[Possible Feature]Prillian, mark 2

One of the big deals about getting our own webspace was the increased bandwidth.

Why is this important?

Prillian.

What's prillian? If you have to ask, you're new. Thus you will be happy to know that it was Blackstar's Web based IM service...sorta. It's kindof an superPM, in reality.

I'm considering (re)installing it, and wish to gain interest/want for this.

Prillian's a cool feature, I used to use it quite a bit .

Now that we don't run the risk of crashing teh server with overflow, my opinon is "Hell yes."

My option was"Hell no" because as far as I'm consernded, because we have PMs and we can alreay tell who's online and doing what.

Any options it provided I'm pretty sure we have here already in some shape or form. I'm not sure, seeing as I rarely used it.

Personally I'd always used Prillian for small stuff, like asking people if they wanted to do something, reminding people to get posting (or being reminded to go and post somewhere ), simple one sentance questions, small talk, that sort of thing. Using PMs for that tends to be a pain, since I've got to delete my sent PM, delete the received PM once I've read it, etc, etc.

I don't know about other people, but my PM inbox is almost always full, so bringing Prillian back would be awesome .

It never worked for me, so I vote no.
What's the point in having something not everyone can use?

But then again, if I'm the only person who can't use it you can all go off with you super cool Prillan and be all like "Haha! Raven can't be cool like us with our super cool Prillan!" And that would make me sad.

No. We have MSN, JRChat and PMs for the same reason, and it doesn't run the risk of crashing the server. Maybe some way of announcing new PMs to the user (IE a message bar between the stock ticker and the forum index) to make sure they realize there's a PM waiting for them in their inbox.

The only reason the server shut us down last time was from bandwidth over-usage; we now have so much space, we're not even using 1% of it!

So basically, we aren't going to lose Blackstar by reinstalling Prillian, and I find it useful to be able to IM people, especially those who may not have MSN (or wish to share their MSN with everyone), and it works no matter which computer you happen to be at.

The system was useful, yes. I feel a second chance would allow for a new beginning. But I would proceed with caution. The service should be optional, users should be able to switch it on and off as they see fit. Certain public computers (i.e. library, etc) have popup blockers that alert administrators of possible illegal usage. It is always obnoxious to receive dirty looks for an authority figure whenever there is need to reload a page.

I should like to see this system implemented, but with care.

I like Net's idea of a more prominent alert that you have PMs, particularly if a user has PM pop-ups disabled.

I like Prillian too. Wasabi. Just because.
