Awww... they're so cute! *cuddles Caylil* I'm all for having a female and male version of the sprites... but as Coolpikaaa said, it's up to you guys since it would be more work. And yes Warnz, help would be very much appreciated. I'm sure that Coolpikaaa agrees with me.
Edit: Actually, I've talked about this with Coolpikaaa a bit and just wanted to share the idea (yes... idea... nothing definite yet  ) with you guys. If you feel (and have the time) to make both genders of a sprite then that's great. If not then we leave the sprite as "unisex".  And because we have some sprites with both genders, we could have a "breeding" in order to get the imagine for certain imagines rather than just a pre-evolve form. So, only as an example, if you caught a "fire element" and cross-breed it with a lizard let's say.. you would get a fire lizard. The breeding combinations would be unknown so it would be up to the member to find them. Of course, it would be a while before we could set this up... but just an idea.

If you could do that Embri I'd really appreciate it. I have no problems getting the right shapes down with some of these sprites, it's just colouring them that I'm bad at - the Sentigor actually has about 5 colours I think, though it's probably either my poor choice of colour variety or simply a lack of skill in shading (quite possibly both ) that has made it look quite flat :/.
I've been a little busy as of late, but I'm still going with the Meridian (water serpent/dragon Imagine). I seem to have a lot of difficulty with complex dragon sprites, so I'm not sure that it's going to turn out very good  . But I'll at least have a go and finish it off, that way I can then maybe move on to something easier (like Arrow ).

Not really, it'll just mean making slight changes to the original sprite. I don't think it'd be too difficult to get done, it'll just take a little more time.

As 3Kul pointed out, it's not actually much extra work - Caylil (female, the first) took about 15-20 minutes (without counting the time I was screenshoting and writing the tutorial) and Caylil (male, based on the first sprite) only took about 3-5 minutes.
If anyone doesn't want to do the other half (male/female) of a sprite, I certainly don't mind. I think it would look very nice though. I was really looking forward to the gender sprite split in pokemon D/P, but was disappointed to see that few pokemon have any variation. Of those, only a very, very few are easily recognizable on sight because the differences are *so* small.
A simple colour shift on a body part works well, if you don't feel up to actually modifying the sprite directly.
@ 3kul - I'll do my best to illustrate shading again with one of your most excellent outlines. (full marks in the line art department. ) In fact, I'll see about making up a few exercises that might help... hm....

Hm, I was looking at that as well, but I actually thought that there were a fair few noticable changes. I remember reading somewhere about people complaining this, so every time I've caught a glimpse at a Pokemon D/P sprite set I've taken note of the differences (quoted because it'd take up way too much space otherwise)

I've probably missed some, there's a much more complete version of sprites to compare here (male sprites) and here (female sprites) if you want to try and find them. As you said Embri, some are not very noticable, or barely worth noticing *stares at Politoed*. But there are also quite a few noticable ones, like Milotic, Heracross, Meganium, etc. Yeah, they probably could've taken it further, but I don't think I'd like it very much if every pokemon looked totally different just because of their gender.

Hehe, well hopefully it's fun homework... and without those evil deadlines.
Couldn't think of any better way to teach it than to have someone try to work though a few exercises - I did keep the practice sprites quite small so that they wouldn't be too arduous. I can't really remember how I learned to shade myself - a combination of practice and lots of art classes (for the theory side) seems likely.
