How are we going to play this out? Should we take a side, then betray them after we've eliminated the others, or should we take on both groups at the same time. Perhaps we should hold out for a little while and then decide?

Either way we need a game plan here.

I suggest we actually start running the Corporation like a business rather than a New Fascist Empire bent on purging the world of so-called mutants. Rather than spending so much time wasting our resources on ethnic cleansing (a duty for blatantly racist governments) we should instead focus on the acquisition of new technologies and the furthering of our income over the next quarter. Market shares! Natural Resources! Bureaucracy! Legal action!

Corporations are not evil in the way it is portrayed through fantasy novels or video games. They exist to maximize profit, not to cause harm. It is a blindness to the consequences of profiteering that lead to environmental disaster, not outright malice. Does the chemical processing plant dump toxins into fresh water because its owners love to see animals suffer and wish to destroy all life on earth? Do the employees who commit these acts enjoy causing widespread devastation? No, and no. The management does this because it is the most effective method to avoid losing money (it is easier, after all, to pay fines rather than to pay for proper waste disposal). The workers are forced to do these jobs or face unemployment in an increasingly competitive economy where jobs do not grow on trees (feeding a family is not easy when one is on the dole). The issue is hardly clear-cut.

Why do we make simply glowering villains? They could be far more frightening with greed than malice.

Well... yeah. We know that. Maybe we should offer job oportunities to the other characters?

Let's face it. Despite how Corporations really are, we were created as villans for that purpose. If you asked me, "what does the Corporation do?", I could not give you anything more than a vague answer:

"We are a conglomerate."

"We are here to develop the Dojo for profit."

"Go home before I have security escort you out."

We were not meant to succeed. The whole "Good over Evil" thing is prominent here at Blackstar. We were created as villians, not as a Corporation. The Corporation is basically our mask. As at least you know, Lordy, I am not the creator of this character. I did not choose this mask.

However, I am all for changing that. If we change our styles to be more of a corporate powerhouse and less of a ghost buster team, perhaps we could create characters that are more beleivable. I am unsure how such a change would affect our participation in role plays.

Right now I would guage us as "Mantis" style. Such a change would place us in either the Owl or Spider styles. Which does your proposal redirect us toward?

If you'll pardon my interruption, I have been watching this thread.

I am a little fuzzy as to what exactly the Corporation is supposed to be developing the Dojo into. Obviously, it is for the profit of the organisation. And I believe one of the original goals of the original creator of both The Corp and Michael Rawlings was to steal Psychotopian technology.

So what are we supposed to be developing it into?

Overpriced flats? (Always a popular choice around my area)

Factories?

Offices?

Holiday Homes?

Some sort of vacation spot?

An amusement park?

Perhaps a combination of all of the above?

Wouldn't that be ironic. Death and destruction just so we can develop the place into an amusment park.

Overpriced anything would suit my fancy, but something that keeps on giving is far more productive, like the factory for instance. I am unaware how DP intended the Corporation to develop, however I do beleive he would leave the decision up to us.

So would you like to simply start building a large factory that covers the whole of the Southern Desert or something to that effect?

Yes, that would indeed be ironic, that's partially the reason I put that up there. As well as throw a few ideas into the works.

Hmmm... Us developing something like that would be a start, wouldn't it?

Perhaps we should start an RP in there for it?

Or perhaps 'invade' an already existing RP to mention the looming factory and construction work going in their midst?

Hmm. Twenty-five yearz to begin developing ze dezert? I doubt zat to be realiztic. I agree, ve muzt bring about a new front. I have a vague idea. Perhapz you vould be able to add zis idea.

Ve begin developing ze dezert after discovering zeveral fuelz, including Coal and Oil. Ve begin to cover ze dezert into oil pumpz and factoriez to split down ze kindz of oilz and packaging.

Ve begin to cut down ze trees in Evergreen Gladez and ze Black Forezt for wood to zell as furniture, fuel and ornamentz.

Ve alzo begin an azzualt on ze frozen plainz in order to search for any hidden fuel (thuz cauzing flood damage?).

Az ve begin to clear ze Black Forezt, ve begin building an amuzement park. ve turn ze Evergreen Gladez into a thriving metropoliz, rivaling zat of Psychotopia, perhapz even bigger? Zen, az ze pierce de reziztance, ve invade Psychotopia?

Zis, could be ze makingz of Corportate Developmentz Three?

Well, we might have it so we have already developed an area. Perhaps having the Dojo off and busy with the war has kept them distracted enough for us.

The Concordat wrote:

The year is now 28 AB. The Dojo has been fighting a losing war with the Concordat for 7 long years.

...

Oddly enough, the Corporations have not been seen in these years of conflict, for better or for worse.

7 years of distraction? Us not being present? This seems like the perfect plot hole to insert ourselves.

However... if we want to develop in the present, I am all for the creation of a Corporate Development 3. Perhaps a subtitle is in order?

I do not understand The Concordat's intentions, but I do believe that was the way he wished the plot to unfold.

I like the subtitle. Creative, Till. Laughing

Interesting title there.

Hmmm... Now why would we have been absent for so long in Concordat? Although the Concordat glassing planets would be of concern to a company that wanted to develop those planets, since after that they'd be completely useless to us.

I'm sure we'd have a string of planets under our belts by then, either fully developed or being developed...

It did say that both the Dojo and the Corporation had been colonizing worlds for the past 20 or so years. That would give us plenty of time to develop our own solar system, if you will.

I agree. But, we would have still kept some of those lands and developed them into resource producing facilities, like factories. However I would imagine a vast amount of the land would have been sold.

I am not certain what we are to do in that thread, personally I would prefer to be left to our own devices. However, I agree that there is something we should either find, or create. If our current technology is not enough to stop them, then perhaps we need to rely on something else.
