Posted: Tue Mar 13, 2007 1:23 am Post subject: Team Battle: EC Vs. Guardians! |
|
|
Welcome to the first round (and last) of the Team Olympics! We're here at Uncle Harry's Gigantanormous Space Zoo, which we've leased out as a field for our Olympic contenders to battle on!
As we all no doubt already know, Uncle Harry's Gigantanormous Space Zoo is a series of terraformed asteroids revolving around a near-dead sun that's been stabalized with Psychotopian Sun-Stabalizer technology! However, for the purposes of this match, said stabalizers have been DISABLED! So not only will asteroids be peroidically DISINTERGRATED by solar flares, the entire sun itself will go supernova if you don't get out of there in time, or at least find the secret asteroid control center in the center of the field and turn the stabalizers back on!
Now, there are five asteroids, excluding the ones our contestants start on! Our contestants will have to land on each. They can try skipping them, but their oxygen and fuel tanks will most likly die, leaving them to float in the vaccum of space with no life support for all entenity. Doesn'rt that sound FUN, kids?!
The path is simple, the EC start on one side of the belt, the Guardians on the other:
Plains (EC start here) - Jungle - Cliff - City - Volcano - River - Plains (Guardians start here)
And now for a quick explanation of your environment!
Plains: The perfect place to set up a mini-base, giant catapult, whatever tickles your fancy really.
Jungle: Watch out for Jaguars and other Jungle wildlife
Cliff: I hope you aren't afraid of heights, 'cause the only way out is down and we didn't pack you any absailing equipment. Watch out for the Pterodactyls that call this asteroid home!
City: Just like the first match, except by now the sun'll be about to go supernova and you'll be running to find the control center - Even if it means teaming up with the enemy!
Volcano: Can you get across a rickety bridge without falling into the lava-And before the volcano erupts? Urban legend has it that the Abominable Fireman lives here, so be veeery cautious.
River: The way forward is downstream, but can you avoid the rocks and fight off the currents long enough to survive these crocodile-infested waters? One wrong turn and you could be up the proverbial creek without a paddle!
Plains: See above.
Now, this will probably take a fair while to get through, so unlike last year where the fight ended half-way through, this time the judges will choose when to end the fight!
So without further ado, let's get ready to rumble!!!
*Is dive-tackled by dozens of Lawyers.*
((Just a few things I need to add: A significant chunk of this RP will be a race against time to get to the city, find the control center and stop yourselves from being evaporated. You don't have to co-operate, but co-operation is allowed, so long as it's realistic (You're not best buds, you're mortal enemies).
We won't be sitting around pulling random encounters out of our asses like they do on Pokemon. If you want to be attacked by angry bears, you just say it and it'll be so. In other words, you can choose when and where bad things happen.
That said, you're being judged on your RPing skill, not your speed. It's in your best interests to challenge your characters, and if we think you're getting off too easy we can step it in and have our way with you. And you don't want that.
Remember, this is supposed to be fun. We've given you a lot of leeway simply because you're all very good RPers and we want you to have as much fun as possible. Don't abuse it.)) _________________
Bah, Give me 2 days and a load of napalm...
Within the vastness of outer space, a large and rumbling shuttle came into view. It looked beaten and run down, and little bits and pieces of it were falling off in a manner that a certain someone did not enjoy.
Ashen swallowed slightly, and closed her eyes tightly as she saw yet another piece of the craft float innocently away outside the window. The red haired woman sat stiff and straight, her legs pressed so tightly together that they were shivering. The red tatoos on her body seemed to have darkened, and they had taken on an almost brown color. Strapped into an air shuttle chair and clinging to the bars that held her torso in place was not something she had planned on doing today.
The rumbling feeling came on in her stomach again even as the turbulance sign flickered infront of her. She swallowed, trying to keep her mind (and stomach) steady. Being ill wasn't going to help her team win the Olympics this year.
Finally, the shuttle stopped, and though she still felt the slow spinning movements of the asteroid they had landed on, she was relieved. Tearing herself from the restraints as fast as she possibly could, the huntress jumped from her seat and proceeded to pound in annoyance at the air locked door of the shuttle. When it finally began to open, she pushed her body through the crack in the door until she was finally free.
And then, she promptly puked.
After a bout of gagging, she coughed and spat out the remains of her lunch (space peanuts and root beer), then pushed herself up from her crouched position on the ground. Surprisingly, she laughed, feeling quite the bit better after the contents of her stomach had emptied. It was at this time that she finally took her chance to survey the area.
All around, she could see flat and grassy plains, tan plants pushing up from brightly tinted sand. Looking up, however, showed a massive sun, and an endless void of space. Her stomach churned a bit at the thought that she had just flown through that, but she looked away to hold the heaviing feeling at bay.
Turning her head, however, caused her eyes to lay on a sight that intrigued her- a half built castle of sandy bricks, with enough extra bricks laying about for them to finish the building, and possibly even remodle the place.
Finally, after kicking some sand over her... mess, Ashen turned and headed back toward the ship. The shuttle's door was all the way open now, and she peeked her head inside, finding her collegues unloading within. Her emerald eyes, now with an impish sheen to them, glittered on at her team mates as she raised her eye brows playfully. This was one 'hunt' that she would really enjoy, even if she had to do it in a group.
"I think you'll all like what's out here so far," She stated, smiling and motioning with her hand for them to head out. "Come see, would you?"
As she looked on at them, she suddenly frowned. "By the by," She added confusedly. "Where did Furnace sit? He couldn't fit in the seats..." After a moment, her eyes widened slightly. "You don't think they stuffed him in the luggage section, do you?" _________________

