Sorry to have been a little inactive here for a while, uni's just started up again so I'm a little busy with other things (argh, Japanese looks like it's going to be hard this semester...), but I'll try and make an effort to get something done in the next day or so.

On a bit of an off-topic note, I find that I sometimes prefer the look of digimon over how some of the pokemon look (more the older ones than the newer ones though). Not entirely sure why, I just think that pokemon is can get really childish (or lazy? Razz

) with some of their designs whereas digimon seems to do the opposite with their designs (if it doesn't have a gun strapped to it somewhere, odds are it evolves into something that does

).

True, they do seem a little less natural and probably come across with more emphasis on being monsters than anything, and lately it seems to be more about strapping as much metal and guns as they can to them, but they do manage to come up with some very cool looking creatures - this one and this one are a couple of my favourites.

I'd agree with 3Kul - Digimon often sport better designs than the Pokemon they imitate. *snuggles Patamon* Particularly the Rookie levels. Can't say I'm crazy about the gun/metal toting Mega/Ultimates.

For the record, Caylil's basic shape was inspired by "In Training" Digimon - the ones that are basically just a round bouncy blob with maybe ears, and big eyes. (Though I prefer Caylil with its wings and tail.)

There's nothing wrong with creating characters along the same lines as existing ones (dragons, or plant monsters, for example, or critters-based-on-animals) but I think the drawing your friend made is just a *bit* too close to Patamon for comfort. It's easily identifiable as a Digimon.

Whew! I've finished a couple sketches... Caylil (that one took forever... Laughing

), Sentigor and Sentilisk, Tuskadont, and a couple others. I just want to run them by you guys (Embri, Addman, Warnz) to see if there's any changes you want made before I ink them and start colouring them in. And all suggestioins are welcome. I'm afraid my scanner is down.... so I'll probably won't have them posted up til Thursday or later. Just a heads up though. Very Happy

Edit: Finally have them up. Lemme know what you think. I'll start inking them next week so let me know what you want changed before then... or forever hold your peace. Wink

They're a bit hard to see though... sorry. Confused

woah, you are good at sketching...

The only thing I would change on the tuskadont is the narrowness of the head, maybe make the snout a little plumper.

I feel a bit guilty about critiquing Mitsukai's work (last night in JRChat) so I decided to try my own hand at Caylil...

and found out it's a real pain to draw. Laughing

*five attempts later, with much crumpled paper*

I finally got something that decently resembles my sprite. Sorry for making such a seemingly simple and yet hard to draw critter. Razz

Anyways, if you want to use this, you most certainly may. I haven't cleaned up the edges nearly as well as I should have, though if you slap it on a white background it looks fine.

Arrow finished, now moving on to Octot

Female Arrow has green arrows, male arrow has blue arrows

I also made a young sprite, but there are no gender differences for it

EDIT: Octot finished. Males= green spots, Females= purple spots
I made a camoflaged version, I don't know what it would be used for, though.
I also made a special one for Coolpikaaa (It is yellow and breathes FIRE!!!!!). I'll make a special imagine for Mitsukai14 next....

I knew about pikaaa and mits challange for there game( im a member) but i never knew that there was such a large amount of ideas flying around. I must agree, caylil look really cute! Red Razzberry

If styrex didn't have such baby eyes it would look tougher. Just a suggestion
