You'd Be Dead Already

Charlise was an average child, living with average parents.

Then, that fateful day happened, so many years ago, it seems.

People started dropping dead, all over the world. Heart attacks, every time. Criminals, convicted or suspected.

People began to call the unknown person behind this (as it just had to be a person) Kira, the Savior.

Charlise often retreated to the internet on those dark and rainy days.

She began joining sites about this phenomena.

Like her parents, she was distinctly against Kira, and pro 'L'.

Some of the site members from Japan reported L's findings, whenever they were announced to the public. The anti-Kira began to support L, pledging to send anything they find suspicious to the Japanese NPA.

This is how life continued for young Charlise. As she grew older, she became detached from the human world, becoming more and more devoted to catching Kira. She found joy in her work as a percussionist, and often played various instruments in her spare time.

When she was ten, however, something terrible happened.

"Mom, I'm home!"

Charlise walked into the back of her house, dropping her backpack from her exhausted shoulders.

There was no response. This didn't faze her, as she was probably napping.

Casually, she walked into her parent's bedroom. She wasn't there. Neither was her father.

"Mom? ... Dad?"

She began to search the house, though it didn't take her long to find them.

She found her father first, slumped in a chair. His skin was cold.

Her mind raced, before jumping to conclusions.

Kira! Kira did this! He must've made a mistake or something! H-her parents, they couldn't possibly--

She shivered, picking up the nearest phone and dialing 9-1-1 with twitching fingers.

Charlise hated her new foster parents.

They were pro-Kira. How dare they support a serial killer!

Yes, perhaps, the deaths had stopped soon after her parents death...

But he is only taking a break, she knew it!

She knew that Kira is definitely still alive, and about to start on his killing spree once more!

It's not like this is the first time he has stopped, after all, he has taken a few breaks before.

Still, with no suspicious activity to report on, Charlise had nothing to do.

So, she was absentmindedly searching on e-bay.

Hmm, what's this?

Even if it was fake, it's an attack on her parents, so she bought it.
