PostPosted: Sun Mar 04, 2007 11:03 am    Post subject: Stranded on some kind of Island Reply with quote

((Alright, partly because I've been playing way too much Lost in Blue/Stranded Kids later, but mostly because I thought it'd make for a very interesting RP idea, I've decided to start up a new RP. It's a bit different from the norm, so I'm predicting that it'll either do really well with a few people or totally flop and make me want to forget all about it Razz. Ignore the crappy title for now, I'll change it later when I think of something good.

Anyways, the premise: somehow you've been stranded on some kind of island. How? It doesn't matter. Where is the island? I don't know, somewhere in the ocean, that's not important. The important thing is that you're stuck here.

Ok, with that rivetting bit of backstory out of the way, I can get onto the most important bits:

Conditions of RPing in this thread wrote:
1. You start with no powers, no abilities and no weapons in this thread. That's right, you start off as a pitiful mortal. Sorry, but it's the only way to make sure that everyone's on equal terms here Razz. It's preferred that you go with a new character because there's a possibility that you might die/never leave the island, and that would really screw with whatever continuity that you've got going.

2. What I say goes. Don't worry, I won't let the power go to my head, what I mean is that when something happens, it happens. If I say 'a group of crocodiles enter the river that you're swimming in' you can't turn around and say 'I'm swimming in the part that does not crocodiles in it' - it's the one river we're talking about here, just get out or get eaten.

3. Attempting to kill/attack others is allowed, but not really advisable. You're stranded together on an island, nobody likes a jerk.

4. You aren't forced to group together with others, but again, it's not really advisable for you to go solo. Strength in numbers and all that jazz.

5. No creating new/random animals or plants. I've got a whole system typed up here, all planned out and everything. Like a meticulously stacked castle of cards, it'll all come crashing down if you try to jam a jenga (or something else totally out of place) on top of it. You probably won't even find everything, so don't go worrying yourself about a lack of flora and fauna.

5. Let's all abide by the usual rules - no powerplaying, ect, ect. I don't really need to tell you that though, do I?

Now that that's over and done with, I can get to explaining the special features of this particular RP. Your character, whomever or whatever it may be, is constantly plagued with three horrible limits whilst RPing here - Health, Hunger and Thirst. Each of these limits has a maximum of 100 and work as you'd expect them to, so you are at the very peak of your game when you have 100 Health, 0 Hunger and 0 Thirst - that's full health with no hunger and no thirst. Every time you post without eating, that's + 5 to your hunger score (same thing for thirst, + 5 for every post you make without your character drinking something). This doesn't mean that I want to/will let you constantly eat and drink, the aim here is to learn how you can control your food and water supply, and I'm giving you a lot of leeway to learn how to manage that.

Here's where it gets a little tricky though. When your hunger or thirst meter gets to 50/100, that amount cranks up to + 7 every post. Don't worry, you won't die when you hit 100, but it will begin to affect your permanent health score - for every post that your Hunger or Thirst meter sits on 100, your health meter drops by 5 (10 if both you Hunger and Thirst meter are at 100). Sound complicated? Don't worry, that's why I'm here, I'll be keeping track of all this info for you all, that way you can focus on other things here. Once you get the hang of it it's not so hard.

With that out of the way, it's on to more explainations. Firstly, special statuses (not the good kind) -
  • If you are Poisoned, for every post after you lose 2 Health points until you are treated or the next day (whichever happens first).
  • If you are Badly Poisoned, for every post after you lose 4 Health points until you are treated or the next day (whichever happens first).
  • If you are Badly Wounded, for the next 3 posts after you lose 3 Health points as you bleed all over the place, making that a - 9 total (unless your gaping wounds are treated).
  • If you are Sick, for the rest of the day your character's Hunger/Thirst drop rate is the same that it would be if you were at 50% Hunger/Thirst (+ 7 for every non-eating/non-drinking post).
  • If you Smell, you will continue to stink of whatever it is that made you stink until you've washed yourself. Most animals will avoid you if you smell.
  • If you are Dead, that's it, game over. There's no coming back from the dead in this thread.

Again, this is just a heads up, I'll be remembering all of this stuff, but you'd do well to keep it all in mind whilst RPing in this thread - it could save your life Surprised. Hopefully most of us will be avoiding the 'Dead' status though...

