Greetings!
Hello and welcome to the Pumpkin Patch! This is a new exhibition role-play that the Sensei has asked me to prepare. As such it will be breaking some of the Dojo's standing rules and utilizing others. I will detail the rules in a moment, but for now let me say thank you for taking a look over here. At the very least I do hope you will keep coming back to view the goings on and leave comments when appropriate. Now, some of you may know TreeSprite, RuneSage, Anga, Corwyn and Brayen from The Grove, and formerly from TreeSprite's Creatures Grove. If you don't that is fine, I look forward to meeting you and playing together, for those of you who do though, here is a bit of a disclaimer before we begin.
Disclaimer: The Otherworld Obelisk, the monolithic keeper of records and memories tells me that the demonic creature known as Cthulu corrupted more than just TreeSprite's Grove. It somewhat muddled our memories of events in that place. I would ask that everyone not trust to their recollections of events, or anything they might have heard regarding Cthulu and the Baleful Legion Inflicting Ghastly Havoc Theatrically's invasion of that realm. The characters involved in this role-play are not those characters! Point in fact, the B.L.I.G.H.T. have been taken over as Game Master characters and are not independent players in this role-play. So, world hoppers beware, assumptions can lead you astray!
Rules:
1.) In order to be granted access to post and participate in the Pumpkin Patch role-play you must fill out a character sheet to the satisfaction of the Game Master, and the Game Moderators.
2.) Your Game Master is "The Narrator". Your Game Moderators are The Dark Psycho, Embri, and the Companions of the Light; namely TreeSprite, Brayen, Anga, RuneSage, and Corwyn.
3.) After your character sheet is approved you will receive notification of approval, and you will be added to the Defenders of the Dojo Group.
4.) Those who are allowed into the Pumpkin Patch will be expected to remember that all postings in The Pumpkin Patch are to be considered as in character unless they are ensconced within double parenthesis like so: ((This is OOC, or Out of Character chat.))
5.) Postings that may seem offensive in The Pumpkin Patch are to be taken as in character and ignored as in character, unless they are ensconced in the double parenthesis that designates them as out of character chat.
6.) Out of character chat will be restricted to clearly designated locations outside the actual role-play thread/topic. In other words, No out of character chat will be allowed inside the actual role-play thread/topic.
7.) Out of character chat and discussions may be taken to Private Messaging as well as to the designated chat topics.
8.) Character creation may be done publicly via the Pumpkin Patch Gate topic, and your character specifications posted there so that everyone knows which character(s) you are playing.
9.) Any pets belonging to a specific character that have the gift of speech are allowed only if;
a.) A separate character sheet has been filled out for them.
b.) They have their own Player Character account.
10.) Due to the serious nature of this RP the use of certain items will be restricted. Among these are, the water guns, cakes, or any food items, including fresh water, capes. Banned items: Toad, Bass, any party items, chicken feathers, mutant chickens, bear hide, leather gloves. In the case of restricted items users best discretion is advised, one does not sit down with a massive being like Cthulu and divide up a cake, one might do so with Brayen who would be quite pleased in the appropriate setting. We would ask all participants to use the item system as an enhancement to the role-play, not as a chance to detract from the scene.
11.) The Dojo's normal rules regarding power playing are still in effect and will be strictly enforced. The Narrator is the final judge and arbiter of any outcome or dispute.
12.) The Dojo is a large realm nearly 300 miles from end to end. Travel not via Warp portal, or Unisus does take time. Violations of location will be considered power playing and will be dealt with accordingly.

Notes:
Please remember that all Role Players should follow the rules listed above
Please feel free to add photos, drawings, or other references to help everyone get a mental picture of your character.
Please post a character sheet for each character separately from any others. In other words create a new topic for each character sheet. Please use only the character's name as the topic.
Where possible, all role-play characters should have a separate account.
Please do not read other's character sheets before they are approved by myself, and those characters are added to the Pumpkin Patch Group. This will help avoid any problems in the role-play, as the character sheets as submitted might go through changes.
Do not be concerned if your character sheet topic becomes locked. That's just to let you know that I've seen it and will be getting in touch with you soon.

I'd like to note that The Companion of Light and The Narrator are here as my guest to host an exhibition RP.
And as such, they have my full endorsement and authority with this RP. Don't come whining to me about a decision they made, and do not whine to me about letting them here.
They will fall on deaf ears.

