This is an older character of mine. His profile was made with another roleplay group in mind, so it doesn't fit with BlackStar was well as it could. Tell me if it really needs changes or anything!
Name: Novak Newman
Age: 16
Gender: male
Species: Homo Superior (Mutant)
Height: 5' 10"
Weight: 160 lb.
General Appearance: slight slouch while standing. He has quite an odd appearance to him due largely to his attire. He sometimes plays off this and acts strangely, but his personality is known to change... perhaps this has something to do with his power? Perhaps.
Ethnic Background: Novak was born in the United States. He’s Caucasian.
Build: fairly tall, slightly lanky and thin; not muscular by any means.
Hair: Stringy, light blond, fluffy; arches up before coming down to about the bottom of his ear lobs.
Eyes: dull orange. No pupils- -one remaining effect due to the over-use of his power.
Clothing: Pants: usually baggy pants in a variety of colors. Shirt: A light colored T-shirt under a loose vest. Sometimes just a T-shirt. Shoes: White tennis shoes with dark colored accents. Hat: a dark green head-band that aids his hair in arching up and keeps it out of his eyes.
Physical Skills: he is very agile and dexterous and can jump quite high when he wants to.
Powers:
Novak can duplicate himself. Each duplicate is solid and can move and effect objects as any other person can. The duplicates, when created, seem to step out of Novak. He can also give other duplicates the ability to duplicate themselves. Novak can make duplicates at almost any time; only when he has made too many or has duplicated himself too frequently in a short period of time is he unable to continue to multiply himself. When he is unable to duplicate himself further, Novak seems to fade and his body becomes translucent; he is not sure what would happen to himself if he ever continued to multiply when in this state. When Novak is done with a duplication of himself, the duplicate steps back into Novak and is gone. Also, anything Novak is wearing or even holding is duplicated along with his body. When the duplicate that was holding an item merges with the original Novak, the item disappears even if the clone isn’t holding on to it at the time.
All of his duplicates share Novak’s memories and know everything he himself knows at the point of that duplicate’s creation, but they know they’re duplicates. When a duplicate returns to Novak with any new knowledge, Novak will also gain that information. The duplicates have their own free will when created without Novak’s conscious and specific orders with which he sometimes creates duplicates, but they act like Novak himself anyway, so he isn’t worried too much. Novak has previously sent duplicates out to complete certain tasks (such as fetching the remote, or some such thing) and the clones are usually very compliant when created with a specific goal in mind. His clones have also always obeyed him when he wants them to return to him and discontinue existing.
History:
Novak was always fascinated by mirrors: ‘twas but simple, shiny glass, yet could display a whole other world much like out own. This wonderment held Novak in it’s clutches for the vast majority of his youth and continued to linger as he grew.
One day, in the early evening, Novak was sitting in front of a full-length mirror attached to his closet door, trying to fan the flames of his childhood awe for the world beyond the reflective surface. With his eyes closed, he recalled all the whimsical adventures and tales he had created in his own mind years ago about the untouchable realm on the other side of the mirror. Such fantasy seemed beneath him now; as Novak had matured, he acquired more of a taste for science fiction rather than fantasy. He now contemplated how one could enter the “Mirror Worldâ€, or if his reflection led a life separate from his when he wasn’t looking. That would mean that there were two Novaks and truly two worlds existing on either sides of the glass, each inaccessible to the inhabitants on the opposite side. A smile crept up the side of Novak’s face as he humorously pondered all this with the acceptance of its absurdity. Another me living in a world viewable, yet completely unreachable, he thought. With a sigh, Novak opened his eyes and yet again became aware of the bland reality that he still occupied; waking up from a daydream is always a letdown.