Here is the most important thing to remember though - I am not going to be spoonfeeding you! I'll help you out a little at the start, but that's it. This RP is very much like an old text-based adventure type of affair - if you want food, you'll have to mention yourself 'looking for food', after which I'll explain what's available. You can eat it raw, if you can figure out how to start a fire you can cook it and eat it, you can use it as bait to catch animals, whatever you want, it's all entirely up to you.

That's the other thing that I want to emphasize on, this is a very individual-orientated RP - if you find an area where a group of pig-like creatures happens to enjoy grazing in the forest, you can remember how you got there and go back whenever you like. When you find something, it's only you finding it - unless you tell someone else about your pig-grazing-area, they won't know about it (unless they too somehow manage to stumble upon it). If backstabbery is your game, you can simply 'forget' to tell your fellow islander about how poisonous that delicious blowfish was and trade it to them for their lousy old pigmeat.

Anyways, that's it for the explanatory post, hope that you enjoy this somewhat different RP. I'll be explaining a few things in-character once we get started, but if any of this stuff is confusing you don't hesitate to ask me about it Smile.))

PostPosted: Sun Mar 04, 2007 11:04 am    Post subject: The Island As We Know It Reply with quote

This post will be fairly heavily editted if this thread works out the way I want it to (not a complete failure), and it's basically a summary of general knowledge on the island. This is the kind of stuff that your characters might not necessarily know just yet, but is necessary for you to know as a roleplayer.

The Island is a pretty big place, but it can be broken up into several different areas. For now, the areas that you may know are:

  • The Ocean - Big, blue, too salty for anyone's tastes and absolutely overflowing with aquatic life. It totally surrounds the island, so you'll probably grow to hate the ocean as it's sheer vastness continues to prevent you from returning to modern society.
  • The Beach - Sun, sand, surf, the beach has it all! This is probably where you'll start, washed ashore from some other place. Fortunately for you it's a rather convenient set-up, leading right up to the nearby forest. On the eastern side of the beach a river flows out to sea.
  • Forest (Light Jungle) - This is probably one of the safest places on the Island, you could live out your days here in relative comfort if you wished it to be so. The Forest is easy to navigate one's way through, and is pretty well stocked with animals and plants for you to eat. A large river passes through that leads to the beach, and not far from this is the large Cave that my character will (hopefully temporarily) be living in.
  • Jungle (Dense Jungle) - Quite a bit more dangerous that the Forest, but everybody knows that that's really code for 'more exciting'. Animals here are quite a bit more on the vicious side (ranging from venomous monkeys to man-eating reptiles) and the environment is much harder to navigate around, but there are various materials and healing plants unique to the Jungle that will make it worth the effort. Several small rivers twist their way through here, eventually joining together at the entrance to the Jungle where they form the larger river.
  • Mountain - Beyond the Jungle lies the base of a large and rather desolate looking mountain, at the base of which appears to be a series of caves. It's not advised to go as far as this, since this is where the natives' territory is believed to begins, but that's probably not going to stop some people. Wildlife here is a bit less predictable than in the jungle, but since there's not much vegetation around here you're going to want to be extra cautious around these parts. The small rivers form at the base of the Mountain, as several small waterfalls come flowing down from some high-up lake.

There are some general rules that are known to apply to all life on the island, and it'd be in your best interests to remember these:

Roots (Plants) wrote:
Roots have a regrowth rate of 2 days for a young plant or 3 days for a fully grown plant. A young root plant is only worth half as much to your Hunger as a fully grown one though, so unless you're desperate you'll probably want to wait for them to grow.

  • (ROOTPLANT 1) - large root plant, big flat green leaves, grows underground in Forest, sparse populations in Jungle
  • (ROOTPLANT 2), small multi-root plant, small thin green leaves, grows underground in Forest
  • (ROOTPLANT 3), small thin root plant, small wide brown leaves, grows underground in Mountains
  • (ROOTPLANT 4), large thin root plant, prickly tall green leaves, grows underground in Jungle

Fruits (Plants) wrote:
Fruits have a regrowth rate of 1 day for a young plant or 2 days for a fully grown plant. A young fruit plant is only worth half as much to your Hunger as a fully grown one though, so unless you're desperate you'll probably want to wait for them to grow.

