*Addman runs and leaps into some undergrowth to keep himself concealed, just as the plants upahead begin to shake as something begins to emerge*

As everyone begins to get behind the right point, the communtiy of bug like creatures flies through the plants, thick and dense. They sway from side to side before they locate the group.

Alec, confident in his creation, times it just right, and as the swarm passes over the ball, he activates his remote. A red laser zips out, and forms a large mostly transparent ball around them, before drawing them in.

However, there's a slight miscalculation, about 10 didn't get trapped as they were lagging behind. As Alec's device beeps information at him, one of the words is 'DANGER'. Turning around to the intrepid group, "Ideas anyone?"

A long tongue shot out from inside a cage - both it's owner and her brother were safely behind a large tree. ~Ah, finally!~ Little Sister commented, and her tongue latched onto one of the bug-like creatures. ~I was wondering how long it would be before I could get started...~

It immeadiately notices the pull of the tongue and begins to pull back against it when something hits it's back legs, which both promptly turn to stone. The monster, weighed down too much to continue flying, hits the ground hard, before being dragged back behind the tree. The sound that ensued might have been a scream, but nobody in the group knew whether or not the beetles had vocal chords, so opinions might vary.

~Easy prey!~ Little Sister said gleefully, thinking of what she could do with these abilities. ~Although I didn't need your help brother.~ "Would it kill you to show some gratitude?" HollowEyes replied as he stood the cage up so that they could both see how the others would fare. "I'm doing this as a favour to you."

*Fade draws her Sapphire Dagger, the jewel formed into an effective weapon glinting in the sunlight. She steps forwards as she fades, completely disappearing from both sight and sound*

*About 30 seconds later one of the bugs drop for apparently no reason, sliced neatly in two. Unfortunately this sends the eight, make that seven, bugs rather mad. So they start moving towards the enemy they cansee...*

ravil morphed to her naga form and slashed at one creature and slicing it in two,and then another,missing this time.she had drawn the attention away from fade and was enjoying the fight emensly.

There is a slight rustleing in several trees nearby, and from various angles six disruptor beams blast fry the remaining bugs.

There is a more pronounced rustling in the under brush that seems to move away quickly.

...and the only thing that remains is six badly disfigured bug bodies, lying on the ground with smoke wafting up from them.

*Fade slowly fades back into view, her Sapphire Dagger obviously having bug blood attached to it. She could hear other creatures here, but they too seemed invisible like her*

Well, it worked better than a can of bug spray I suppose

Slowly, three rather tall repto-saurian type beings emerged from the surroungs and walked towards the group. They vaguely resembled bipedal monitor lizards. They appear to be wearing something like robes which seem to be able to transmit the light image from behind them and project them on the opposite side, so from any direction they appear almost transparent, except for their faces, which now have the "hood" pulled back so you san see them. Each has a small technological device in a hand, but they are not pointing at the group.

Although there are three of them, their speaking seems to flow from one, seemlessly, to the next.

(#1) "Welcome, we mean you no harm,"
(#2) "we would compliment you on dealing with the group-bugs, they can be quite nasty."
(#3) "How did you come to venture into these parts of the wilderness, we have not encountered beings like any of you in our own explorations?"

(on a sub-space frequency that is truly not heard by any beings in this dimension, magical, technological or otherwise, there is additional communication going on)

(~ "#1, this is #6,.... they do not seem to be heavily armed, however there is clear evidense of magical or paranormal abilities in the group, and #7 reports that in tallying the number of dead bugs, it is highly likely that there is at least one, and possibly more who are unnaccounted for, we are scanning the surrounding underbrush for their whereabouts.
~#3 your soldier/workers are in place as you instructed, they have you all surrounded, and can provide cover should hostilities erupt, however intell suggests that is not likely.
~#2, your sniper is in position and watching for your signal as to whom to target initially, and is standing by. Our winged units are in treetop positions and are also standing by, ready to launch on your command")

smiling, the first Drazil continues

(#1) It is good to see fellow explorers
(#2) We have found these lands quite intregueing and much to our likeing
(#3) We are considering stakeing a claim and makeing a home here for ourselves,
(#1) We are a very private species and prefer our solitude, still with such a small group as just the three of us, it might be nice to converse with new people and near new stories,
(#2) (looking at #1 with a grin) rather than repeating the ones we have already shared numerous times already.
(#3) Perhaps we could share a meal together before we go on our way? If such food is to your likeing, the group-bugs are rather tastey and highly nutritious.

ravil looked at the dead bugs,then the lizard things,and then the bugs again.finaly she pointed at the bugs again and asked
"did you kill them?i was enjoying that fight.Alec,are those things in that ball thingy secured safely?i'd like to try some of these pests cooked if it's all the same with you."she said smiling as she picked up one half of the bug she had sliced in two.

*Fade stops herself from making a face, she'd separated herself from her emotions for a reason a while ago and now was not the time to suddenly show them again. Instead she wipes the blood off the Sapphire Dagger and puts it away, regarding the Drazilim with a cold, calculating look*

My thanks for the help with the bugs. I'm always for trying things that could come in useful later. We are a group who wished to explore these lands. Might I ask you are?

(#2) We like our privacy, and we like nature.

other of the colony are listening in and making side comments only audible to others of the Drazilim

(~ "yeah, and we like to slaughter large animals without any government telling us about protected species" there is much laughter~)

(#3) The land farther west is even more arrid, almost desert like.
(#1) The land around here where the woods are beginning to break up into clearings and scrub savannah is about perfect, but the local wildlife is a bit hostile.
(#2) Have you run into the very large three legged/three armed scaled things?
(#3) Not only are their teeth as sharp as they look, but they spit an acidic venon as well.

(~ "Too bad nobody told that to those three soldier/workers we lost in the fight." Another chimes in: "Yeah, but wasn't it a glorious battle?" several soldiers grunt in unison "Hu Ah, Hu Ah"~)

(#1) We would want to clear the area of a few more of them before we would want to raise any young.

(~"and we don't really want these guys hanging around here either, do we commander?"~)

We have not yet come across these creatures. You haven't answered my question either. Who are you?

*She folds her arms as she regards them*

I assume, you are asking for our 'help' in clearing out these six limbed creatures?

*Then showing the kind of background she comes from*

What's in it for us? I don't usually do work for others, unless you can offer something in return?

(#1) Your help? , no we are perfectly capable of handling ourselves, we just thought that you would appreciate the fore warrning.

again the traffic on the colony mind added commentary (~Yah, especially since we've got one immobilized we just might set loose on you if you give us any trouble,~)

(#2) and, As to who we are, we've told you, we are just folks exploring a basically uninhabited land,
(#3) looking for a place to make a home away from the meddling of others.

(~and since I doubt you'ld actually believe us if we said something like:- "a vanguard, pre-invasionary colony, checking out the land to see if it is a suitable homeworld for possible subsequent colony arrivals and eventual conquest, takeover, and consumption", anyway.~)

(#3) It has been good to have the chance to make your aquaintenace,
(#1) However, we will be continuing on our way and would ask that you likewise, continue on your way to the west.
(#2) Preferably without mentioning us to anyone.

Bowing slightly, the three Drazils withdraw into the surrounding woods and scrub brush, and seem to fade from view.
