Goron vs Yoshi

((I see, I see. And I apologize for the OOC, I'm just having minor difficulties with your phrasing. Its not like what I'm used to dealing with. So vague...))

Yoshimasa quickly batted the grenade away with his staff. It flew towards the tree and exploded, sending Yoshimasa and several hundred small pieces of wood backwards. Yoshimasa hit the ground and a piece of wood drove itself into his shoulder. He stumbled up to face his foe, "Nasty little toys, to be honest. Never liked those. I was always more of a nature guy in my younger days. Liked trees and what-not, talked to birds. Bit flaky. Oh, what am I saying, nothing has changed since then." Goron landed and spoke, "Shadows, you say? Easy way to remedy that." Suddenly, everything around the two competitors radiated light. Every inch on every tree, every foot of ground, everything shone vibrantly. There was not a single spot of shade anywhere. It was as if the world was bathed in light. "Almost feels like home!"

((So technically now, we shouldn't be able to see anything except each other.

Anyone else and they would have just stepped out of the shade of the tree ))

"Very well. This is an inconvenience, but that is all."

Goron drew forth several shuriken, which he hurled in 8 different directions, only one at his opponent. In this light, the small blades were difficult to see, but Goron was intending to see them. He paused for a moment and listened.

Seven clinks echoed through the arena as the projectiles struck stone. Like a radar gun, Goron timed the return of each sound, providing him with his exact location in the arena. In his mind, he formed a mental map of the locale.

Goron reached over to his right arm and pressed a few buttons on the console. First, the machine glowed for a moment before extending the plasma sword that had become so commonplace. You could barely see it against the light emitting background, but it had a slight color hue different than the pure white that was shining from all around it.

Secondly, Goron lowered his voice and spoke to his AI. "Calibrate my carbine for this guy, I may need to use it..."

Allissa beeped in response.

"Right then."

He unsheathed his steel katana, whose blade shown brightly in the flare that had engulfed the arena. It too, was difficult to see. At a quick glance, it would look as if Goron was holding nothing.

"If this reminds you of home," Goron said with a look of uncertainty, "I don't like your decor. It's a bit cheery if you ask me."

((Hahahaha! True, but why conceal the symptoms when you can treat the disease just as easily?))

The shuriken lodged itself in the top branch of his staff's cross. "Oh my! Such a critic!" Yoshimasa stared at his opponent as he drew the blade, "It looks so pretty in the light, so deceiving as to its true nature. Fascinating, really, when you think about it, how simple context can change your entire feeling about an object. Two great warriors locked in incredible combat, fighting in a luminous field of light would make any ordinary object look grand. You could be holding a spoon and it would fill someone with wonder. And you might as well be, too." It was then that Yoshimasa, too, bled light, his body bathed in the glowing ether of their surroundings. He blended in so beautifully with his heavenly surroundings, and his shoes on grass made but the breathing of a mouse.

Goron punched the satellite mapper on his console. The machine hummed for a second, then his display was covered by a map of the Arctic Plains.

In high orbit above the Dojo, the GORON satellite adjusted one of its lenses, focusing in on the arena. The optical zoom had its uses, such as now. With the satellite's thermal vision activated, Yoshi's position was far more apparent than to the naked eye.

It wasn't the perfect system (Goron had to check his console every few seconds), but it was a step up from blindly swinging at his opponent. Goron took one last glance at his HUD, then threw himself at Yoshi. His two blades twirled wildly, hoping to hit his target.

Yoshimasa saw Goron suddenly flailing toward him. Sadly, due to the glare, it was not so easy to see the blades. One scratched across his cheek, and the other made a considerable gash in his leg. He cried out as the steel sliced his frail skin. Yoshimasa wildly thrust the pointed end of his staff towards Goron and lept backwards.

Goron was already on the fallback when the staff struck him. He had anticipated such a reaction, and his backward momentum lessened the blow. His sheilds took the brunt of it, but they had had enough and quit out as the staff impacted them.

Goron jumped backwards to the center of the arena. He had to do something about this light. Goron could not continue fighting like this. The light had to go. Goron deactivated his energy sword and popped open the cover of his console.

"You've work with light all your life I suppose," Goron began as he fiddled with the inside of his console, "But, did you ever stop to wonder how it works? It's facinating... light. See, visible light falls into a spectrum of radiation. Specifically, electromagnetic radiation. Therefore, with the right magnetic field, and the proper power source..."

Goron made one final connection and snapped the cover closed. The console sprung to life with a hum. Suddenly, the light waves began to bend away from the arena, bringing its features and occupants back into full view.

"... you can change its path of travel," Goron said with a smile, "It's known as the Faraday Rotation. Discovered in 1845 by esteemed physicist, Micheal Faraday."

Goron had basically made his console into a giant magnet, which was affecting the entire arena with magnetism. Unfortunately, it had rendered all of the console systems (with the exception of the AI) useless.

