Eerie Silence

[Aria]

Kiery blinked several times at the request to lead everyone where they were talking about, Trusting me? That is different. Must be because he is an Owl...Well he asked nicely so I will do this thing for you Mr. Neat Talker! Kiery turned to ask what exactly they wanted to find, but was silenced as activity broke out amongst the group as Sabrille left and Shavo spoke.

"And now we are left with a fairy to guide us!" He paused for a moment.
"Well, there's really nothing wrong with that. I'm sure this fairy has a good sense of direction. I'm sorry to say that most I've met were alcoholics."

...I don't like his tone, he will pay for that one! But I wonder what hemeant by alcoholic faeries? However as she thought out her reply he also left after Shavo, now causing her to get rather frustrated, and determined not to miss another chance.

As she saw Danikat also moving to follow she quickly fluttered after the woman staying close behind her more to use her as cover than to be helpful, however when Danikat began calling out to find the others Kiery quickly fluttered infront of her face to get her attention.

"I can help! Give me a second and I will find he REALLY quick!" Then hovering like a humming bird in midair, and failing to notice Sabrille calling down from the tree, a light golden glow surrounded Kiery as she focused some of her magic into finding Sabrille, draining little energy out of the hyper fairy due to how quickly she "located" the shifter. "She's!....right.....there" wings drooping slightly at having failed once again to be any use she slowly alighted onto the bat winged womans shoulder. Next time I will deffinately be useful and do what Mr. Neat Talker asked!

Sabrille shook her head slowly. The poor faerie seemed to be a beat behind life. She waited, however, for the other woman to reply.

[Danikat]

((My character looks exactly like the picture in my avatar. She's a humanoid with bat wings, cat ears and a tail. But at the moment the sword is in a sheath between her wings.))

Danikat was mildly suprised to see the fairy drop onto her shoulder but glad to have another ally willing to help. She smiled quickly at the fairy before turning her attention to Sabrille.

"Shifter then. I followed you out here because I want to help stop whatever is endangering this place before it does any more damage. I can't promise I'll be able to solve the problem but I have to try."

Sabrille thought a momet, then lightly jumped down from the tree.
"Come this way. I have something I think you need to see."
With that, Sabrille changed to panther form ((hey, I like panthers! I think I'll need to put this down as a favoured form...)) and padded off towards the river.

[Danikat]

Danikat followed Sabrille towards the river, keeping her eyes open for anything that might provide a clue.

"So, do either of you two know anything else about this area that might give us an idea whats going on? Have you ever seen anything like this?" She asked, turning her head to address the fairy riding on her shoulder as well as the shifter.

"No," Sabrille replied. "I've never seen anything like it."
They'd reached the river. It was worse than before. Sabrille bent down to scoop up the dirt onn the riverbank, and came up with a handful of sand. She let it flow through her fingers.

Unguided followed Danikat and Sabrille down to the river. He too picked up some sand and watched as it flowed like water through his fingers.

"Reminds me of the sand of the beach back on Albia," he said. Looking into the river, his expression grew a bit worried when he noticed the lack of fish.

The orb on his staff glew slightly, and the C1 grendel walked across the surface of the river, looking down for any sign of life. There was none, not even a mosquito larva.

[Aria]

Kiery quickly looked up from where she was pouting, instantly returning to her previously cheerful self.

"No, not really, but animals usualy don't stay in places without water! So maybe they are just leaving early?

Kiery's face took on a look of deep concentration as she looked at the sand and at the pitiful state of the river.

"Wow! If it is already this bad it's no wonder they are all gone! Maybe it decided to change directions farther up stream?"

((This is her first time seeing the river so she doesn't know that it has actually just gotten worse))

((There is no longer enough water to allow fish to move in it, so no wonder there aren't any fish, eh? ))

Sabrille jumped at the sound of yet another voice. People seemed to be gathering around her today like flies around a pile of...
This was odd, because normally she kept to the background. This complete role reversal left her feeling a bit dizzy and disoriented.

[Danikat]

"This is not good, really not good. We need to do something about this soon. Sabrille can you lead me to the center of this circle? Or at least point me in the right direction if you don't want to go there yourself?"

[Intyalle]

Sabrille growled a bit.
"I do not like the... feel of this place. No good can come from walking to the middle of disaster."
Despite her words, Sabrille continued to follow the river towards the centre. When it turned to head out of the forest, she crossed the now-dry bed where the river had cut out part of the ground but no longer ran, and kept heading towards the middle.

Shavo didn't like following people. They weren't moving fast enough for him to use his pogo stick effectively. So he was just jumping really high behind them.

"Wasn't the fairy meant to be leading?"

"Wow! If it is already this bad it's no wonder they are all gone! Maybe it decided to change directions farther up stream?" He turned to face Kiery.

"This is a recent change. There must be some other reason why they have all left. There is logic on your suggestion though." He smiled (as best he could) at Kiery.
I definitely need to view a species non-drunk before I start judging them.
He decided to pogo ahead of the group, up to where Sabrille was leading.

(( No-one noticed the fact that panthers don't have hands. Ah well. We'll pretend she changed shape by the river, then changed back.))

Great, thought Sabrille, growling a bit. Another tag-along.
She reached the point where the plants had started to wilt, then all of a sudden her animal instincts kicked into full gear. She gave a high-pitched feline whine, and it took all her concentration to stop her body from turning and sprinting away. As it was, she backed off from the area slowly.

Shavo smiled at her.
That will teach her to growl at me. Now to work out what it was.
He dismounted his pogo-stick and continued forward on foot.

Quickly Sabrille 'shifted back, and the feeling subsided a bit, though it still seemed to hang in the air like a cloud of noxious vapours.
"Did you feel that?" she demanded of those behind her.
