Josh vs Guthux

I would like to fight anyone, preferably one more skilled than I, in order to test out my newest creation, Guthux.

Where's a knight in shining armor when you need one?

The enormous beast emitted a ferocious roar as the arena guard removed his muzzle. A quick burst of fire caused them to jump back in surprise, but they regained their composure and lead the dragon into the center of the arena by the chains that bound it.

Anger flickered in Guthux's eye. How shameful it was to be chained in such a manner. He longed to break free and devour these men for tormenting him so. Still, he stayed his claw as they freed him from his bonds. They retreated from his piercing gaze through the arena exit.

Guthux uttered a low growl, which rumbled through the entire arena. Apparently, he was here to fight someone, but as to who would stand and fight against a dragon was beyond even him. He snorted a puff of smoke and looked onward to the far side of the arena where his opponent was scheduled to emerge from.

Josh was led to the arena, absolutely unsure as to where he was going. Someone had asked him if he would like to get some training and earn some money on the side. He hadn't been sure as to what exactly was going on. Finally inside of the arena, he gulped as he looked at the giant fire breathing dragon. Emphasis on the last four words of the previous sentance.

Turning around, he bumped into the now closed door. That wasn't good. Turning back around, he looked at the giant dragon. Well, he wasn't who is he is for no apparant reason. Waving up at the dragon, "Hi..." Dressed in brown leather trousers and wearing a black T-shirt with a few strange scales on his shoulders, almost like shoulder pads, he doesn't exactly look like he could fight off a large dragon.....

Let's give ourselves a week time, or until one of us is unable to fight. Either way, let it be judged. The arena is a large circular one scattered with rocks.))

Guthux fixed his eyes on the tiny being. A low rumble started in his stomach, then quickly raised itself in both position and volume up to his throat, where it was emitted as a deafening roar. A small jet of fire escaped from his nostrils.

Slowly Guthux strode forward, the ground shaking slightly with each step of his four powerful limbs. His head snaked directly up to Josh, stopping no more than three feet away.

Two dark swirling portals that where Guthux's eyes glared at Josh. Sensing the obvious, and well-deserved, fear in the creature. Guthux emitted another sound-splitting tone, showing off all of his many teeth.

Josh had just stood there staring at the dragon as it moved in close and closer, until it' head was less than three feet from his own. As it roared right in his face he had closed his eyes and turned his head away, not out of fear, but due to the fact that the dragons dental hygiene appeared to be almost non-existant. Turning back to face the dragon, the fifteen year old 5' 4" boy quite innocently asks "Who is your rider?"

As he asked the question, a tattoo of a dragon appeared on one side of his face, shimmering very slightly. Realising this, as it began to tingle throughout the skin on that side of his face, he rubs it gently, trying to massage the feeling away. His eyes never leave the dragons eyes however, he's not an apparent warrior, but he's not stupid either...

The dragon's eyes narrowed, and he felt a strange tingling on his back, where a gap in his spikes was present. He shook it off.

"I have no rider, nor do I need one."

With that quote of mindspeech, Guthux reared up onto his hind legs, and his claws glinted as he readied them. A snarl escaped him as he fell foward, attempting to tear Josh to shreds with his massive claws.

He was about to talk back as the great dragon reared upwards, its claws ready to tear him apart, or crush him, which ever came first. Looking around, he quickly ran to the left and hid behind a rock. In the second that he stopped, he figured the dragon could probably sneeze the rock out of the way. Pushing of from the rock, he runs forwards, continuing his charge to the left and finds another rock to hide behind. Taking another left, he could see the side of the dragon...

His target evaded him, but Guthux did not lose track of it. He could smell it behind the rocks, even when he couldn't see it. He watched from the corner of his eye as Josh scampered from rock to rock.

"Coward! Stand and fight with honor!"

The dragon whipped his tail around to meet Josh as the human approached his side.

