Rosebarks Goes to the Dojo For Some Training

The speaker was a large black winged Lion, with a sphynx style human face with dreadlocks for his mane. He had been on all fours, but shapeshifted up into his bi-ped form, bowed deeply and in a deep, sonorous voice, spoke in a slightly ethiopian accent:

"I am Obed, the Lion of Judah, the protector of the Holy Ark and the Master of the Sacred Plagues, ...
and owner of "Obed's Sandwich Shoppe" just off the central square in Dojopolis, where every Tuesday you can get a double tall Latte 1/2 price with the purchase of a Hot Toasted Sub.

So, Where you from and an' what you here to learn?"

Lilic merely grinned. "I am not from a certain place, I simply wander the world or worlds depending on how I feel and where I wish to go. I have seen much on my travels but none like this place" She grinned. "A tall latte and a hot toasted sub hmm? Sounds good" She smiled warmly again, she was weird in that way. Her hood, which was unnoticed up until this point, was put onto her head from habit as her cat like ears popped up. She was half cat demon after all and it was habit to block her ears from being seen, especially from younger people. "I heralded((is that spelled right?)) from a magical part of a forest from a land I do not know if you know of, it is called Calypso, but few tend to know of the land or other world it is from." She simply shrugged.

"So after all those travels," said Obed, "what brings you here, to the Dojo? Are you here to learn anything anything in particular?"

The lion-man was walking out of the training room, through the lobby area, (filled with a veritable forest of potted plants and miniature trees thanks to Mr. Sanders,)
and he continued outside.
He was headed for a flat field to the side of the building, it was used for outdoor training. It is also used for outdoor receptions and the occasional pick up soccer game.

As he went, he continued the conversation,

"No, I never heard of Calypso, You ever heard of Ethiopia? That's where I'm from originally, oh, but that was a loooong time ago.
((that would be about 2,870 some years back)) And since then, I been from hell to heaven and back again it seems like.

Lilic smirked. "Training in fighting more than anything else, more so the offense than the defense" She grinned at him. "Yes I have, but only in history books that my sister has made me read, other than that no I have not." She explained to him as she grinned. "If there is any other type of training that might come in handy, I would be glad to accept that as well."

[Shine]

((Sorry it took so long to reply, this weekend was a busy one for me in RL))

"Never been to Ethiopia, huh," said Obed as they finished the walk to the outside practice field, "Oh you should go, its beautiful to see the sun rising over the Red Sea, but watch out for the Pirates. I've had plenty some dealings with them, I have. You wouldn't think a feline would go for the water, but I love sailing and fighting Pirates.

Changing the subject, he continued:
"As to other things to learn 'round here... You got any, any, telepathic or empathic abilities, I mean obviously being at least part feline there's a good chance you got some... ? (I see the ears, don't be sensitive about them, to me they are a mark of dignity.)

Or weapons, I've got access to an arsenal, most of them magic, you interested in getting a weapon?" queried the black lion man.

Lilic looked at him the hood coming down as her ears showed fully as she smirked. "Habit I guess" She said simply as she smiled. "It sounds like it would be great to go to. As for the magic...I can use some telepathy but it's untrained by a long shot." She simply shrugged at it. "Still getting used to using it. As for weapons... Maybe a long bow or a couple of arrows if not both would help. I do like to use archery weapons if I can get the chance, I just never thought to try using it before...Or at least not enoughto carry some with me."

[Shine]

"You like a bow and arrows, huh?, I know of just the thing. You wait here while I go see if I can find it still."

and Obed runs off in the direction of the old cottage behind the Dojo.

after a few moments, another figure comes up the trail towards the Dojo. It is a large biped Rat, fully clothed, torn designer jeans, gray tee sirt with a dark gray open vest and with a baseball cap twisted to the side.

"Hey," the Rat said, "You new here? Me too, say, can I borrow, like five bucks. My master sent me here, and he forgot to send any money along for food. I'm really hungry, what do you say, anything'd help, hum?"

Lilic looked at him. "Would you pay me back for the five dollars? I don't like to give out money without knowing that the person will pay me back for it in some form." She said with a smile as she sighed lightly. She didn't know if she should just trust them or not being they were new as well, she was one to be cautious at first meetings. " On second thought, it's only five dollars after all, sure I'll give you five dolalrs for food." She said with a pleasant smile.