"Gangway, Ashen!"
Rai seemed to literally leap out of the shuttle like a deer when it landed. Her fiery hair tied was into a ponytail, and she wore her common outfit- Black jeans (slightly ratty and faded) and red short-sleeved shirt that was covered by the long black trenchcoat that rarely ever left her person. It's inner pockets contained various books and small bags of powder; elements ground into a simple and pliable form. The back of the coat had a large red flamel, the symbol that most alchemists had somewhere on them.
Her white gloved hands met with the ground in an overzealous display of affection.
"Sweet, sweet ground! How I missed you and your beautiful components!"
The alchemist then proceeded to kiss the grassed plain without any regard for reputation. _________________ Don't blink. Don't sleep. Monsters are falling from the sky. |

The Dark Fire Dragon sneezed as the small room around him had filled with smoke on the journey to this Arena. Well, it was small to him, though it probably would have been huge to anyone else. He'd had to tightly curl himself up just to fit in here, with his wings folded tight against his sides and his deadly tail brought around as close to his head as he deemed safe.
~How humiliating~
He thought privately to himself, as bags of supplies bounced around him and in one case, hit him in the eye as the shuttle came down to land on the asteroid. Furnace growled low as the turbulence made the craft shake and the bags bounce around even more, and he was sure he could hear metal being torn off outside.
Thankfully, the shuttle landed, although the Dark Fire Dragon had to wait a little for the bags to settle before he came to the difficult task of getting out. Or more specifically, how to get out.
He waited for a few minutes to see if any of his team mates realised he was in here. They didn't come, and he could definitely hear voices close by outside.
Getting impatient now, the Dark Fire Dragon roared so loud in frustration it shook the entire shuttle. He violently unravelled himself and burst out of the backside of the ship, sending metal and luggage scattering about everywhere as he emerged.
The black and red creatures bright red eyes burned even fiercer with anger than they did with just his inner fire as he roared a second time in jubilation at being free, and almost seemed to strut away before stretching himself out.
"When I found out whose idea it was to put me in there I'm gonna stuff them in a metal box and shake them about in it!"
He said in frustration, his pride and ego having suffered from another deflation.
He stretched his wings out as he overlooked the scene, the two humans, Rai and Ashen, had already got out and one of them appeared to be worshipping the ground.
His black scales shone in the sunlight, while his red underscales glowed almost as bright a red as his fiery eyes. The spiky ridges down his back and the spikes that clustered about the edge of his tail made small grooves in the grassy land as his tail swished slowly back and forth. The claws on the ends of his four legs also left their mark on the earth of the asteroid, sending up small clumps of plants and dirt as he walked.
He turned his fiery eyes on the two humans, the smoke that constantly escaped from his nostrils in wisps becoming thicker as he snorted at the alchemists behaviour.
"I thought you to be a little more dignified than that, scientist"
He commented. It seemed the partial destruction of the ship and subsequent scattering of their supplies and belongings didn't bother the Dark Fire Dragon one bit. Why should it when he had no need of material things anyway? He really didn't understand these creatures sometimes. _________________ Baker of the radioactive three-eyed flying purple cookie eating brownies!