Josh had briefly paused for thought as the dragon spoke to him through telepathy. Staring at the large dragons eyes, he was about to continue running forwards when he saw Guthux's tail swinging around towards him. With absolutely no time to dive out of the way, or even duck, he swung his forcefield around in front of him, managing to get it only half a metre in front of his body and at a square size of 2 metres.

As Guthux's tail impacted with the force field, it threw Josh backward through the air, at first spinning around once vertically before spinning once horizontally, now upside down flying unceremoniously towards a wall. With his forcefield still out in front of him, it softened the blow as it hit the wall, stopping him just short of it, but the impact force still made him jerk unpleasantly as he fell towards the ground head first.

Only just aware enough of his surroundings, he rotated the forcefield downwards in front of him, making him bounce from the impact and in fact land on his back instead. Still painful, but he was glad to still be alive at least. Laying there, looking up to the sky, he tried to collect enough thoughts together to form some way of survivng long enough to get out of the arena...

The ground rumbled ever-so-slightly as Guthux's large feet took steps to maneuver the dragon towards the ever-so-dizzy Josh. He trundled to a stop directly over the human, front claw in the air.

Without twitching his eyes, his claw descended on Josh, attempting to pin him to the ground unharmfully.

~Hrumph. I had hoped you would put up a better fight than that. I doubt this skirmish has satisfied the arena keepers. Either way, I don't intend to hang around after I've finished you anyways.~

Josh not quite as dizzy as one might expect quickly had to turn his forcefield into a box around him, causing the ground to begin to crack under the weight. Unfortunately, this started pushing Josh down into the ground.

In a moment of inspiration, he slid his dagger from behind him, and forming a small gap in the force field, he tries to force it into the bottom of the dragons foot with everything he could muster.

From experience, he'd known that some dragons were soft on their underfoot. However, he'd never fought a dragon before, but if he survived this, then he knew he would live upto his ancestory as a beast rider.

Guthux withdrew his claw quickly with a small growl of surprise. He studied his paw for a moment, before a small trickle of blood emerged from it. It didn't particularly hurt, all the same, he hadn't expected any resistance. Perhaps there was more fight left in this one.

"Let's see how good that shield does after this," Guthux thought to himself. He drew his head back, and opened his mouth agape. A scorching stream of flame was issued forth from it's depths, targeted directly for Josh.

As to this challenge, if we could postpone its continuation until mon or tues, I would be grateful as i have very limited access and my real life is busy at the moment. So lets say three days have passed-four to finish after the new year...

This is the point in people's lives well only one thing ran through their minds, 'Fiddlesticks'. In something of a precarious situation, one that he had never found himself in, nor expected to find himself in, he didn't particularly have much time to come up with a strategy of escape, never mind retaliation.

Needless to say, he knew that you didn't need a dragons flame to touch you to affect you, the heat alone can roast people alive, he had vague memories of rogue flame spewing creatures, including dragons going on rampages. Rare, but unpleasant.

Taking the initiative, as he knew his force field would be pushed down by the sheer force of the flame, he knew it needed to be channelled elsewhere. It was sometimes worthwhile being the smaller out of a combatant, especially underneath the creature that was trying to burn you alive. Concentrating, he pushes the limits of his forcefield outwards, expanding its width and height. Almost square in shape, invisible to almost all forms of vision.

He forms a wall which joins a curve much like the slides found channelling water into buckets into technologically vacant societies (think water parks - the slides), and curves it back up towards the dragons underbelly, in an attempt to show just what a dragons flame feels like. This, he knew was one of those fifty chances, it would work, or it wouldn't. His faith was being put into the former...

Most of the fire managed to land in the chute, but not all of it. What's more the fire that did strike Guthux had no apparent effect.

"Fool! You think I would be vulnerable to my own fire?! I don't wear this hide just for it's fashionable looks, human!"

The dragon roared angrily and propelled his head, jaws wide open, aiming to rid himself of this nuscience by simply eating him.
