I'm not quite sure if this is the right place for me to be posting this, so if not, feel free to move the thread, or deleat it or something.

After posting my story in the ampitheatre, I've come to find that I've only recieved sixteen looks at it, with no comments, and I do believe that four or five of those 'looks' were actually mine. =/

So, I have no idea if any one has even read the story, or much more unlikely, all of it. However, I have noticed that when other people put up stories in segments (as in, they put a somewhat shorter part in a post, allow people to read and comment, before putting in the next part) they get more reads, and more comments.

So, my question is: Would any one be willing to read my story if I broke it up into smaller chunks?

Realistically, everyone gets roughly the same amount of people who view their stories. The reason the chaptered stories get more views is because the same people keep coming back to read new chapters when they come out.

Basically, breaking a a story up will gather no extra readers, but it will most likely increase the view count.

Although smaller chunks do make for incredibly easier reading. I've had a small and brief look, and, well, they're humongous Ashen Confused

I am planning to read it, just when I have the mental and ocipital dexterity to do so. I though 3kul wrote speeches, but yours is really something. That's a good thing, its good to have someone who has lots to say/write.

And Gorons right, a higher post count is just indicative of return readers to check out the latest chapter. So don't be put off or anything. And sometimes, you won't get comments, why I dunno. It's a mystery.. Rolling Eyes

True though that is, it still hasn't helped with the comments part. =/

It's not that I want more counts, per say, but rather I'd enjoy it if someone (anyone really) commented on my story. I've gotten the feeling that, since I usually chunk them all together, people don't take the time to read all the way through it because frankly, it's too big and it would take too long. Those who do read any amount of it without finishing probably don't want to comment until they've read it all the way through. At least, that's what I gather.

It all boils down to the fact that I end up with no comments really. I've had the story up for nearly a week now, and I've gotten no feed back- which is something that I would really like, seeing as how I'm going to be going to college shortly to become a writer, and to do that job well you really need people that enjoy your work. If I get no comments, I feel as though I've done a bad job (though that may not be the case. Technically no one has said that my story was bad- it just bothers me that no one has said it was any good either), and if I have, I'd like people to tell me what they think I should work on so that I can fix it.

I understand that a lot of people just don't have the time to sit down and read a large portion of writing, then comment on it. Heck, some of us only get random glances at the computer at times, so reading a huge story is out of the question.

That's really why I asked if breaking it down would help- Make it easier on the eyes, give people a better chance to read through it, and if they're short on time, allow them to still be able to make a quick comment on it before dashing off to more important matters.

Let's be serious- If any one has been in the ampitheatre recently, how many of you can tell me whether or not you've read through the entire story, instead of clicking on it to see what it is, realizing that it's stupidly long and then, without ever reading any bit of the post, moving on to something else just to get the golden image next to the ampitheatre to go away?

Then tell me how many people have gone into the ampitheatre, and upon clicking on a second story, you see a decent sized post and go ahead and read it, but then keep on reading even after that post just because you gave it a chance and actually got caught up in the story?

EDIT: Gah! Durn it GBE! You posted while I was writing mine up. XD

I understand that it's big, and hard to read in one sitting. That's why I asked if breaking it up would make it better for everyone.

You know, though you both have indeed brought up good points, no one has really as of yet answered my orrigional question. =/

Bite sized chunks are easier to read, in my experience. While long stories do not usually put me off reading, I haven't read anything in the Amphithreater lately, as I just don't have the time. Sad

It can work to your advantage to have short segments of a story, for a few reasons - 1, people are more likely to look at stories that are near the top of the list, and every time you post, as you well know, your thread moves up. 2, higher view counts indicate more "popular" stories, (not necessarily higher quality ones) which are more likely to be looked at. 3, as you've figured out for yourself, staring at a mammoth story of many paragraphs can stop people from reading. A sad thing to say, but in today's bite sized three second attention span economy, you have to deliver up media in hors d'oeuvres sized pieces. A short introductory post also works well, much like the inside flap/back cover of a story - hooks the reader into reading more.

Hope some of that helps...

I knew there was something I forgot to do. Not had the time recently to read it, Ashen. Sorry, please don't eat me again. Wink

Ahem, well anyway I'll read it once I have the time. Only had the time to read a few things here, add a quick one line comment and vanish. I've even stopped posting in RP's, life is getting serious. Surprised

But Cloud... You're just so delicious and filling!

... Aaaand, why does that sound terribly, terribly wrong? >>

In any case, seeing as how some of you have stated that you intend upon reading it, I bring you back to my previous question, reformated for your viewing pleasure.

Would it help you guys out, in reading it, if I just put up a small portion at a time? Like, right now. If I just went back, cut it up, and left you with little tid bits, would that make it easier on you?

It could do, means I could read a paragraph, then know where I am and return to it later. Very Happy

Quick, Ashen has been infected with the Panther virus! Someone get me some...wait, who is the anti Panther? We must know this to find a cure. Razz

(No offence. I just thought, you know... A priest might not be prone to random smutness? Possibly?)

The anti-Panther would probably be a Rubix Cube, as I cannot deem them to be kinky in any sort...

Well, there is that one pickup line...

BUT ANYWAY.

I'll read and comment on your story Ashen- I just haven't been to the Ampitheretre-thing lately.

"You can play with me like you do a rubix cube."
"I know a way to win a rubix cute, and with a person. Take off everything on them. Wink"

"I'm more complicated then a rubix cube, but I know what I want. You."

Mhm, all off the top of my head... now, what to do with the cube...

Oh! If you cut out one side you could store contraseptives in it for the 'innocent look'.

I could go on and on.
The point is, anything can be dirty.

Why a flamethrower? I thought you'd throw smut around, it's more your style. Wink

Indeed!

*tosses out the flamethrower, grabs a permanant ink pen, and begins writing on stuff and people*

'Cloud shivered in his lover's arms, the blush rising to his cheeks. "I-I've never kissed a werecat before..." He mumbled shyly, glancing up at Neko...'

Net: Ah gods, get a room you two!
Neko: We are in a room, though. Our room.
Net: Well, that explains the musky odor, but what's this..?
Neko: Net2's crotch.
Net: ...Oh.