"Let's see how you fight on level ground then..."

Yoshimasa claps his hands in a steady applause, "A incredible feat! You are the first to ever manage to dispel my light. The first to ever step so unharmed out of the 'glowing world'. However, at what cost have you done this? I hope to find out, and to show you.", Yoshimasa lazily waved his hand over his body and his minor wounds disappeared, the larger wounds growing a thin layer of soft skin to stop bleeding and most pain, "Let us see how we do, now, all pretenses and toys aside. A straight match, as it were. The most difficult and pleasing of all games."

Goron took a quick scan of his surroundings and retreated backwards, until he was touching a tree at the edge of the arena. The sun was in his face, so only shade to be found was behind the tree. In front of him was a good 100 feet of open ground, unsheilded by shadow. On the far side of the lighted area, stood his target. Beyond that, was more shadow. To fight Yoshi, Goron would need to use what little shade he could find on this side of the field, his opponent had the other side covered.

He tossed a shuriken at Yoshi to entice him into battle, then fell back to the safety of the tree. As had been proven, a fight on open ground with this one was not an appealing prospect.

Yoshimasa easily caught the shuriken on his staff, just like the last one. "Playing mouse? How amusing, and ineffective. You see, to have a mouse, you must have a willing cat. I hate the way cats hunt. I'd much rather adopt the position of the pest exterminator. Set the trap... and BANG they're dead. Efficient and effective until the end. The mouse never knows what hit it."

"Mouse is politcally incorrect. We prefer the term: 'You stupid camping sniper! When I respawn I'm going to rocket your ass!.'"

Having had enough with the ineffective shuriken, Goron slid the Carbine of Infinite Fears off his back. Dropping to a crouch to steady his aim, Goron looked down the barrel of the rifle, lining the sight up with Yoshi.

"I wonder... what do you fear most? Being the master of light, I would assume that you are afraid of the dark... we shall soon see."

The bullet that had been configured by Allyssa earlier popped up and out of the clip and into the main barrel. It glowed with circuitry that was its real weapon. Behind the bullet, gases combined to create an explosion. The rapidly expanding gases pushed on the hilt of the projectile and propelled it rapidly down the barrel and onwards towards its target.

"Huh? What's that thing?", Yoshimasa had little time to respond before the bullet whacked him.

~Within the illusion~
The world went dark. "What's going on? Where'd he go?", Yoshimasa looked around the inky depths of his surroundings, but could distinguish nothing. He waved his hand and the area illuminated revealing a man in a white robe facing away from him in an empty gray room. Yoshimasa's face suddenly became very grave. His customary smile disappeared for the first time in a long time. He began to approach the figure, and as he did, the figure began to turn around smoothly and fluidly. Yoshimasa took the final step and was an arm's reach away from the robed being and at the same time the robed being turned around, he face turned to the ground so that his hood completely concealed him. Yoshimasa spoke, "And so we meet again!", the figure remain silent but his head began to rise up to meet Yoshi's. There, staring back from the frame of the hood was the mask of an ape. Yoshimasa gave a little smile and grabbed it, pulling it off to reveal a skull. The figure opened his arms wide and a scythe was revealed in his hand. It laughed hysterically. Yoshimasa replied quite simply, "Stupid mouse."
~Outside of illusion~

Yoshimasa doubled over from the impact of the projectile. Then, a strange look passed over his face and he straightened up. "What's going on? Where'd he go?" Yoshimasa's head whipped around in an exaggerated fashion. Then his arm gave a spasmatic movement with his arm, but nothing happened. Then he began to walk jerkily in the general direction of Goron."And so we meet again!", he screamed. He stopped and grabbed at the air. "Stupid mouse."

Goron's AI was silent. The calibration and firing of that bullet had drained it of energy. It was unimportant. Goron watched as the bullet hit its mark and took effect. He always liked to try and guess what the target was fearing, but this time, he just wanted to finish the fight.

While his opponent wrestled with his sanity, Goron moved around behind him to end this fight. He stared at the back of Yoshimasa's head. Of all the ways he could think to end this fight, he had chosen this one for its simplicity and the fact that it did little permanent damage.

"Now... gotta aim this just right... where was that spot...?"

Goron shook his head and tried to remember back to humanoid biology in 10th grade.

"Let's see..." Goron said as he examined the back of Yoshi's neck, "Of course!"

Wasting no further time, Goron withdrew a shuriken and raised it over his head. At the last second, before he impaled Yoshi on it, Goron flipped the blade around, so it was hilt-first, and went for the knock-out.

Yoshimasa merely stood there. Before him, he saw the grim face of death. Behind him stood his adversary, poised to strike. He was helpless. The foe he could see was neither there, nor vulnerable. The foe which he could not see was ready to strike, but open to his strikes. Ironic until the end. Yoshimasa couldn't help but laugh. He laughed at his loss, he laughed in the face of that specter. He laughed, and waited for one or the other to finish him.