  • (FRUITPLANT 1), large squishy red fruit, grows on trees by the Beaches, only found intact on trees
  • (FRUITPLANT 2), small blue berries, grows in clusters of 5, found on a few bushes in the Forest, lots in the Jungle
  • (FRUITPLANT 3), medium green & purple fruits, grow on trees in the Jungle, too tough to eat raw
  • GULT, medium orange fruit, grows on bushes in the Forest, pulp is sweet: single fruit = - 5 hunger

Others (Plants) wrote:
All other plants have a daily regrowth rate, and are always found in their fully grown forms.

  • (OTHERPLANT 1), furry brown moss, grows in caves in Mountains
  • (OTHERPLANT 2), large purple toadstool, grows in sparse populations around the Forest
  • (OTHERPLANT 3), shrivelled yellow toadstool, grows in sparse populations around the Jungle
  • (OTHERPLANT 4), tall sharp reddish grass, grows in sparse populations at the edge of the Mountains
  • (OTHERPLANT 5), large thick green leaves, grows in large populations in the Jungle
  • (OTHERPLANT 6) (Kweed), slimy thick brown leaves, found washed ashore at the Beach on a daily basis: raw = - 2 hunger, + Smell

Animals wrote:
Young, Old, Sick, Poisoned or Weak animals are 50% easier to catch and/or kill, so it's worth specifying which animal that you're going for if you get the opportunity to.

Young animals aren't fully grown though, and unless specified otherwise, this will result in 5 being taken off the total amount of Hunger points that they subtract (so if a sheep is worth 10 points, that means that the lamb is only worth 5). Old/Weak animals aren't quite what they used to be, and unless specified otherwise, this will result in 2 being taken off the total amount of Hunger points that they subtract. Eating meat from a Sick animal gives you a 1/5 chance of getting sick yourself, so if you notice that the animal is sick, it's probably better to avoid it. Eating meat from a Poisoned animal gives you a 1/2 chance of becoming poisoned yourself, and so eating it is a pretty risky thing to do.

When eating normal cooked meat, you generally have a 1/20 chance of the meat making you Sick - it probably won't happen, but if it does don't feel too shocked. The only alternative to that is if you choose not to cook it and eat it raw, but then you're looking at a 1/10 chance of getting sick.

Should enough people be living on the island to make a significant impact, populations of certain species may vary if overhunting occurs. Should people ignore the warning signs, it's quite possible that the entire species may become extinct.

Animals can be domesticated, but this depends on several factors:
1. Intelligence - if an animal is stupid, it's most likely to think with it's stomach and should be fairly easy to catch, but pretty much useless unless you're planning on fattening it up. On the flip side, an animal that is highly intelligent won't be falling for any simple traps, and will prove much more difficult to catch, but is quite a bit more capable.
2. Danger - it doesn't take a genius to figure out that keeping an overly aggressive or venomous animal close by is a bad idea. Whilst some of the more dangerous animals are able to be brought home, it's really not advised.
3. Diet - if you can't bring them the food that they need, they'll run away, pure and simple. The smarter they are, the longer they'll stick with you for, but in the end even the smartest animals will abandon a neglectful master.
4. Habits - an animal that herds or swarms is probably not going to just up and leave it's group just for you, and in the same way a solitary animal is not going to like having too much company. As with most things, the key is establishing a balance.
5. Exceptions - some animals have unique traits that make caring for them particularily difficult or problematic. Whilst you don't really know what these are to begin with, experimentation will help you sort the helpful from the useless, and you can also just eat your pet if it doesn't work out.

  • (SLUG 1), large yellow/green slug, low intelligence, found in sparse populations in the Caves, ground & cave dwelling, slow, weak, glowing

In addition to the plants and animals that you can eat, it's important to note other things too. Various materials found on the Island can be combined to make tools or weapons, the following is only a short example of some of the base materials, and doesn't really get you into the specific stuff, but it's worth having a look at:
  • Sticks: found by trees, pulled off trees
  • Bark: found by trees, pulled off trees
  • Stones: found on the ground, most plentiful in the Mountains
  • Big Branch: found by some trees in the Jungle, too tough to pull off
  • Long Branch: found by some trees in the Jungle, natural breakage is too short, need to be pulled off
  • Vines: found by some trees in the Jungle, pulled off trees
  • Hollow Reeds: found near the Large River in the Forest
  • Bait: Some animals can be used as bait as well as food
  • Feather: found on some birds
  • Lard: found on some animals
That's all for now, though as I said earlier, more will be added to this post as it's established.