Rai stopped mid-worship and looked up at the dragon.
"I happen to like my feet on solid ground, and not in some rickety old space shuttle, thank you very much."
She stood, brushed herself off, and headed towards the back of the ship. After searching about in the luggage for a few minutes, she found a large brown suitcase and dragged it to her previous position. She bent down and examined it with a scrutinizing eye.
"It's a good thing you didn't crush this, Furnace, I have automail replacements in here." _________________ Don't blink. Don't sleep. Monsters are falling from the sky. |

Ashen was admitedly somewhat startled when the large dragon burst free form the cargo hold. It just wasn't something you'd see every day. Sure, a large dragon bursting from out of a cave would be something she'd expect, but a cargo hold? That in itself was surprising.
As she watched Furnace stretch his large wings, she noted that thankfully she hadn't brought any luggage with her. The most she needed was the pouch at her hip, her flute, and her ring.
The grin on her face at seeing her companions getting prepared faded slightly as a second thought came to mind- When was that timer on the sun beginning?
Almost as soon as she had thought of it, a small pamphlet floated down. Watching it as she tapped her chin with one finger, she finally bent down to retrieve it, reading it quietly under her breath.
"'Right about now'?" she repeated confusedly, furrowing her eye brows. "Right about now what?"
As those words crossed her lips, another pamphlet floated down before her. Catching this one before it hit the ground, she quickly flipped it open and read it quietly, before staring at it in shock.
"'Right about now the timer is starting, stupid'?!" She spluttered. Her eyes now frantic, she looked up at her companions and hurried closer to them.
"Everyone," She stated loudly, worry and haste wracking her vocabulary, "Now! We need to go now! The sun! Timer! Go! Boom!"
After her intelligent statement, she turned and took off running in a seperate direction- only to run right back to where she had been standing, nervously irratated.
"Where do we go?" She shouted frantically, her heart racing and her tatoos glowing a vibrant red. "How are we supposed to know which end of this stupid asteroid we jump off of?"
As she stated this, a final pamphlet floated down and hit her in the noggin. Tearing it from her scalp, she hurriedly opened it, and quite nearly ripped it in half. The huntress jumped slightly, and pointed at the paper in glee.
"Map! We have a map!" She stated, waving the third pamphlet about. "Come on! We have to go! We need the fastest on our team to leave, probably very soon, so who's staying here and who isn't?"
Looking on at both Rai and Furnace she waited for an answer, only to blink and look back at the ship. "Dang it all!" She shouted, rushing over to the entrance of the shuttle. "Where's Holloweyes?!" _________________

Gabe sat, as always, in silence within the cabin of the ship as they hurtled towards the asteroid. He was expressionless and his eyes were closed. Deep breaths issued from his nostrils giving the impression that a bull was nearby and rather angry.
His muscles momentarily flexed for seemingly no reason other than to give an angry demeanor. Gabe was however not in the slightest bit angry, this was just quiet time for him.
The shuttle landed down with a soft thump and the door soon opened. Out rolled the other Guardian members onto the asteroids surface. Gabe slowly stood up and lurched out of the exit.
The shuttle seemed to re-buckle like a car with too much weight on its axle being suddenly lifted.
He stretched his wings to their full span, while not as impressive as his muscular weight - still, impressive.
Ahead was what could only be conceived as a "Bio Dome" like structure. Tall mechanical devices built in circles sending energy waves into a dome-like shape over whatever was inside. It seemed rather complex and yet depleted somehow as if it was tiring.
Gabe grunted to the others as he saw 2 figures watching them from the distance.
Small in stature with staffs and bent over figures. Their hair was spiky and ruffled and they wore alot of beads and jewellery. They seemed to be keeping to a perimeter range of the dome; as if scared to go any further.
While the rest of the team stared and contemplated these creatures, who equally were as interested in them, Gabe went to the back of the shuttle and opened a hatch. Out poured the luggage of the others and Gabes pouch of vials.
Within each vial (five in total) there were blood samples taken from himself. Upon breaking the vial (with sufficient impact) the blood will explode in a napalm-like frenzy. He just thought they might be useful. He passed the others and began heading towards the bio dome... _________________ ~Men live for a lifetime, hero's live forever~ |

Furnace watched Ashen dash about with a bemused eye as he continued to stretch himself, being cooped up in the back of that shuttle had given him cramp in so many limbs he needed to make sure he could still move fast enough to be of any use.
He yawned, a large puff of smoke escaped from his throat and into the open air before he closed his jaw with a snap and continued watching the humans antics.
"I'm probably the fastest here"
He said, then brought his head a little closer down to the shuttles entrance, the apparently indecisive Ashen and Rai.
"That Parasitian was sitting in there with you, wasn't he? How could you not see where he went?" _________________ Baker of the radioactive three-eyed flying purple cookie eating brownies!

