here, which meant that Whiteoak could be bluffing, or that they were on their way, or that they were hidden. Judging by how well he knew Shine, he was fairly sure that the Guardian wouldn't shoot to kill - they were far more useful as hostages, considering how much the Council outnumbered the Guardians.

He made up his mind. If they stopped here, it would be far more hindering to their assault on the Citadel than if they continued and got shot up a bit. Of course, it'd be a fair bit more painful than that simple logic, so he came up with a clever plan for a diversion.

In the same movement that he was using to slice open a chunk in the metal door he flicked a locust charm to the ground. Hundreds of the insect fiends quickly swarmed out, filling the Courtyard and acting as a suitable distraction for Whiteoak. HollowEyes didn't imagine that they'd last too long against whatever Whiteoak had in store for them, but it should give him enough time to get through the door, and if he still had some fiends left they could join he and Cloud as they tore up the inside of the Citadel.

"<Protect us!>" He shouted to them in fiendish, an order that he'd never had to give them before. They seemed irritated with an order that didn't involve ripping the flesh from anything, but they obeyed him all the same, the thick cloud of insects buzzing about randomly as they kept their eyes out for whatever dangers might come.

"Almost through..." He muttered to Cloud as he turned his attention back to the door, feeling the Goron console beginning to become uncomfortably hot. He'd hoped that it would last more than one door, but oh well, as long as it served it's purpose that was all that mattered.

((So do I have to throw away my Goron Console after this?))

Cloud smiled a little as HollowEyes kept attacking the door. He turned around and stared at his vacant body, that was still on the opposite side of the Citadel.

"Sorry, no time to save you," He mumbled, more to himself than anyone else.

Closing his eyes, Cloud started work. Nothing seemed to be happening at all, but this was mostly due to the complexity of his undertaking.

((Hardly. The Goron console will simply deactivate if it overheats. That'd be ridiculous to not have a fail-safe like that.))

Goron burst into the Great hall from the Hanger, only to run into hundreds of Locusts flying everywhere. Immediately reconsidering his position, Goron dove back through the door he had passed through, staying in the great hall long enough only to leave the swarm an explosive surprise.

Safely back in the hanger, Goron dropped the grenade pin to the floor next to Shadow and awaited the impending explosion.

Goron pulls the pin of the Fragmentation Grenade and lobs it at the Locust. The grenade explodes into a rain of shrapnel. The unlucky victim caught in the blast radius of the grenade gets peppered with bits of metal and a deafening blast.

*Net sighed, the gates weren't up and he wasn't sure why. Discounting the possibility that the child was at fault, the guardians must be protecting themselves somehow, and that protection would need to be removed before the compulsion would function again. Picking up his communicator, he began to speak.*

Net: Anyone know what's going on in there? The gates are still closed, which means it's safe to say that the Guardians aren't being affected, or if they are they certainly aren't doing a very good job of it. Based on prior experience, I'd say the latter, but for argument's sake let's presume it's the former. Anyone got access to a Citadel computer terminal? I'll need to jack in to disable whatever it is they're using to stop us, so you might have to jerry-rig the radio to it somehow.