3KUL - Wiljod
Loction = The Forest
Health = 80%
Hunger = 10%
Thirst = 20%

Wiljod emerged from the wreckage of his treehouse, feeling more than just a little bit dazed. Last night's storm had been far worse than he could've predicted, and from the looks of his surroundings, his treehouse wasn't the only thing that the storm had been merciless with. A small clump of trees were smashed, amongst which lay a nest full of broken eggs. It was a pity that they were all broken Wiljod thought as he rummaged through the wreckage, as eggs were one of his favourite things to eat.

Wiljod was about the size of a grown man, and had all the strength of one, though his appearance was that of an oversized ermine. His fur was usually a plain dark brown colour, but at the moment there were several darker stains splotched across his coat - dried blood from scratches and scrapes all over his body. Upon noticing these disgusting stains, Wiljod decided to abandon his scavenging and go to wash himself off.

At the river, the large weasel was surprised to see that there wasn't so much damage here, as if something had prevented the wind from blowing as harshly. He felt like an idiot for worrying about the Cave flooding, as he could've spent a much safer and drier night in there than in his flimsy little treehouse that no longer existed. The river always seemed much deeper from the edge, but even now whilst he was swimming in it he could touch the bottom without being completely submerged. Taking several deep gulgps of the cool river water to quench his thirst after he finished washing himself off, Wiljod climbed back out of the river, shaking himself dry.

As he wandered back towards his old Cave, the big stoat managed to spot a broken Gult bush lying nearby, the one he'd planted not so long ago. It was a pity that it'd been broken by the storm, as he'd hoped to be able to grow a bigger bush closer to his home here. "No point in crying over spilt milk..." He said to himself as he quickly gathered up the somewhat battered fruits that remained and began to peel them. He'd learnt from experience that the skin was extremely bitter, but the delicious pulpy insides were super sweet. Scarfing down the first two, he paused for a moment before deciding to keep the last one for later. For now he'd explore the Forest and see what kind of damage had been done.

After a few hours of checking things out, Wiljod wasn't sure whether he should've been relieved or outraged - for the most part, the Forest appeared to be largely undamaged by the storm, which meant that it was his own shoddy building skills that were to blame for his treehouse collapsing on top of him. "I guess I'll just have to stick to the Cave then, no way am I going to risk having half a tree fall on my head again." He said aloud to himself, making his way towards the nearby Beach. If there was one thing that he knew would cheer himself up, it'd be treasure-hunting on the beach - storms always washed something interesting or unusual ashore, and he almost couldn't wait to see what this one had brought.

3KUL - Wiljod
Loction = The Beach
Health = 80%
Hunger = 0%
Thirst = 0%

((There you go, a simple little post that starts me off. Don't feel restricted to making your character human or anything like that (I certainly wasn't Wink).

Wiljod has started with a bit less health than usual, as well as a bit of hunger and thirst, and this is mainly because he had to ride out the storm with the remains of his poorly built treehouse crushing him. The Gults* that he ate were worth 5% Hunger each, so that takes care of the 10% he had at the start of my post, and after drinking some of the river water his Thirst drops back down to 0%. The only thing that hasn't changed is his overall Health, because I haven't done anything to change that in my post.

*Note - pretty much everything here has it's own name, so don't expect to see recognisable plants and animals Wink. I'm trying to make this tricky Razz.

Good luck to anyone who's interested in RPing here, and as I said earlier, I'm more than happy to help if you have any questions. Smile))

Coolpikaaa - Pika-bot
Location =???
Health = 100%
Hunger = 0%
Thirst = 0%

Pika-bot was THE first to be installed with the organo chip. This high tech, cutting edge, micro machine reformed any robot it was implanted into, giving them emotions, senses, hunger, thirst, boredom...even death if they were damaged enough. Pika-bot didn't know why a robot would want those things, but many groups recommended it so he went along to agob labs to be implanted.

The lab was beside the sea, and looked very clean from the outside. Sparkling windows and vibrant colors welcome the sitekick in and kept him in until he was staring down at the face of a man, testing pika-bots new senses.

Smells, sounds even the salty taste of the sea floated up to the bot and made him glad he went with the upgrade. Suddenly the sound of many people shouting made pika-bot curious and caused him to float over to the window, which at that exact moment, exploded with the force of a rioters bomb.

