Ensichrys/The Guivre Vs. The Morbuzak

The look the Morbuzak would've had on its face had it had one would have been very irritated.

No matter-it straightened up, and began to move its stem in a clockwise circle, speeding up after every complete circuit. Hopefully, the momentum would toss the Guivre off, and even if it didn't, the snake was likely to get dizzy.

[Chronos]

The Guivre did indeed fly off the Morbuzak's body. It flew in such a position that it obscured the view of what was behind it. Once the Guivre started to fall, the view became clear and Ensichrys was revealed leaping through the air toward the giant plant. He tried a different approach this time. Landing talons-in, Ensichrys allowed himself to slide down the Morbuzak's stem, causing long raking slashes in it.

The Guivre got up groggily and slithered back toward the battle. He tried to be as quiet as possible, hoping to perform a stealth kill.

The Morbuzak now was getting really annoyed.

However, the Guivre wasn't beyond its notice. This time, hoping to heal the wounds Ensichrys was dealing it, it cast Blood Money.

Two spirals of light went up and around the Morbuzak before disappearing.
Then a circle of light closed in on the Guivre. If all went well, the Guivre would lose a part of its lifeforce to the Morbuzak, which would use it to heal.

[Chronos]

The Guivre stopped moving. What was this ring of light around him? Ensichrys had not yet trained him to jump through hoops. What was this confounded light doing? "Ensichrys! Quidnam hic orbis lux?"

Ensichrys looked over to the Guivre. What was happening? Some strange spell of the Morbuzak? Still, Ensichrys really had no time to help his pet. "Intendo perdo orbis lux, Guivre!" He looked back to the massive plant before him. Ensichrys shreed again. He could not help it, he was in the moment.

Ensichrys began swinging, swiping, clawing, biting, slashing, and slicing at the base of the Morbuzak. He was attacking the immense plant so furiously, he began to growl in exhilaration. The sap from the plant, however, began to soil his feathers, and he was forced to cease his attack to clean himself off. There was much to be said about how one looked in battle.


The Guivre began to feel strange. He wasn't sure what was going on, but that accursed ring of light had something to do with it. Of that he was sure. He began to lose consciousness.

The Morbuzak, inside, was snickering. The life-draining power of Blood Money was (apparently) beginning to drain the Guivre's life-force. While it didn't intend on draining ALL of it, it was planning on taking just enough to heal the slashes Ensichrys gave it.

In the meantime, it spat out 5 more seeds, creating spawn plants to attack the dinoavian while he was "hindered" by its sap.

You are hygenic about the weirdest things, it thought.

Ensichrys looked up at the healing Morbuzak, then back at the Guivre, then at the 5 plants bearing down on him. He concentrated hard on getting his feathers clean and shiny again. What good would it do to destroy your enemies if you looked a mess while doing it? The plants were closing in on him as he was nearly finished. All the sap was off, but a few feathers were still ruffled. They were going to get him before he could readjust himself totally.

Then, from behind the scion plants, a huge serpent's tail swept them to the side, seemingly killing two of them. The Guivre was still alive. Knowing that he did what he could in this battle, the Guivre lost consciousness knowing that Ensichrys could win if he set his mind to it.

Ensichrys silently thanked the fates for sparing him. He looked gorgeous again. He rolled off toward the daughter plants and sliced one of them in half with his tail. The flometal extract was beginning to chip off. Ensichrys fired a powerful stream at the remaining two, who were tangled with each other. The sap within them boiled and the two made a loud popping noise as they ripped apart. A small jet of sap flew toward Ensichrys' face, but he dodged it, knowing all to well what it did to his plumage.

Ensichrys turned grimly toward the Morbuzak. "What's next?"

The Morbuzak first waited as the stolen life-force from the Guivre repaired the scratches on its stem, then it spit out 10 more seeds, resulting in double the number of the spawn plants.

Then it cast Shadow Die, sending a spiralling black box flying in an arc towards Ensichrys.

But this time, the box flew in a much higher arc than usual, and at its highest point, it split into 3.

2 of the boxes flew towards Ensichrys. The third went in the direction of the Guivre.

[Chronos]

Ensichrys panicked- again. He threw his arms out in two directions and blasted the black cubes flying at him with huge jolts of electricity, some of the most powerful he had ever been able to use.

He looked at the other scion plants and then to the Guivre. He decided it was more important that he saved his pet from possible death and rolled off with great speed in his direction, the child plants following him.

