you're right. I AM drawing you into debate deliberately. because every forum has some guy who posts the mary sue litmus test and goes on a holy crusade to cleanse RP of heretics. and I need a whetstone to sharpen my intellectual blades on occasionally. and that tired old litmus test fills the bill very nicely.
your arguements have now descended into ignoring everything I post, going in circles, and declaring the rules are on your side without actually having any authority to do so, something frequently referred to as "virtual moderating" on forums. you've also succeeded in making my point for me, because Kara DIDN'T find a way back from the dimensional prison, another character had to rescue her after the battle. that actually happened in an RP that I can provide a link to if you like.
Kara is gear-dependent. I can outfit her with a gear loadout that fits the campaign she's in. personally, I'd like to see if the people here can take her at full strength, I always like a real challenge. but if not, I can always scale her gear to fit. _________________ Insert the funniest, wittiest, most endearingly clever joke you've ever heard in this space....then mentally give me credit for it. see? you like me better already! |

I must correct you: I have no ignored what you posted, nor have I gone in circles. If you'd like to correct me, by all means, do so.
I realize I'm walking a fine line with these posts, but I've tried my best to run my opinions by the mods, and for the most part I think my arguments are correct and reflect the rules and community stance on these issues.

How charitable of you. Therein lies the problem: Your character is stronger than all the other characters, so you must play her at a weaker level. Instead of rising to a challenge, you simply patronize them.
You have failed to address the following points:
*How you intend to play Kara so she won't be a Mary Sue
*All the other problems with Kara I have offered to point out to you
*That Reckoning is too powerful
*Her perfection -- all those amazing abilities that she has
*Her history

I request that you don't sink to insults. If you feel that there is no way around it, then don't post any more. Act your age, please.
And did it ever occur to you that the reason why people post the litmus test is because it's accurate? _________________ Abidusray: Insane, teleporting, haikuing human in a suit.

*How you intend to play Kara so she won't be a Mary Sue
by scaling her equipment loadouts to fit the threads she takes part in. asked and answered.
*All the other problems with Kara I have offered to point out to you
too vague.
*That Reckoning is too powerful
by pointing out that it can only kill on a HIT THAT WOULD KILL ANYWAY were the character being struck a normal human, it is no more lethal than a normal sword would be to a normal guy. asked and answered.
*Her perfection -- all those amazing abilities that she has
by reminding you that she is not tuned for a normal humans only world. asked and answered.
*Her history
what about her history? too vague.
long story short, you are contradicting yourself. if I play Kara to not be a mary sue, I'm patronizing people. if I play her at the maximum power you see in her, she's unfair. catch 22.
has it occurred to you that I find the fact that you've attacked my bio thread before I've even played the character insulting in and of itself and have been returning the favor this whole time?
and for your information, I'm talking to DP....you know...the head admin...on MSN...that rule about "unfair characters" you keep falling back on only exists in your own mind. _________________ Insert the funniest, wittiest, most endearingly clever joke you've ever heard in this space....then mentally give me credit for it. see? you like me better already! |

You still don't understand my issue with Reckoning. Nor the problems I have with her abilities.
I haven't been contradicting myself. The catch-22 is a logical device that I have (sort of) employed in order to demonstrate one of the problems I have with your character. It's not entirely accurate, however, because there's more than two options. You could (god forbid) scale down your character's abilities.
As for the history, there are too many issues for me to point out, but what I was trying to refer to was the FBI's most wanted list.
It comes down to this: I have problems with your character, and you have, so far, failed to convince me otherwise. If I am wrong -- and I really hope I am -- about your character, all the better. I probably have overstepped my boundaries, but I don't think I have too far. While there is no written rule that overly powerful characters are unfair, I think it's a just and accurate assumption that they are not tolerated -- and if they are, they're disliked -- by the community.
And believe it or not, I do actually know who the head admin of the Dojo is. I've spoken with him on a few occasions, and quite frankly, I don't care if you're talking to him or not. It doesn't make you special or more powerful or anything. It just means you're talking with him. Way to go!
Again, prove me wrong about all of this and I'll be pleasantly surprised. _________________ Abidusray: Insane, teleporting, haikuing human in a suit.

Ok, this is where I step in.
First of, there is no rule about unfair characters. These are my three rules:
1. Respect me and my "staff"
2. Respect each other
3. Don't Powerplay.
Non of these involve unfair character, because even a powerful character can be played without powerplaying - depending on how they are used. Now I've seen Auron RP before, and I think he can handle the character and still play fairly.
I didn't step in because Auron asked me not to as a friend...but next time, if you have a problem with a character like this, instead of making everyone here look bad, deal with it in PM, and if that fails, report the post. Please? Otherwise, let them be and wait until they get in RP to pass judgement on a character. _________________

Fair enough. My rational for posting this in public is so that if other people had ideas or opinions they could contribute them, but we rather rapidly degraded. I hope I haven't caused you to lose face with anyone, Auron, and if I have I am sincerely sorry. _________________ Abidusray: Insane, teleporting, haikuing human in a suit.