The blast knocked out pika-bots system and blew the sitekick down into the sea.
---Days later---
Coolpikaaa - Pika-bot
Location = Beach
Health = 65%
Hunger = 30%
Thirst = 40%

Pika-bot felt the prickle of sand on his green shell. He tried to move his right arm but realized his sword was gone. The super sword chip, must have been damaged by the bomb. He also could feel the cold steel of his ninja chip swords,but they had become jammed and unusable.

"Ok...no more upgrades..."

Shaon - Sarin
Location = Beach
Health = 70%
Hunger = 20%
Thirst = 40%

Ugh, what happened?

Faceplanted in the sand and barely breathing, it awoke.

It shook its head, leaning up shakily.

Almost immediately, it vomited seawater.

Where am I?

The saltiness of the ocean, which it apparently had the excellent idea of drinking, made its throat burn.

Looking around, it scratched its forehead.

Its hands returned with dried blood.

Surprised, it scrambled over to look for the nearest place it could look at itself.

It saw a tide pool.

It, now somewhat more obviously a he, was a lizard.

A skink, he recalled.

Whatever that was.

That didn't matter, however.

What mattered was that his forehead was caked with dry blood.

Figures.

Shaon - Sarin
Location = Beach
Health = 70%
Hunger = 25%
Thirst = 45%

((Sarin has gained amnesia from hitting a rock on the way here. Doesn't remember his name or anything. That's why his health is pretty damn low.

Thirst is high due to seawater inhalation.))

GBE: Gregory
Location: The Mountain
Health = 100%
Hunger = 50%
Thirst = 100

Gregory had spent a long time on this island. How long, he wasn't sure anymore. He still didn't know many of the islands secrets, but he did have his favourite hunting grounds, and knew where to find some excellentfruit. But, now, he'd found himself struggling to even get to some of these places. He just couldn't out-run most of the predators anymore, and he was having to hunt closer and loser to where he lived, which, he knew was dangerous, as animals would be attracted to the smells of his cooking, and ofthe carcasses.

Right now thouh, he was half way up a tree, out of breath, with another good eight metres to go. In front of him was a creature of some kind, attempting to strike at him. Unfastening his modified staff, that he'd built in his time on the island, it had a dagger like protrusion, made from rock that he'd broken down, and using dried plants, he'd tied it to his staff. The plants were strengthened with animal hair. Using what little energy he has, he strikes at the offending creature...

To Diary (which was somehow in Mr.Smith’s pocket) :
I found myself on a beautiful but alerting beach today and to my surprises I was a little famished and very thirsty. But I did not worry about these things for I was sure this was just one of the odd dreams that I have ever now and then, which in my case usually consists of falling into volcanoes, walking in the clouds and being attacked my monster sharks. But this being different pleased me, apart from the fact that I was getting hungrier every moment at an alarming rate, and if I was sure I would be leaving this place soon I would have not gone into the forest to look for water and food but quite the opposite, which would mean lying on the beach and slacking out.

((Oooh, I remember that game. Linky for the uninformed: http://www.eagb.net/gameboy/gr67.htm))

Netdroid9 - Newt
Location = Under a palm tree in the Forest, looking out at the Beach (?)
Health = 90%
Hunger = 10%
Thirst = 25%

Newt was a big, muscly man. Surprisingly muscly in fact. He was the sort of man you'd find at a circus lifting unrealistically heavy wieghts or juggling anvils or something of that sort. Unfortunately, due to the simple fact he was stuck on an island a million miles from civilization, that was not the case.

Mmrflg.

Newt rolled over and slowly sat up.

Thirsty.

Slowly, he stood up and wandered across the beach to the ocean. He cupped his hands and splashed some water onto his face, then attempted to drink some.

Yuck! Bad water!

He promptly spat out the sea water and wandered back onto the beach, before decidedly collapsing and continuing his nap.

Netdroid9 - Newt
Location = Under a palm tree in the Forest, looking out at the Beach (?)
Health = 90%
Hunger = 15%
Thirst = 35% (Let's say... 10 percent because of the salty water?)

((Wow, it's great to see so much interest in this thread already, and some clever people have pointed out some things that I've forgotten to mention.

Firstly, as Net and Shaon pointed out, salt water is bad for you, so if you drink it I'll go with Net's suggestion and say that it's + 10 to your Thirst.