"Well thank you." he said as he took the money

"If you will be here tomorrow, I will pay you back. the name's Bill, or William Rodento, but my friends call me Bill." He said as he started to slip the bill into his pockect.

"Not so fast, Jimmy! Give the lady her money back, You arent supposed to be here you know, you've been banned from the Training Dojo"

It was Obed, who had stealthily returned with a package, and came up behind the Rat. "Give it to her." he said again.

"Haaay, wats, it to ya.?" The Rat glared back at Obed. "She gived it to me, and I'll pay her back, I on't have to give it back."

"In all my dealing with you, Jimmy, I can't remember you ever paying anybody back." Responded Obed. "So,hand her back the five NOW!

"No, I don't have to!!"

Obed waved a paw in front of Jimmy the Rat, and something he was holding in his paw glittered light reflections across Jimmy's face. Obed's voice came quietly, it was almost like you heard it inside your head, not coming in the ears. He said
"GIVE THE LADY HER MONEY BACK, AND THEN LEAVE THIS PLACE GOING DOWN THAT ROAD, AND EVERY THIRTY STEPS YOU WILL QUACK LIKE A DUCK." but then the voice stopped and you weren't exactly sure if you had ever really heard it.

But Jimy had, and with a strangely blank look on his face he steped towards Lilic, and handed the money back to her.

"Thanks" She said watching Jimmy the Rat with interest. "What exactly was that?" Lilic asked in interest to the spell. "Also, why is he not supposed to be here?" She asked him, she was a curious one it would seem. "Oh! You have a package...What's in the package?" Lilic again asked the question to Obed, yup, definately someone who liked to know things and was curious as ever about little things like Jimmy the Rat.

"Now aren't we full of questions." Obed said to Lilic "I'll try to take them in order."

"These are Albian Crystals; the parrallel planes in their crystal lattice structure are a harmonic wave length of the telepathic waves. So if you have even a little telepathic ability you can use these to implant a hypnotic suggestion in someone. The larger the crystal, and the stronger the telepathic abilities of the user, the more likely it is to work, and the higher the mental, telepathic, or magical abilities of the victim, the less likely it is to work."

He hands her a fairly average sized one, set on a removable chain.

((mount it however you want, on a necklace, on a ring, backpack fob whatever.))

"Quack" came a sound from down the road.

"Oh and he isn't supposed to be for exactly what he was doing to you, taking advantage in one way or another of the newer students. and Some subsequent vandalism doesn't help win him any friends either." The winged lion-man continued.

"And the package..... Mr, Sanders had this in the arsenal and he never used it, so he gave it to me, and I'm not really a bow and arrows kind of lion and I've never used it. He got it from a bad guy he captured, but it was cleared, the owner was evil, but the item is neutral."

and he unwrapped a small bow that was truely a piece of art for its perfection. It was a slender recurve bow, composite, maple and birch, with some horn, especially the tips where the strings attach. With it was a ornately worked leather quiver with floral designs and inlayed cutouts. It had about 2 dozen arrows in it.

He handed it to Lilic

"Take it"

((When you took the bow from Obed, you found that it was much lighter than expected, and although it would look like it should be very hard to pull the bow to its fullest extent, you will find that that too goes easier than you would expect. It is a magical bow. In your head you hear, ”So you are to be my new owner. I am the spirit of the bow, my name is (______________________) (you can name it, and you can create a history for it if you want) (General Ecclesiastes Sanders confiscated it from an enemy, but the bow itself is not necessarily evil, just its previous owner, you can create a history for it if you want.)

There are only three magical arrows in the quiver, they have different feather types.
The brown and white feathered arrows can go extreme distances if you want it too, and it “reads your mind” for near perfect accuracy every time, without hardly even aiming, but you have to basically be able to see the target. Its blade tips are extremely hard, and sharp, and can cut through tempered steel, and hardened ceramic.
The iridescent green arrows are magically aligned to selected elemental powers which you can set by chanting the kind in your head just before drawing one out. The elements include fire, water, ice, and electricity. They would hit their victim with the power of the arrow, like normal, but also with a blast of the magical element. The magical blast affects anything/one within a ten foot radius. (so you can hit a tree, or the ground, right next to something/someone, and not hit them with the arrow and hurt them, just give them a jolt of the magical power, like for example, “water” could put out a fire, or neutralize a fire based elemental influence… expand on this is you play with it)
The white feathers indicate an arrow which can travel 100s of miles to deliver a message, either spoke aloud or carrying a paper copy.