But as Novak looked back up at the mirror, he wasn’t quite sure he had departed from his dream. What greeted his eyes in the mirror was one thing he never expected to see outside of his imagination. Novak, as he stared at the mirror, saw not only his own reflection looking back at him, but another Novak beside him, also staring intently at the mirror. In stunned silence, Novak turned his head away from the mirror to look at what was sitting with him on this side of the reflective glass. When he did, he saw that his other self was staring back at him; it was like looking into a mirror again. Quickly, Novak got up and backed away from his duplicate counterpart, and, to his horror, the other Novak did the same thing in the opposite direction, perfectly synchronized. With fear fading, Novak’s curiosity rose. He tested the duplicate by raising one hand into the air; the duplicate copied the movement with the opposite hand, just like a mirror.
“It just mirrors my movements...†Novak tried to rationalize, but as he spoke, the duplicate across from him repeated the words in harmony. And copies my words? What is this?, Novak thought to himself, not wanting the clone to speak again; it was just too eery. Is this just an illusion, some kind of trick? To test this, Novak reached out one finder towards the other Novak and at the point of symmetry, he did feel the other finger pressing against his own. He hastily recoiled his hand, This is just too weird. Weird, but something of welcome oddity; an escape from the mundane. Novak sighed, calming.
“So what are you?†he asked his duplicate, expecting nothing but his words repeated to him as he uttered them. As expected, Novak’s words were matched synonymously.
But after mimicking what Novak said, the duplicate replied calmly, “I am you.â€
With refreshed shock, Novak eyed his other self, “What did you say?â€.
This time the duplicate didn’t even echo Novak’s words, but reiterated, “I am you; you and I are the same.â€
Novak forced himself to calm down, “How are you me, aren’t I me?â€
“You are you, but so am I. We are the same, only separated.†the clone’s voice was identical to Novak’s, but eerily monotone.
“Hmm...â€, Novak sat down on the foot of his bed; the duplicate turned to face him, but remained where he was seated, no longer mirroring him, “So, how did we get separated?†he was now much more cool-headed than he was moments earlier.
The duplicate responded, “You did that; I am here because of you, in more ways that one.â€
I did it? How? “What do you mean ‘more ways that one’?â€
The clone smiled, “One: simply because you separated us, and two: because you wanted to prove that there was more to your seemingly mundane life. You wanted to be more than just another inhabitant in this world, you wanted something to set you apart from all the rest, and so here I am to show you that you do have that something.â€
Novak was silent for a moment, running what he just heard over in his head, and then concluded out loud, “I created you with a purpose...even though I didn’t consciously know I had created you at all; I just knew I needed what I created you for.â€
“Preciselyâ€, the alter Novak seemed pleased, then again, he had just accomplished his life’s goal, “So now that you know, you don’t need me anymore.â€
“Uhm, I guess not. Er, thanks.†Novak’s brain was still more than half preoccupied with what this all meant.
The duplicate, holding his hand up with its palm out, rose and said, “No need, that’s why I’m here.â€
With that, he walked towards Novak and disappeared from sight. Started by the duplicate’s sudden vanishing, Novak looked around, but found nothing that resembled what he was just talking to except the mirror which only mimicked him as always.
From then on, Novak continued to try, and seceded, to separate himself as he did before. He even found he could make more than one duplicate at a time. Soon after realizing this, he tested how many he could make and experienced, for the first time, becoming translucent, which was not a pleasant experience in the slightest. After seeing he had a limit, Novak kept the number of duplicated at any one time reasonably low; he avoided reaching him maximum at the small price of not knowing quite what it was. Novak also learned how to make duplicates both with and without a preordained task. _________________ "That's like dying, too," said Olhado.
"It's also like being born," said Ender, "As long as you keep getting born, it's all right to die sometimes."

"There are worse reasons to die," Ender answered, "than to die because you cannot bear to kill."
"What about someone," said Miro, "who can't kill, and can't die, and can't live, either?"
"Don't deceive yourself," said Ender, "You'll do all three someday."

This was the third character I've ever made. Novak is probably a little over a year old. _________________ "That's like dying, too," said Olhado.