GBE, you've thrown yourself into this RP in a rather interesting way, I hadn't expected people to already be here with me Razz. It's no problem though, I can work with what you're doing without having to change anything, so keep going with what you're doing. Just be wary of the Natives Surprised...

A few people have made some minor mistakes with their scores:
* Vromoth, your meters should be Hunger at 50 (+ 5 for a post without eating) and Thirst at 72 (+ 7 for a post without drinking when Thirst is above 50).
* GBE, Hunger and Thirst start at zero and increase (as you become hungrier and thirstier), so if your Hunger is starting at 50 it would now be at 55, and if your Thirst is starting on 0 (the equivalent of what you were aiming for, I assume), then it would now be 5.

One question for Shaon as well - are you an actual lizard, or some kind of anthro-lizard?

No problems with anything else, so I'll get on to posting Smile.))

3kul - Wiljod
Loction = The Beach
Health = 80%
Hunger = 0%
Thirst = 0%

Wiljod was very surprised with what he saw at the Beach, the storm had washed up more than slimy Kweed (a kind of edible seaweed) and driftwood. Firstly, what appeared to be some sort of shiny little animal was floating about, it was unlike anything he'd ever seen on this part of the Island, and he wondered if it was dangerous.

It seemed to be preoccupied with staring at something - a wounded lizard, stumbling around a rock pool nearby. The lizard didn't seem like anything he'd seen from around here either, and given it's strange colours Wiljod believed that it could well be poisonous.

Whilst wondering how to treat these strange creatures, a flicker of movement caught his eye - someone (Mr. Smith) had entered the Forest not too far off to his left, and he must've just missed them. He'd try to find them later. He checked to his right and stifled a scream when he noticed a beheamoth of an ape-creature (Newt), thanking his lucky stars that it was asleep. This beast looked strong, stronger than anything he'd ever seen in the Forest - had it been blown in from somewhere else on the Island? No matter, thought Wiljod, as long as it kept away from him he didn't care.

He returned his focus to the small shiny creature that was too busy focusing on the lizard to notice him. Holding a decent sized piece of driftwood in one hand behind his back, Wiljod held out the Gult fruit in the other, cautiously approaching the creature. He wasn't sure what it would do, but he was ready to smash it if it proved to be aggressive.

"Here, shiny critter critter critter, do you want some food?"

Wiljod spoke softly, as whilst he couldn't see the large man anymore (as he'd wandered further down the beach to approach the Pika-bot), he certainly didn't want to wake it if he could avoid doing so.

---------------------------------------------

The massive Hormon bird shrieked as it clawed at Gregory once more, it's ferocious talons extended. Gregory had made the mistake of climbing the tree that it had claimed as it's home, and the Hormon, a fiercely territorial bird, was determined to drive away this invader.

He could hardly be blamed for his mistake though. This Hormon appeared to be injured, and had been forced to nest much lower down on the Mountain than most Hormons usually did - one would not usually expect to see this beautiful beast roosting in a tree like some common Etyr. The fact that it was injured should have made it easier for Gregory to kill, but despite the fact that it's wing was clearly broken in several places it still had a lot of fight left in it.

The Hormon attempts to dodge Gregory's spear as he thrusts the weapon towards the bright red and gold bird, but it is not quite fast enough - the bird receives a large gash across it's side, ripping through it's good wing. Stumbling backwards in an effort to back down, the proud beast loses it's footing and falls out of the tree. The Hormon is not a tree-dwelling bird, and it plummets to the ground with all the grace of a falling stone, crashing against several branches on it's way down.

It hits the ground, well and truly dead. The Hormon's deep red blood stains it's plumage and runs out into the ground, and it won't be long before something else smells this. If Gregory wishes to, he can scale back down the tree to collect the bird's meat and precious talons (sharp extended pieces of bone that are very useful to any tool-maker), but if he does this he'll risk running into predators attracted by the smell of blood. Alternatively, he can leave his kill for the predators, and continue up the tree undisturbed.

((As a side-note GBE, there aren't many tree dwelling creatures around the Mountain because there aren't many trees there (it's a mostly rocky place), so just to keep things as they are for now I'm going to say that you're a bit beyond the border of the Jungle.))