Whiteoak was a little put off as he rode the transport into the Space Zoo Olympic Arena.
After all, he was the only champion from last year's team to make the auditions and repeat on the team. He should have been the team leader, but the Guardian Officers had been impressed by this electric newcomer, X-Static, and given him the position.
He knew his Angel master would be disappointed in him, years of training, and his ego was still getting in the way.
He tried not to show it.
Then to make matters worse, after months of improving the MAV- better shielding, better firepower, installing the replicator, better sound system with massive mp3 library, the officials had insisted that they use the Olympic committee's dumb ol' transport, and had not allowed the use of the Magical Assault Vehicle.
'D*mn' ("ooops," he thought, "I've been away from the heavenly hosts too long, I'm slipping a little.")
Norns are small beings, and he didn't fit comfortably into the seats and the safety belts, it kept rubbing his neck. He was feeling increasingly irritated.
They landed, he unbelted, he began to disembark....
when the big lunk pushed his way past him. He had to step awkwardly sideways, and the hem of his robe caught on a part of the hatch hinge, and as the armor had little give just there, a strip tore loose on the bottom.
Then he saw the outside, and the ?bio-dome? and the inhabitants standing in the distance.
They were just about his size; they looked like they could be reasoned with. IF, Gabe didn't frighten them with his muscle flexing and wing flapping.
Attempting to hurry past Gabe and get to the fore, he tried to use his hand-held device, utilizing its newly developed universal translator setting.
He tried to address the pair of inhabitants, saying "Greetings respected friends."
He might never know that they actually heard in their language:
"Meet in regards to turtles"
as just then he tripped on the torn hem and fell headlong on his face, and the jolt accidentally discharged the staff that was strapped to his back, and a powerful "repulse" beam shot out and knocked one of the inhabitants sideways with a glancing blow, and proceeded to smash into the dome's energy field creating a small explosion. _________________ Nobody knows where you are, how near or how far.

"Actually Furnace, I was in the cargo hold with you."
A large trunk that had landed roughly several metres away from the shuttle now burst open, HollowEyes finally kicking the damn lock loose enough to free himself from the leather-bound prison. "Please take more consideration for your team mates when exiting the shuttle next time Furnace." He probably should've been more upset at the dragon, but HollowEyes was more pleased to have arrived safely than anything - his special seating arrangement had been most uncomfortable, a result of the ship's seating being made for people who didn't have two solid arm blades sticking out behind them, and he was glad to be out in the open again.
~How's the Charm Tree, Aoiame?~ Ayame seemed a little concerned as she replied, as it was evident to anyone else who looked that the tree was not so healthy at the moment. ~Not too good Hollao, there wasn't enough air or light for it in that trunk - it's winter at the moment...~ This was not good news for HollowEyes, as it meant that he would've been down to about ten charms, but luckily he'd come fully prepared. ~Not to worry, I've brought my own charms too.~ Reaching back into the trunk that he'd just burst out of, HollowEyes attached his old pouches to the undersides of his arm blades. ~We'll save the Charm Tree's leaves for now, ok?~ This seemed to cheer Ayame up, as it meant that she could focus her energies on regenerating the tree. ~Alright, Hollao, I'll get the Charm Tree into a better condition then.~
He now looked around to check out the scenery quickly, though for the most part there didn't seem to be much worth noting here - grassy plains as far as the eye could see (which as it turned out wasn't very far, this was, after all, an asteroid). What was worth noting was the half built structure not too far from where they were, it could be a good place to defend from, assuming that they're opponents ever made it this far.
HollowEyes walked over towards his team, not sure that staying here for too long would be a very good idea. The small fort-like structure looked useful, but being out in the open wasn't very helpful at all, and ill-suited for his fighting style. Peering at the map that Ashen was holding, he quickly got a rough idea of what to expect from this massive arena. "I personally would rather move forward, as it doesn't really suit me to be out in the open like this."
He noticed that he sounded rather selfish in saying this, so he quickly continued. "I've got a much faster way of travelling if I need it too, so I don't mind scouting further ahead if we feel that such a thing is necessary."
((Quick question for the judges - are Dojo relics allowed in this year's Olympics?)) _________________ If I'm not here, I'm probably over at...

