Oh yeah I've seen the light, I HAVE SEEN THE LIGHT! Just kidding, you can't convert me that easily

Ah, I see, there is no fear of this so called Evil Council. Then maybe their influence is not as powerful as one would have imagined. I do not wish to start a war. No, no, NO! I wish to create many a friendship, but shold harm or danger threaten my flock or I, then I will take appropiate defensive action.
But let the goodwill, peace and unity flow towards all. All have a chance of redemption, and I am that redemption.
As for the wonderful God of this domain - I intend to study their wishes, desires and ways and relay them back to my flock and all.
But, I have seen the disruption caused by the ones known as The Corporation, it, worries me, and brings sorrow to my heart. A new holy alliance must be formed, one to contradict these evil ways. I hope support from all groups and parties will be inculsive.
But for now, I intend to retire to my studies, with my brotha's and sista's. Any who wish to join us, you are most welcome...
*Two monks step from the bushes, short, bald, and looking in their mid-fifties, they both have one hand each hold some beads with a small cross, their other holding torches tapered off at the bottom in a golden sphere with a cross on the bottom and a cross on top, with the very top burning...*
Come, my children, and let us begin preparing for our sanctuary... _________________ Is there a supreme being? I can't answer that question for you. You can only have faith in what you believe. And I believe in a supreme being. |

In the face of horrors such as The Corporation, good and evil are meaningless. Your help will be much appreciated in the weeks to come, Father. _________________
Bah, Give me 2 days and a load of napalm...
As long as you leave us alone, we shall leave you in peace Mac, but do not attempt to convert our members. Your goodness makes me slightly queasy.
I'm afraid Mr.P (as in Mr.T, but the P stands for Preacher. From now on I shall refer to you by that) that the EC is here to stay, we enjoy our evil ways, and soon we shall cover this land in darkness! Stay away from our cave, lest you become the new Cornelius! _________________ I like big cookies and I cannot lie,

I am mocked by those with no guidance. My soul is strong, my faith stronger. I shall leave your cave be, as you wish it, and, should your members wish to remain in corruption, then, may they stay.
Should any wish to reform, I shall not say no, but open my arms wide and help them cast their demons aside.
This Corporation appears to be unholy destructive. If beliefs can be put to one side, then maybe, we can help save this place. Once all is complete, we shall go our separate ways.
Follow the light, and may your faith take you safely.... _________________ Is there a supreme being? I can't answer that question for you. You can only have faith in what you believe. And I believe in a supreme being. |

I'll answer for him, since I am here, and he is not... Well, I am always here...
Faith is a term that varies in the eyes of the beholder. How one defines the term "Faith" is completly up to them... however if you want something offical like here it is...

Do you not have faith in anything wise one?
I know little of Kalevala's Sampo, however, it has a powerful belief system within the Finnish community. I am not one to discuss this subject however.
Faith, faith is something that keeps me strong. As long as I have faith in myself, in my beliefs in what I believe is right, I have the strength to go on.
One cannot define faith to any particular being or item as a generalisation. Faith can be placed into anything. It is incredible what some people have faith in. I have encountered tribes with faith in a tribal bowl, something that gave them strength to continue their struggle in such harsh conditions.
As I say, my faith is in me. My beliefs in many God's. And how I shall praise them. Oh praise indeed. _________________ Is there a supreme being? I can't answer that question for you. You can only have faith in what you believe. And I believe in a supreme being. |

Very well. You speak of faith in terms of an emotional certainty through which various struggles can be overcome. A worthwhile definition, for yourself. For myself, I fear, certainty is not something that can serve as such an anchor. One cannot be sure if one's perceptions are correct. A lunatic may believe that the earth does not exist, yet on throwing him or herself off a tower, he or she make an impact just as messy as any person without such a certainty.
I fear that the universe has no constants to which an individual can cling. For all I know, I may be deluding this conversation as a mad-man or mad-beast in some prisoner’s cell. In that hypothetical world not locked in my hypothetical madness, laws like my conception of physics may be completely impossible. Dethrone Newton's laws, O Real-Universe-Which-Is-Or-Is-Not! Fall, Max Planck and your innovations! With that possible intellectual blow, I abandon thee and thy theory, Einstein!
Such a hypothetical world may exist. Or, it could be a vain fancy I try to conceive for argument’s sake. Can one truly be certain in either case? As long as I cannot have this certainty, I can have no anchor for myself such as you have in your faith.
All I know that is this, my perception: No codified laws govern the cosmos’ entities, after those of the physical world. A dropped stone will fall because of gravity, so long as one resides on a body of large enough mass. The stone is immutably bound to such a law. Yet a stone dropped from a great height onto the head of a child underneath will never veer from its path, regardless if such a child will live or die through such an action. Therefore, no universal law of sense, justice and reason controls reality. There is no universal definition of truth, no codified book of meaning. Everything simply happens, for ill or for good.
And in this chaotic stew of events happening, entities are governed by their own self interest. Every organism exists to survive long enough to reproduce offspring. Regardless of the form or demeanour - paramecia or person, dog or divine – any entity will always resort to maintaining its existence for long enough to achieve the goal of survival. A starving animal would turn on its own siblings to sate the overwhelming drive of hunger; a dying god will enlist dire means to protect its waning existence. A few may act selflessly through some moral or legal code, but, with the degradation and eventual removal of such an invented system will either see such an individual perish, or abandon their previous mode of thinking.
So this is the universe, governed by this invisible hand chaotic events spontaneously happening, in which individuals vie for the power to meet their own needs. Through this system of competition, each fights for their own gratification. Only through strength does an individual meet their wants and needs, and only through liberation from the fetters of social systems does an individual achieve true strength. I am not the strongest being in the cosmos, am I? Therefore, I am doomed to be used by someone or something, lest I somehow work to acquire power, or bow to a system of social restraint. Yet what good comes of such systems? They stagnate, they putrefy, they crumble and decay into mouldering shadows of the ideals they served. All I can rely on is myself to survive in this universe. No god, no system, no one and no thing can truly be trusted or relied upon.
There is no faith, Father.

I think the word "Plarb" sums up any contribution I could try to make at the moment.
However I'll say, this:
Father Mac, right? All groups are welcome, and I see by the fact you use the ** symbols you are no stranger to our form of RP.
I sugest you start to band a group of your own to rival that of the EC's, new opposistion is always welcome. |