TROT84 - Repcoil
Location = The Beach
Health = 60% Badly Wounded
Hunger = 20%
Thirst = 60%

*The waves of the ocean gently push a large human like reptile in to a bunch of Kweed. Bruises scatter his scaly body. Several sharp white teeth stuck in his right leg, probably from a ferocious species of shark maybe. Blood leaked out of the wound, it was still fresh. Images flash in the reptilian humanoid's head. None of the most pleasing.*

"Repcoil, this beast is too strong! Nothing is working!"

*Max tries to stop the unknown monster, yet this creature of the deep kept on dodging the lunges a sank it's teeth in Repcoil's leg. The monster tries to pull him under, Repcoil shuts his eyes with and tries to pull himself out of the water. The waves grew more chaotic by the second, his fingers start slipping. Then something strikes Repcoil's head with so much force, it sent him down in ocean depths and the monster flies over the raft. Eventually landing far away from Max and Repcoil.*

*His eyes rise up, with him staring at chucks of a type of seaweed. Repcoil tries to take nap to recuperate his energy. Despite laying on the cold, moist Kweed, the sunlight starts to heat up his freezing body.*

Location = The Beach
Health = 57% Badly Wounded
Hunger = 25%

Repcoil will no doubt soon notice the rather pungent smell of the Kweed as the slimy coating of the seaweed rubs off on him, or perhaps whoever finds him will be the one to tell him - he now has the Smell status, a harmless yet bothersome condition that will remain until he washes himself off.

The Smell status is currently the only harmless status, in that it doesn't actually decrease any of your meters, but it does have some other effects. Animals can now smell you from a mile away, which will cause the majority of them to avoid you, though there are a few creatures that are attracted by the Smell status and will hunt you down mercilessly for it. It's probably best to wash it off as soon as you can, as until you do you're pretty limited in your choices for food.

Repcoil is positioned a little way down the beach, not too far from the rest of the new arrivals, but out of sight in the pile of Kweed that he's lying in. If he can stand the pain of doing so, Repcoil can remove the monster's teeth from the wounds in his legs for later use - he'll find that most are broken at strange angles and relatively useless, but at least half of the teeth will be intact (you said several, so you'll wind up with 3 or 4 that will be good to use for tools, weapons, etc). However, if he rips them out of his wounds in his current state, he'll lose an extra 3 Health from the pain and blood loss on top of what he's already losing.

((This is the pretty much extent that I'll force things upon you, and it's something that'll probably happen often if people aren't careful/observant. In this case it's pretty harmless, but since Trot placed his character in a pile of Kweed the seaweed slime has rubbed off on him. If he'd just washed ashore though, I wouldn't have mentioned this little trick, so he'll soon know better Razz. Whether he wants to tell anyone or not (or in this case, whether they smell him or not Razz) is entirely up to him - he can keep this knowledge secret or warn others.

Not all of these secret traps are going to be harmless though. To go with a much more dangerous example, you could post about how you enjoy eating a delicious fish, then I reply explaining that you've just eaten a poisonous fish. Or perhaps you move to kill a small defenseless animal sitting around by itself, then I reply about the gargantuan parent emerging from the bushes right next to you.

The key to surviving here is by being careful, and observing as much of what happens around you as possible. Remember, if you look for something, I can't lie or hide it from you, so you may as well make the most of it Wink.))

The waves licked at an unconcious Canii. The Canii, Sanagi, stirred as she regained conciousness. She pulled her self up,
~Huh? What am I doing here? Where is here?~ as she looked around, Sanagi noticed there was a horrible smell in the air. The smell in question appeared to be coming from a pile of what seemed to be seaweed. Warily, Sanagi approached it.

Leporidae - Kasrill S. Quinn

Ears flickerd as the sounds of the sea sweep into her eardrums. Opening her green eyes, the light-blue anthromorphic porcupine awakes. She is adorned with deep-blue stripes and brown quills running down from the top of her head to her neck. Kasrill looks all over the place for her bow and poisons (For making posinus arrows) but none were to be found. Hoping that she can at least use her quills, she finds that a bunch of Kweed matted in her hair, rendering the quills unsusable until she can get rid of the Kweed.

A nervous laugh quiverd from her lips, before hanging her head down at the sand with a feeling of hopelessness. Getting a idea, she tried to pull out the Kweed. Although she got a tiny chunk out, one of her quills got damaged. She took a wiff of the Kweed and decided that she can try taking a bite. Smiling as she eaten the bit of Kweed, she gets up and searches for a water source in the forest.
