Now, heres how the judging system this year will work:

Singles:

One judge per match (judges who are friendly with certain combatants will not be able to judge that match).
As and when the semi-finals come in, two judges per match, one per the challenger that entered.
When the finals are held, all judges will take part.

Currently, there are 13 people who wish to fight. It may simply be a case of pitting three people against each other in one match. I'd think it best to put the three strongest contenders in one match (both in powers and roleplay ability) But, this is a discuassion, so discuss!

Tag Team:

As there are only four (maybe five, as DP is in the judges user-group) all judges will partake in the judging of each match. Unless you have any qualms with that. Discuss!

Team Match:

With there only being two teams entering this year, it looks like there'll only be one match. As that stands, all judges will be judging the final. This one will require an inventive arena and, I'd like to see an extension of post limit/day limit on this one, as team matches take a while to get going (from experience Wink ).

Other Matters:

Quote:
1. No immortal/invinsible characters. We want to see how you react to damage.
2. Each round lasts exactly 1 week. For each round, a competetor has 4 days to post as much as possible before he/she must stop. If a competetor has posted less than 6 times he/she may continue posting for 3 more days until he/she has posted 6 times. Once you have reached 6 posts past the initial 4 day period, you must stop posting.
3. Judges have the right to change the circumstances in a round, such as forcing the actions of a competetor or changing the surroundings. This will be done primarily when a judge wants to check your reaction to certain stimuli, and is NOT a sign of a bad score.
4. Competetors may NOT post in any place but the open tournement conversation subforum or their fight post.
5. Only Judges may post in the judging section. They may not give out personal/unofficial opinions or info until AFTER the official info is used and made public.
6. You may only post in a fight topic if you are one of the 2 fighters (or your team's group) or a judge.
7. If a competetor's opponent does not respond and hinders that competetor's RPing, the competetor may inform the judge. It is then the judge's responsibility to step in until the opponent resumes fighting.
8. Anyone breaking the rules is automatically disqualified (disbarred in a judge's case)
9. Multiple characters are allowed, provided none of them break rule 1 or cause a similar effect to rule 1 (Example, having an army of characters that sacrifice themselves so a competetor is never hit).

Quote:
Rule 9 as it is written was for the individual tournement, I'm writing up a modified set of rules for the team tournement today.

You are allowed to have four character's per team, as to keep it even among all teams,

however, in the individual tournement, your allowed to have mutliple character's enter, but they must compete on their own, i.e. you can't have Whiteoak and Obed go in together for the individual tournament.(for example)

Quote:
In the Tag team, we are sticking with a two character per team limit, and only one of the characters can be in play at any given time. To "Tag in" the other player, each competitor will be given a belt, on which is attached a device with a single button. When the button is pressed, that character disappears, and the other character comes in, wearing the belt.

For each match, a new topic must be made, for every judge to have their say, and to also score the match.

Final Issue:

Now, you need to discuss possible line-ups for singles and tag teams, and also mention the arena of choice. Here's a list of suggested arenas:

Quote:
Cyberspace: What happens when you get sucked into your modem? Competitors will have to duke it out amongst Internet Pop Ups, Online Frauds, and chunks of Spam floating around. Also, viruses may appear at anytime and try to eat the competitors.

Forest: Dense trees, plenty of undergrowth and places to hide. Perfect for combat. Be wary of sleeping bears and pit traps.

Marshland: Nearly everything is under a thick layer of sludge. Players will have to wade excrutiatingly slowly towards each other, or swing across on the overhead vines.

Airship: Fighting on the deck of a giant airship, thousands of feet in the air. A fall means instant death, and the rushing wind should really test the opponents.

Cornelius Body Pit: Competitors will start standing on top of the lumpy remains of a thousand rotting Cornelius clones. Not only does the pit smell bad and is rife disease, but you never know when a zombie badger, previously feasting on the Cornelius Kibbles, may attack.

Awesomer Than Life: An artificial reality machine which grants the users their wildest dreams. Whether that be a new porsche, or a deadly ray gun to smite your enemies. Of course, simply wishing your enemies to die wouldn't work, but nothing's to stop you conjuring up the odd tank here and there.

Heaven: Battle on god's doorstep. Be careful not to fall through the clouds or annoy the local angels. Perhaps try and lull your opponent to sleep with some soothing harp melodies.

Hell: Fire, brimstone, and little men in red pyjamas sticking pitchforks up your rear.

Random Arena: The arena changes every four posts, which will mean that a person with a particular tactical advantage on a certain arena may suddenly have that flipped to a disadvantage i.e. fire arena suddenly changes to ice.

Rock Concert/Mosh Pit: Players will have to push their way through crowds of rowdy fans as they try to face off, all the time being careful not to become crushed and trampled.

Meadow: A plain, open arena with extra long grass and flowers for combatants to hide amongst and the odd tree here and there. The environement itself offers little danger, unless they have bad hayfever.

The Office: A multistorey corporation complete with desks, paperwork, copy machines and hot coffee. Players can hide in elevators, behind desks, or in the air vents. If anyone uses fire abilities, the sprinklers would be sure to go off.

Conveyor Belt: Contestants are placed on a giant conveyer belt, at the end of which is a blast furnace/crusher. They'll have to try and push their opponent towards the end, whilst avoiding the general items that have been placed on the conveyor ready for destruction.

Explosive Colleseum: A normal, high walled ring, but the walls and ceiling and covered with explosive charges. Knock your opponents into these for extra damage.