Hello everyone!
I've been looking over the character sheets that have been submitted here, and I'm very pleased with the fact that there are persons who have characters in all the factions here who have sent in character sheets! I'm so happy to see you all willing and eager to be involved in this exhibition, and I'm looking forward to all the fun we are going to have together.
I am having some diffculties, however, due to the fact that many of you seem to have misunderstood what I wanted to see in the Character Depth section of your sheets. I take this as entirely my own fault, and so I hope you'll bear with me as I try to help you understand what I'd like to see, so that we can all prepare ourselves for the action and adventure that I have in store for all of us.
In the character depth section of the character sheets I placed a few example questions that I wanted to see answered within a role play example. I then asked that you,

I did intend for you to role play the answers to the questions via a dialogue of introduction and greeting to myself, or link to, or quote specific role play where you had introduced yourself and/or interacted with other characters.
I know it seems a lot to go through, and I'm sure you are all wondering why I have asked for this. Truth to tell, the reason is simply that I don't know as much about you all as I would like, and certainly not as much as you would like, I'm sure. Now, in my defense, I and my moderators have been here many times over the last few weeks, reading and absorbing and discussing many things. But despite that fact we don't know all we should know. We could not read into private forums and see how your individual factions work from the inside. We couldn't for serious reasons of overload have read through every incident, or role play example that you have accrued over your remarkable first year of existance. We simply aren't able to know all that we'd like to know about you and your characters, and we were hoping that by providing us with character sheets you would be able to help us out a bit. After all, it's rather hard to ensure that we provide you with challenging play and action if we don't know precisely the things that make your characters as awesome as I know that they are.
Therefore I would like for all of you to please take a look at the following Character sheets that I feel are the best examples of what I'd like to see in a character sheet; Au'Marui, God of Insanity, Embri, and Mira Shatterstar. Each of the three mentioned have gone well out of their way to cite examples of role play, and to actually role play their answers. They are a shining example of what I want to see. I'd also like to point to KC11's sheet, where, although I didn't get to see role play in her character depth section, I did see much of her character due to her thoroughness in her answers. Her sheet will be entirely acceptable as soon as she pops in some role play, and/or links to previous role play under the character depth section.
If you are still unclear as to exactly what I want to see here, please send me a private message. I will be checking back here on a daily basis at least, and probably several times a day. I'm eager to see your most famous exploits and examples of precisely how wonderful your character is through visions of their proudest and most glorious moments of success as well as dismal failures!

I have a question about one of the rules:

Danikat has an entire army of speaking allies, the three main ones being her dragons Alzaranth and Veamoth and the armadillo Arian. The catch being 99% of the time they only speak to each other - Danikat is the only one who regually speaks to other characters.
I have absolutely no problems filling out seperate character sheets for them but it would be hugely impractical to give each one their own account. The end result would just be me logging in and out several times just to post one short coversation, which instead of being one paragraph would be spread over most of a page.
I've checked it with Treesprite and she said it would be ok for me to keep them all on one account (I do make sure its clear who's saying what when posting) but I just wanted to ask here as well to get official confirmation.

Ah, I see. I think that in your case, it could be allowed that you not have separate accounts for your pets/other characters since they speak only to you. I would ask though that you possibly use font styles or colors standard for each speaking character throughout the role play to make it easy for us to distingush who is speaking.

No, no, not at all. On the contrary your character sheet has been fully approved and as soon as everyone else is squared away and the role play topic in The Pumpkin Patch is unlocked and ready for postings, you'll be added to the Defenders of the Dojo group.

Your character sheets should be unlocked. *scratches head* I'm showing them as unlocked... Hmmm...
I'm glad to know that you are all eager to get going. I want to assure you that I am as well. I have noticed that there are a fair few persons who have joined in this venture, and I'm trying desperately to keep up with all of you. If I don't get to you right away bear with me. I'm going down the page of character sheets and taking notes and trying to absorb all I'm learning so we can get going on this as soon as possible.
Are there any questions about how the role play itself is going to be progressing?

After having read many of your character sheets I feel compelled to define the term "Pets" as I am using it in your character sheets. Pets are any animal, robot, or creature of any sort, that is controlled by and loyal to your character. For example Danikat's armadillo army qualifies as her pets, as well as Micheal Rawling's Mechs.
If you have an "army" of any pets I require that you not only fill out the pets section, but also answer the following:
1.) If these pets are members of an Army, how many individuals strong is your army?
2.) Do the officers of your army have any special powers over and above the average members? (Please outline all powers of the individual members.)
3.) Where is this army housed? |

Don't worry too much, the Narrator is a "very" busy Shee. I am sure he will contact you if he needs anything from you. It is more likely that he has just not seen the edits you have made. He has agreed to come and check on things once a day. So please do be patient, and bare with us as we continue to get things preped and ready. Thank you.

| I don't want to sound stupid, but I'm wondering where you (Danikat, Brayen, The Narrator, etc.) get your avatars from? They seem to be screenshots out of a game. I'm just wondering what game, if any, the avatars are from. |

I've a small bit of a complaint. I hope you'll all understand, but I'm a busy Shee, and I've only so much time to dedicate to being here everyday. If you would all do me the extreme favour of please posting your role play links as links to specific postings, rather than whole topics please? Thanks ever so much!
[edit] Many of you have not provided pictures, drawings, or art of any kind to let me see what your characters look like. Providing such would be wonderful! And an extra added dimension to my understanding of your characters. |
