Greetings!
This is my first day at Blackstar and I thought I would say Hello to everyone! I have been RPing for about 8 years now, mostly on MSN and Runboard, but I was just introduced to this board so hopefully I'll learn my way around here shortly.. I am Goron, Embri's replacement. I help TheDarkPsycho run this place (Don't worry, he's not as evil as it sounds). I am the leader of one of the two major Role Play groups on this forum, The Guardians.
If you're looking for somewhere to start, the Hall of Records is where you should post your character profile. After that, most newcomers head for the training dojo to learn basic skills, but if you've been role playing for eight years, I highly doubt that you need it.
In that case you may wish to check out The Wilds, where most of the role playing takes place.
Other than that, the rest of the boards are highly specialized. You should be able to get a good idea of what they're for by their descriptions.
Now, we have a complex system of belts here, explained in detail on the wiki. Beyond the belts there are several role playing groups you may feel compelled to join. Your characters may each be in different groups, you are bound by none.
The Evil Council - The oldest group of Role Players in the Dojo, and undoubtedly one of the more skilled. Don't let their name deceive you, these guys are more pranksters than evil doers. Yes, I said it. Sue me, EC. Joinable by invitation only.
The Guardians - Younger than the Evil Council, but just as talented, having defeated the council in their first encounter.  They are dedicated to preserving the balance of Role Playing. Joinable by application or invitation.

There are three lesser groups on the forums, you may wish to look into them as well.
The Corporation - The Antagonists of the Dojo, made up of master Role Players that have concealed their identities through new screen names that are known only as the characters. Their goal is to develop the land of Blackstar for profit. Application only. I've yet to see them invite...
The Felbeasts - Truthfully, I don't know much about these guys. They seem evil enough, and are throughly dedicated to the complete distruction of every other group. Invite/Application/Bribe. Yes they take bribes.
The Flock - I have not seen this group particularly active recently, but they take a non-confrontational approach to role playing, preferring to avoid violence, rather than cause it. Application.
Of course you are perfectly welcome to stay independent and role play as an individual. Whatever path you choose, you're bound to enjoy your stay.

Welcome Nicholette, I hope your stay is filled with ominous events and maniacal laughter. Also if you want to leave this place just whack GBE on the head three times and say 'there's no place like home'. Apart from him obtaining a severe concussion there's not really any downside unless he chases you around with dust. *Shudders* Oh the horrors dust can do!

Hehe I just happen to do both chat and message board! *Ish talented like that..* Yeah..um...right. So, thanks everybody for welcoming me! So far everything looks great and I've already got a thread going with GBE but I intend to post tons more ASAP... hehe.. Guten Tag! Willkommen! Wie gehst? Sehr gut, hoffentlich.
German aside, I'm glad you find us amusing...sometimes we just scare newcomers off before they make a second post.
Formal introductions are not neccessary, but it's my style;
I am EnDSchultz, (Not that you couldn't figure that out for yourself) former Headmaster and now Elder of the Evil Council. In other words, I am the father (albeit a young one) of the greatest roleplaying organization to grace (curse?) these forums, AND all the message boards that led up to it's creation.
It is true, we are more 'pranksters' than truly Evil, but being 'evil' is just not cool, and would most likely result in an untimely demise for all of us.
In any case, enjoy your stay, and we look foreward to roleplaying with you soon! As a final note, I strongly reccommend you post a Character Profile in the Hall of Records as soon as is convenient, so we can get an idea of who, or what, you will be roleplaying as. |