Every time you pull an arrow out, another magically materializes. It refills its supply by gathering the energy from the magical nexes you pass as you walk about in the course of your daily life, so it doesn’t ever permanently run out, but it can only be used magically 2 or 3 times in rapid succession before it needs time to recharge.

A fourth kind of arrow in the quiver, the ones with black feathers, are not magical, (except for the replacement feature,) They are extremely well made, strong arrows, with razor sharp tips made of titanium alloys and polymer composite. They can penetrate almost anything if the shooter has the strength. There are 20 of them in the quiver, so you should always be able to stay ahead of the replacement magic and never run out.))

"Quack" came a sound from down the road.

"Thank you" She said putitng the quiver on her back before putting the bow acress her shoulders in order to properly carry it in a fashion that would be easy to be quickly armed with her new bow.

"I shall put htis to great use in battle when I need it." She said smiling as she knocked one of the green feathered arrows smirking. ~Fire~ She said in her own mind as she smiled seeing the flame.

She was a flame elementalist it seemed by the first choice that she had used and a good aimer, a tree burning quickly that she had aimed at from some distance away, hitting the centre.

She couldn't fully see it but the foliage and the way the sun seemed to be hitting it she had taken an educated guess as to what it might be for the centre and had indeed hit it. "Wow, centre." She said smirking. "thank you Obed-sama" she said smiling at him. "I greatly appreciate such a lovely bow, well crafted and the arrows are excellent."

A new voice came from over her shoulder and back.

"I'm not fooled, lady. You've got those two thinking your all angelic and innocent, but I see that demon side in there too. You're an old soul, you've a lot more years than you look, and a lot more experience than you let on."

It was a furry, bi-ped mammalian, with bright red hair in a top knot. He was wearing coarse woven, white polycarb robes under a layer of light weight, opalescent, plated body armor, It was Whiteoak, the Woodnorn, and he was carrying his bladed staff. Its crystal blade glowing.....

And you're not all good, are you? I don't believe you are as you present yourself,
I think you could be a spy, come here from who.....?
are you with the EC (Evil Council),
or the Felbeasts????

Obed was out of bounds when he gave you ASF property, he's a very giving person, but he didn't have the authority to do that.
I'll take that back now, and you will leave immediately!"

A thin, snakey line of tractor beam begins to reach over in an attempt to grab hold of the quiver.

Lilic looked at him, he seemed to know she wasn't exactly the youngest in the group. "I'll give you this much, I'm not as young as I look no, but I am innocent and caring, lest you try to take something that is now mine!"
She said jumping back from the tractor beam as best she could grabbing the bow from her shoulder and quickly nocking a green tipped one as she grinned.

~Fire!~ Lilic thought to herself as she let it go aimed for him as she grabbed a black feathered one and a brown and white one grinning as she let them fly, her aim wasn't half bad normally. She knew however that her aim wouldn't be perfect with the black one seeing as she was shaky and was jumping from the tractor beam as quickly as she could.

A clearing wasn't her favorite spot to do battles but it would have to do for right now. "I will not let you take this from me, it was a gift from Mr. Sanders to Obed, whom gave it to me, so it is now mine, and why would I be with the EC? do I look evil to you?!" She exclaimed to him, glaring as she tried to grab another green tipped one her fingers fumbling with the shaft.

((Suggestions/corrections/training comments - my opinion, not Gospel:
Usually in one post there should only be one or two attack moves to allow the other side the time to respond, you did kind of a lot there and I could have been doing somethings during that time.
Also, when you use something, like you did with the arrows, you should include something about the possible effects of the items/arrows. Now, I know about these arrows so it's understandable, but in nomal posts, include references, like "the green, magic, arrow", or descriptions like
"the arrow with the brown and white feathers wove and ducked to avoid the tractor beam and then resumed its course as it sped towards its victim" Don't assume folks have read your profile in detail, some do, and some don't.

Good use of the thought-speach,
and I like the way you break up your paragraphs. Huge blocks of print are tedious to read.
It is interesting that you turned the weapon right back on me, I thought you'd just hold it and protect it.
Don't spend energy in training posts to edit the past, we'll just continue.))

Whiteoak flicked his staff and the tractor beam split in two, grabbing the two magic arrows, and he pivoted and leaned back to let the normal arrow miss him. Holding out his magic, prosthetic right hand he sent out a force field designed to knock his opponent off her feet.
