"Yes, I heard him." Danikat told Tina as she turned back to find the Owl and the rest of their group. At this point she felt that any news would be good news, there was far too little information here.

She reached Sabrille just in time to hear her question and so decided to stay quiet, waiting for the Owl to answer. She picked a slightly less dead looking tree and leaned against it to hear what he had to say.

Shavo scowled. He had intended to make a snide remark to Sabrille, but didn't trust his mouth at the moment.

Hearing everyone speak of his approach Kiery looked around until she spotted the owl with the others, raising her hands and shrugging as if to say 'I tried' before fluttering up and over to him.

"What's the news Mr. Neat Talker? Did ya find out why everything is all dead!?" Kiery spoke as she hovered next to the others. Oh look! Shifty and Bouncy stopped fighting, next time I better just try to stab them with my sleepy knife....Then again, no one gets hurt that way As if to mimic her thoughts a miniture sadistic smirk appeared on Kiery's face though it would take a keen eye to be able to see something so small.

((Do not mind my absence. Orientation is a busy time, even for a gentleman such as myself with absolute compartmentalization of duplicity. Be thankful that my cunning plans do not omit my wonderful schemes for the Dojo's storyline development.))

Even with a twitch of adrenaline, the Owl still loved being the center of captivated attention. With a deft croak of his mellifluous throat, he began.

"I recently departed for some culinary escapades best not recounted herein; in the due process of acquiring a mouse I found some rather unsettling news. A conversation, I happened to detect, between two covert parties I could not identify. Apparently, these animalistic entities sensed something amiss in the woods, specifically speaking of-” His voice assumed a taint of professionalism – “the taint of Corruption.”

The Owl’s stomach smiled. Speechification is such a heady drug, for both user and witnesses.

“Capital ‘C’ Corruption, to say, a form of black magic I once had the misfortune of witnessing. These two covert parties also discussed unusual sighting of unnatural felines in the area. Monstrous kittens. These, to me, are a dire sign, for I know of only one entity which employs both kittens and the magic of Corruption: the infamous Mira Shatterstar, scourge of Paragon servant of the B.L.I.G.H.T. If she or her minions are about, then we have to act quickly if we are to contain this pestilence. Not only does its spread signal a loss of green-spaces, but with each dying plant Cthulu - that dread demon of rot which plagued TreeSprite’s Grove – grows strongers and will soon find its place in our world. Please believe me when I say you do not want it to have a place in this world.”

His face now a theatrical masque like an Oedipus just at the verge of Nemesis’ sting, the Owl’s gut jeered.

Hope that’ll get their attention.

"Reminds me of the spirit that I ran afoul of when I first came here," responded Unguided. Gigantic kittens? What? he thought at the same time.

He turned away and scanned the desert before him again.

"Well, what are we going to do? Just stand here and talk, or get cracking and save our skins?"

"In what way are our skins in danger?" Asked Shavo with a slight hint of panic.
"Wait? Is this one of those sayings?" He shook his head in disgust. He hated how so many races had to come up with sayings for everything. A lot of them pointed out obvious things too.
'It's dark in here.' and 'You're tall' were his pet hates.

He got his pogo stick ready for a quick ride, and waited to see if they were going somewhere.

Sabrille was taken aback by the news. She had though the Owl was a serious animal - so why was it now choosing to spout this utter nonsense?
"Gaint kittens?" she said, appalled. "You've got to be kidding me!"

"Gaint kittens? You've got to be kidding me!"

"Why would there not be giant kittens." He asked Sabrille. With a very, very slight, smirk.

"You can morph into a Panther, why should they not be huge?

The Owl's temper piqued as the scoffing began.

"You've got to be kidding me!"

Surely they have dwelt here long enough to encounter stranger things than that! Weather forecasts involving mild cases of root vegetables, for instance

“You think I would concoct such an absurd tale to lead you all astray?” He hoped no-one would suspect his appointment of the fairy as leader would arouse suspicion.

Nodding towards Danikat, he proclaimed, “Ask the one with cat ears, if you disbelieve me. Ask her about the joys of telepathic union with a profane mind. Perhaps she will sway your opinion differently.”

He paused. Dramatic effects helpful, even in their absence.
“I would recommend combing this area thoroughly. Look out for out-of-place relics, or unusual markings on inanimate obects. These wcould both be employed for extering a remote influence of Corruption.”

"I believe you. I have been hit by lemon storms before..." Shavo was about to get out his comb, then remembered that he was combing the area. Not his hair. Why did he carny a comb? He was bald...

He looked around. Staring very obviously at the dying land.
"Hmmmmm. Signs of corruption. Where could they be?"

Tina had turned around and listened to the Owls news, her snakes tail coiled and uncoiled about her leg as she heard the others talking between themselves and couldn't help but roll her eyes at Sabrille. She was conspicuously far away from Shavo, as she had decided a while ago she really did not like him. But the information the talking bird had brought made Danikats idea of searching the center seem all the more logical.

"The winged cat-eared woman and I were on our way to the middle. What you sssaid makesss her sssuggessstion ssseem to hold more merit now"

Tina said, speaking up only after the others had finished. After which, something to have occurred to her that had not before and she turned to Danikat.

"I'm sssorry, I don't know your name. I'd prefer to call you sssomething other than a dessscription, and I'm sssure you would too" the spliced creature said, smiling even though it showed off the gaps where canines should have been "I'm Tina"

Unguided turned away from the desert to face Tina.

He would introduce himself, but so far, he hadn't had anything spoken to him.

The C1 grendel glanced around the area again, looking for a chance to get a couple introductory words in.

Shavo noticed the grendel looking anxious. Probably wanting attention. Normally, he might have taken pleasure in this. Today however, he felt differently. It simply annoyed him that this creature was distracting him by moving around.

"Hello." He said to it in a rather bored voice. "Have you got something to say? Perhaps you've encountered giant kittens before?"