Flea Circus: Can you avoid the giant Ringmaster while fighting? Hide in the parade, jump the trapeez, and avoid getting a wire tied around you all while fighting to the death.

Battlefeild: Lined with trenches, barbed wire, Nazis, and Allied soldiers, you have more to worry about than your opponents. Bullets whiz past contestants en route to their targets, and bombs are dropped on the feild continuosly. Beware of land mines.

Lawn wars: A simulation of an average back yard many times its normal size. Contestants must fight amongst grass the size of trees while avoiding the garden fauna (including the warring ant colonies) and the dreaded Lawnmower.

Monstropolis: Plays out like a Godzilla Movie. All contenders are gigantic, on an island with a city, and there's a military perimeter set up around the island.

Ladder Match: The normal arena, except it has one ladder. The Goal: Use the Ladder to get the suspended piece of Pocky. Gravity is triple strength to prevent flying.

What about a mirror arena, where at a random point in the match, the opponents are forced into each other's bodies?

Death Factor: Whilst performing a death defying stunt, like fighting on two speeding trucks with nothing but fast air on their trailers.
Or falling through the air, having to knock your opponant into unconsciousness before pulling your parachute string. The last one to pull is the winner otherwise, no matter what damage (bar death) they take...

Shelve Wars: You have to fight amongst stationary, action figures, statues, bookends and other random items. Just, don't, look, DOWN!

Point based matches:

Gladiator: Players respawn if killed. Anyone can kill each other, but only the gladiator can score. If you kill the gladiator, you become the gladiator. Gladiator's powers are greatly increased. Play to some amount of points or until time runs out.

Battle Monkey Assistants: Players respawn if killed. Whoever is in last place gets a team of battle monkeys to control until they move out of last. Play to some amount of points or until time runs out.

Shrink: Players respawn if killed. Players shrink based on ranking. Last place is the smallest, and therefore harder to hit. Players move at the same speed regardless. Play to some amount of points or until time runs out.

The Wrestling Ring:

That's right, the squared circle! All extra powers are stripped (giving an advantage to those who are naturally strong or who have technology on their side thus giving strength). And all weapons deactivated.

You have to follow the set standard of rules, three second pin count, with both shoulders down. Submission tap out. Ring out (i.e. 10 count). And disqualification for illegal moves (and weaponry ).

With the judges discretion as to the variant of the wrestling match (such as submission only, hardcore match etc...)

Thumb Wars:

There are two variations to this. The first, is you are dressed up as a thumb, basically. And you have to fight, with just your body and legs. Pray you can stand back up if knocked over.

The second, is the traditional thumb war, with you using just your thumbs..

Its a lot to read, but if you've got your own ideas, go ahead and state them.......

Okay, well, all of that looks good to me. I guess I don't have anything to add or any problems with what you've got. Not sure about Shaon and Raven, though. They seem to have some slightly different ideas...

How are the match ups being decided? I think we should give each member, team etc. a number and the judges can pull 'em out of a hat. We can take turns Surprised

11. Mitsukai14: Nynaeve Al-Meara

Personally, though, I see 3kul and Father Mac as two of the strongest comptitors, and there should be a third put with them.

Or, alternatively, we put the three weakest competitors in terms of roleplay against one another, so that only the strongest wins, in which case Vromoth, Sfot and Coolpika should be in a match together.

Tag Team:

Personally the match-ups I'd like to see are:

Swix and Panther vs GBE

Addman and Cloud vs Father Mac and Candy

Coolpika and Mitsukai14 vs Till Doyle and Laur Doyle....

Just my opinion. What say you all to that?

Discuss!

Raven, I told you, I don't like the hat idea. I much prefer GBE's plans.

I rather like the idea of putting 3kul and Father Mac together maybe with Addman or Panther, and I'm also fond of the Vromoth, Sfot, and Coolpikaa matchup. Those would be good matches. However, in the team matchups, I don't like the Coolipkaa and Mitsukai v. Till Doyle and Laur Doyle. It just seems unbalanced. Maybe instead switch Coolpikaa and Mitsukai for GBE in the Swix, Panther match. That's just what I think. The rest looks good. I don't have many ideas beyond that.

I have a good compromise.

Separate those who we think aren't as good, and put their numbers into something then draw to see the match ups.
Then do the same with the mediums, and the best.

That way, it's organized, but random.

As far as I'm concerned (and as far as I know), they're the two groups.. Any more discussion as to whts happening with the tag matches at all, not to mention the singles....

Do you think we should put three EC members in a fight against each other?
3kul vs Addman vs Panther, maybe?

I'd like to see that, personally.

I agree for the most part, but, I don't know Mitsukai's level of roleplay skill, but, I do know that Swix is quite the prominent roleplayer. Is that a fair match-up...? Anyone in the know, please answer.. Razz

I thought that too, but decided to leave it as-is for now. Any info on his RP level would be great.

Sometimes it's good to place someone who isn't great against someone who is. The person may be slaughtered, but if they're smart they won't use it as an excuse to give up, but an excuse to get better.
I did.
Even though I still suck. Razz
I should practice.

But Laur Doyle and Till Doyle are simply fantastic role players. Is it fair to put CP and Mitsukai against them?

To be fair, those two will find it tough against anyone they face. But, if you want to change anything about these match-ups, post your match line up, and see who agrees.... Wink

Personally, I'd prefer to put them against Panther and Swix.

Hmm... I wonder how to sort this out. It won't be much a match for their opponents. CP and Mitsukai will be slaughtered.

Anyone think that's more fair? At least this way, they have a slight chance.