The others appeared shocked, Whiteoak seemed somewhat embarressed but Gabe just shook his head. First picking up Whiteoak and placing him on his feet, then wandering over to the creatures and crouched over the one that had been hurt.
It seemed slightly shocked that this massive hulking beast was leaning over but then settled as if it felt a kindred spirit. Gabe placed his massive hands on the affected area and hummed a very deep resonate tone for a short amount of time. His tatoos seemed to glow bright green and the bass in his hum could be felt through the floor. His eyes were closed and he looked straight down at the earth.
After finishing his strange ritual, his colouring returned to normal and he lifted his hands. The small creatures injury had vanished.
It seemed delighted and overly excited about these new people and grabbed Gabe by the arm dragging him towards the bio dome, beckoning the others to follow.
Normally Gabe would have gotten angry and slapped the guy but there was that soft friendliness which seemed to stop him. Instead he followed quietly on to the Bio Dome. _________________ ~Men live for a lifetime, hero's live forever~ |

Rai thought for a moment, kicking some dirt and grass blades up with her foot.
"I'm pretty fast... Probably not as fast as HollowEyes or you, but if I get the right components, I could transmute a motorized vehicle of some sort..." The alchemist placed her hands on her hips and surveyed the land. "I doubt I'll find anything here... I could always use parts of the ship, as it doesn't seem to be in flying condition anymore." _________________ Don't blink. Don't sleep. Monsters are falling from the sky. |

Furnace snorted at HollowEyes beration, small flames erupting from his nostrils as the smoke grew darker. How was he supposed to know the Parasitian had been stuffed into one of those luggage bags the soft-skins carried around with them?
But once again, he had a point, though the Dark Fire Dragon made a noise as close to a snicker as one could imagine something so big doing after hearing the Parasitians quickly catching himself saying something a little inconsiderate, and attempting to rectify it.
"I could carry all three of you on my back if I had to"
He said, deciding that taking the Parasitians advice would help ensure their survival while still wording it in his own way. Not that he'd ever admit to taking anyone's advice, his ego wouldn't allow it. _________________ Baker of the radioactive three-eyed flying purple cookie eating brownies!

X-Static, otherwise known as Nate had followed out of the space shuttle after Whiteoak. The journey here had been long, and rather odd for someone who wasn't exactly from these parts. He was glad to have gotten out of the shuttle, as, Gabe seemed to have filled it with an odd smell from all of that heavy breathing he had been doing. Nate found himself unsure as to if it was meditation, or anger. Either way, he was glad Gabe had remained seated and relaxed, if that was the term he could safely use.
As he exited the shuttles, walking down the ramp, he saw Whiteoak tear his robe, and then fall over, discharging a strange energy towards one of the strange creatures in the distance and was a little shocked, without trying to pun his name, to see the creature fall over after being hit. Fortunately, Gabe was on the case and had set himself to heal the creature.
He still didn't know what most of the people, or beings were that had kindly taken him in, and so his following statement was to be more than expected as he addresses Whiteoak, "For a Care Bear, you are not very safe" he says as he walks past Whiteoak to follow after Gabe and the strange creatures hailing him as some kind of hero.
As X-Static got closer to them, some of them looked at him oddly. Perhaps it was the colour of his dark skin, or perhaps the shock of blue hair adorning his head, in a rather odd style. His bright blue trousers and white boots wouldn't help portray a normal image.
Being this close to the sun was making him a little warm, too warm for his own comfort. Taking of his sleeveless jacket, where the arms appear to have been ripped off from the jacket, and holding it in one hand over his shoulder. His white vest covering his upper body.
Attempting to communicate with the beings, "Where are you taking us?" _________________ Books are source of knowledge, knowledge source of power, power is source of corruption, corruption is crime.Reading books will get you imprisoned!

With Gabe's help, Whiteoak stood up, with a bit of embarrassment, made worse by Nate's "care bear" comment.
~Is that what he thinks of me? He doesn't know me then. I will most certainly have to improve that impression.~ Whiteoak thought to himself.
He was pleased to see that Gabe was also a healer, but he regretted missing the chance to remedy his own mistake.
He tried once again to use the universal translator setting on his hand-held device: attempting to say "I am sorry." He would never know that he actually had said to them "I bring into existence deep sadness."
He interpreted their serious nods of agreement to mean that they had accepted his apology.
The native creatures gestured and tugged with greater urgency towards the energy dome, saying something that the translator indicated meant "Protect from flying death."
Whiteoak didn't like the sound of that!
Suddenly the native creatures’ expressions turned to steeled fear and they swung their staffs to the ready with their gazes fixed on something coming from behind and above the Olympians' craft.
Whiteoak turned to see several flying things, which looked to be a cross between condors and pterodactyls, swooping down upon them, talons outstretched, attempting to latch onto him and also to X-Static. _________________ Nobody knows where you are, how near or how far.
