I heard on the news today (Monday actually) that James Brown, the Godfather of Soul has died at 73. He was a true legend. An excellent performer, lyricist and in general a great man. With children ranging from their forties to around one or two years old. It is a loss to the music world, and a loss from a man who provided so much joy, hope and inspiration in his music. Few act can do what he did.

What? No one on here cares about James Brown?!
It is a great shame that he's died, especially since he was performing only a couple of weeks ago at the BBC's Electric Proms. A great talent, and singer of some exceptional tracks, like my personal favourite, Sex Machine "Get on up!".
Who'd have thought that Pneumonia would be the thing which killed him, what with all the drink and drugs he's done in his time, and brandishing shotguns at people who use his private bathroom. _________________ I like big cookies and I cannot lie,

| I care about James Brown. I just didn't know there was a thread for him here. But yes, he was very exceptional. |

Ahh yes, James Brown, I am a great fan of soul, so as you can imagine this has touched me deeply.
His music will live on!
@ Addman: What? I'm afraid you've confused me as to if your celebrating or mourning his death. _________________ I crawl amonst rocks, and I scavenge the sea,

I was just pointing out that with the crazy lifestyle he lead, it's a wonder he didn't die sooner, and from something other than pneumonia. That doesn't mean I didn't enjoy his music or respect his talent and his work ethic in his later years. Many of the worlds greatest musicians have been serial drug abusers, but they still mean something to us with their music.
A clear cut answer to your question would be, a little mourning. Not that I'm crying or losing sleep over it, but it's a shame that he died. _________________ I like big cookies and I cannot lie,