In a remarkable display of agility, Ensichrys dove over the Guivre, turning his back to the ground, and fired a bolt at the menacing black box that could have killed the Guivre. Ensichrys did a neat backflip and landed perfectly on his toes. This was quite possibly the first time he'd ever landed a lump like that, as he usually fell awkwardly to the ground, having lost his balance or some other such nonsense.

"Seriously, Morbuzak, is that the best you can do? You know I can take those little buggers, yet you keep sending them after me....

listen to me, I'm talking to a giant plant with no ears."

The Morbuzak responded to Ensichrys by flicking its head down, causing a green-black aura to spread throughout the clearing.

From somewhere in between the plant's leaves came waves of darkness and leaves, flying above the dinoavian to form 3, massive thorns. All 3 flew with amazing speed at Ensichrys.

Meanwhile, the spawn plants buried into the ground, resurfacing a good several yards away. They made their plans to move after the Thorns of Despair did their job.

[Chronos]

Ensichrys stood slack-jawed at the thorns above him. "Maybe that... isn't his best..."

The one thing that saved Ensichrys' life is the simple fact that nothing is faster than light. Specifically lightning, in this case. Electricity fired into the thorns, managing only to slow them before they separated his scales in two places, the third thorn having bounced harshly off Ensichrys' head crest. Ensichrys shreed again, though this time in pain. He was bleeding on his beautiful feathers, which he knew all too well was terribly difficult to clean. Ice was required to remove blood stains. Ensichrys knew there was nothing sufficient here, so he let it go... just this once.

Nearly swooning from the pain, Ensichrys tore the thorns out and flung them at two scion plants, killing one and wounding another. He then started firing jolts off at them, but he was somewhat weakened. He was wounding, but not killing the plants. It took several blasts to kill one, then another, but there were still seven more to deal with.

((A note about the thorns: They are magically generated. Once they have done their work, they usually disappear.))

The Morbuzak decided to adopt a diffrent strategy.

It buried into the ground, and then brought up a vine.

The new plan-keep its main stem underground and safe from harm, and attack by whipping its roots and vines at its foes.

It began by aiming its first lash at Ensichrys.

Finally, a mistake. FINALLY! The Morbuzak, up until this point, seemed to be impossible to lure into a disadvantageous situation, but it finally goofed. The Morbuzak's vines were thin compared to its body size. Their radius was shorter than the length of Ensichrys' tail horn.

Ensichrys whipped his body around and his tail severed the tip of the lashing vine. He flipped backward and killed another scion plant with a well aimed bolt. They were still undaunted. It was somewhat sad how they simply crawled right over the corpses of their fallen siblings.

Ensichrys was nervous. He kept a weather eye on the scions, but he also needed to know where the Morbuzak was. Ensichrys thought hard for a moment. He had attacked the Guivre before. Why wouldn't he do it again? Ensichrys sprinted toward the Guivre's unconscious body and stood poised to strike down any threat with speed and accuracy.

The pain of the severence of the vine angered the Morbuzak, and after quickly withdrawing the vine back into the ground, responded by attacking with 5 vines and some of its thicker roots.

The remainder of the spawn plants grouped together-more for protection from the dinoavian more than anything.

However, one wormed away from the group, and cast a spell.

Two spirals of light flew away from the plant, and after flying into the air some, they collided into a single beam that arced back towards the group of plants and landed on the ground.
After the landing, strange squares radiated out, surrounding the plants before disappearing. Then a square formed in front of each of the spawn plants, including the caster, than each square disappeared.

After the spell was finished, the spawn plants lunged forwards as a whole, becoming much more reckless than before.

((On that: the spell created a shield that defends all affected by the spell against physical attacks. The shields wear off after a couple hits.))

[Chronos]

Ensichrys bounded up and perched on a branch above him. He thanked the fates that the Morbuzak was not as good at the below-ground attacks as Mortracta was. Now the scion plants were rushing at him. Ensichrys aimed a mighty stream downward, now feeling up to battle again. Apparently it was merely his nerves that made him feel weak just moments before.

Two child plants were killed and flung outward. The remaining five were still charging wildly. Ensichrys hung by his feet for a moment to hack one's head off with his beak, then pulled himself right back up again. He would simply pick the four that were left off one by one at this point.

The Morbuzak resurfaced several yards away from the battle scene.

Seeing Ensichrys up in a tree, it quickly developed a plan.

Wrapping its roots around the tree's trunk, it prepared to pull the tree over, with the intention of at least surprising its foe in the process.
