Yep, since I'm on a roll with doing my job as an Archive mod I figured that I'd better also get to doing my job as a Mantis Sensei.

It's time for a recruitment drive people, I want more members to be bearing Mantis belts and for all you know you could very well be one of them! The benefits? Kickass belts like the one displayed just under my name and the respect of your fellow RPers, what more could one ask for (keeping in mind that you're only allowed to ask for things that I can give Razz

Aspiring Brown Belt Mantises, I'll give you the opportunity to help SFOT out before stepping in myself, as by helping any member reach Green Belt status you would also be fulfilling one of the Brown Belt requirements (even if you're only a Green Belt atm it's the kind of thing that you can remind me of later when you're going for your Brown Belt).

To address the whole 'duel' concept, this does NOT only refer to the Challenge Arena, but also to regular RP combat - in other words, if you've ever come up against a Mantis belt bearer in an RP you may just meet this requirement. Just let me know which thread (and which page if it's a long one) and I'll go have a look.

SFOT, if you could nominate your one medal and major RP campaign for me I'd be happy to go and see if you've met those requirements whilst you wait.

I do believe Little Sister is a mantis. Would the brief attack in the frozen north count, or should I battle you/another mantis officially? I've already got the 1 rp medal, so I'll apply for a green belt and duel SFOT if it's possible!

Sorry Kat, but the encounter in the Frozen North was a bit too brief to be counted for a Green Belt, and it's not like LS was specifically attacking you either Razz

. You can either officially challenge me or another Mantis Belt Bearer (again, I'll leave it up to any green belts to see if they want to help you first though) or just find us in some RP and fight us there Razz

Just so that everyone knows who they can chase up, current Mantis members are as follows:
* TheDarkPsycho - Green Belt
* Shine - Green Belt
* Leporidae - Green Belt
* Swix - Green Belt
* Panther385 - Green Belt
* Goron40 - Blue Belt
* 3kul - Black Belt (Sensei)

Just so that everyone knows, the fight between you and the Mantis doesn't have to be very long, which is why it doesn't necessarily have to be a challenge. All I need to see are four things:

1. You attacking
2. You defending (more how you take an attack though)
3. You weilding your weapon OR a weapon in a your own unique style
4. You not powerplaying

Good spelling and decent grammar is always a plus, but it's not necessarily vital (I do have to be able to read what you're typing though Razz

). All of these must be against a Mantis though, because (a) it keeps current Mantises on their toes and helps us to better ourselves and (b) it's much easier for you to display your combat abilities to me if you're up against another Mantis, because we're more or less on equal terms.

Would the entirety of Corporate Development 2 be good enough? The girl featured there-in relied on technology for the most part, and she is fairly useless when fighting alone (The mind-scape thing with GBE isn't likly to happen again any time soon, considering Drone is basically the only one capable of generating one).

As for you Net, hm... Well, the Corp. Dev. 2 thread doesn't have a medal for it (though imo it definately qualifies as a major RP thread, and your medal for Corp. Dev. 1 gets you around that requirement anyway).

The female character that you're talking about though, she doesn't seem very much like a Mantis to me. Mantises are active fighters, pitting themselves and their own weapons against opponents, but from what I can remember that girl had countless amounts of minions doing her bidding. I could be wrong in saying so as it's been a while since I last read about her though, so don't hesitate to correct me if I'm wrong.

Well, regardless of that, you've also got the duel to sort out. If I'm wrong about the girl and you intend to go with her for this, she's going to need to fight with a current Mantis so that you can show me her weapons and how she fights and such.

unfortunately, you have to go through to generic belts before you can join a clan...talk to Danikat about upgrading from one belt to another until you have had red for four weeks, then you talk to the sensei whose style matches your own the closest...

see, i do have many unique weapons, (Raige, Feest, Eisse, Fyre, Kov'ag)
but since my goal in blackstar is to NOT get a medal, but still be famous, i can't really do the green belt requirments. but if i were to get a belt style, it would be mantis.

VW, don't feel that you have to be a Mantis just because I'm on a recruitment drive. Though it'd be awesome if you joined us, it's more important to join the style that reflects your own. If you manage to meet all of the requirements and still want to join us though, then I'd happily give you your own shiny green Mantis belt Smile

You're not far off though Micka - you've got two medals for participating in a major RP, that's one out of three requirements taken care of.

I am still actively recruiting Mantises (even though I haven't posted here for a little while) - if you want a green belt but can't figure out how to meet a particular requirement, just post here and I'll see what I can do.
