Some Sparring Practice

[Mitsukai]

Overcoming her initial shock quickly, she reached into her left sleeve with her right hand to draw out one of her daggers.

"Kaji"

The blade of the dagger suddenly bursted into flames. With all of this done, she briefly took aim by means of closing her left eye and focusing on the creature with the right, and threw it at the creature's head.

The Dab Hasnel took its attention off Lunagon and looked at Eve-only to get the full brunt of the flaming dagger right between its eyes.

Emitting an irritated growl, the centipede-like enigma retreated, using its front legs to attempt to dislodge the knife.

Lunagon backed away from the enigma, and quickly retrieved his staff from its carrier on his back. Then he swung the staff in a circular motion, sending a spiralling black box flying at the beast.

At the high point of its arc towards the Dab Hasnel, it split into 3. All 3 boxes landed on the enigma, contracted in on themselves, and exploded in a shower of dark purple sparkles, causing their target to cringe.

After that, the enigma managed to dislodge the dagger, although it was still in a considerable amount of pain, both from the dagger and Lunagon's attack.

Then it launched its own attack-it curled up into a ball and propelled itself towards Eve, with the intent of first squashing her and than running her over.

Shoot!

She had hoped that the firery dagger to the head would equal the creature's demise... but that was not to be the case it seemed. Now she had to do something quickly or risk being runned over since she doubted that there was anything that she could do to stop its oncoming attack.

She could use its own momentum against it however.

Muttering yet another incantation, she pressed her hands to the ground. The earth creaked and protested as a steep ramp of sorts was created and emerged from the originally flat surface. It was curved in a quarter circle so that anything that traveled up it would go vertically up rather than off on an angle.

Providing that the creature went up in the air long enough for the second part of the changes to be made, when it fell down it would literally impale itself on a set of jagged spikes.

The Dab Hasnel, being rolled up, was blind because it's head was hidden by its tail. Needless to say, it didn't notice the ramp Eve had created until it was about halfway up it.

In an attempt to stop itself, it unrolled when it was about to take off. It worked-sort of. Rather than being thrown up vertically, its momentum, plus the force it created by unfurling, threw it backwards into a nearby building.

After it hit the ground, dazed, the building, already weakened by time, collapsed around the enigma. After the dust cleared, it was buried underneath a pile of rubble.

Eve sighed in relief and examined Lunagon.

"Are you free of injuries?" she asked a bit worriedly while walking over to her dagger to retrieve it. The fires had long died out, but she could still feel a bit of heat radiating from it when she picked it up.

She didn't put it back in her sleeve quite yet, instead twirling it around. It was too warm to put away, and she wanted to keep it out just in case that enigma made a re-appearance, however unlikely that may be.

Lunagon nodded.

"It didn't attempt to attack me, and Dab Hasnels can't kill you by staring at you." he said. At the same time, he looked at the pile where the enigma was buried, worry showing on his face.

"Also, I think we should escape while we still can. Enigmas can take a lot of damage before going down, especially that kind."

Eve frowned as she glanced in the same direction as Lunagon. "No, staying here certainly seems unwise." She walked over to where her stuff was and picked the contents up before turning to face him again. "Shall we go?"

Lunagon quickly rummaged around, checking for anything that might had not made it into his pouch. Then he made sure his weapons were all in place.

A few rocks slid off the pile where the Dab Hasnel was buried, shocking him a little.

"Yes," he said, then headed towards the North. As far as he knew, that's where the best exit was.
