A Stroll & A Flight Of Fancy

((This thread is for myself and Swix to exercise two of our characters... But feel free to observe in character... I'm looking at you Swix - ready for the challenge...? ))

A man looking in his mid twenties is near the training lodge, having seen advertisements for people to go and exercise, and develop their skills. Their was a shadow that seemed to pass over him, but looking up, the sunlight was blinding his strange looking eyes. They almost seemed like compound eyes.

Looking back up at the lodge, he comes into a clearing when his body starts to ripple for some reason. It looks as though the man is concentrating on something, and his body doesn't sit quite right.

Stopping for a moment, he breathes in the fresh air, and takes in the scenery. He also tries to listen out for other animals, especially the bird song...

((I'm ready, you know me. Time to introduce everyone to Harpy [look at GBE's sig link, I'll transfer Harpy's profile later]. Everyone, meet Harpy lol. Oh and, she's a vain showoff lol))

*A giant golden eagle circled above the lodge. Golden feathers ran down it's body, and it's hooked beak looked polished. The birds wings stretched out wide, at least 15 foot was taken up by a single wing, and it's huge bright green eyes scanned the ground below it. It found what it was looking for, a young man in perhaps his twenties stood looking at scenery. The giant eagle snapped it's wings together and dived, only to open them at the last moment and speed over to where the man was. It let out a cry as it approached from behind. Harpy wanted to startle the man before she hit*

Kafka's heart almost skipped a beat heard a strange screeching sound. Every hair on his body, especially on the back of his neck. But, reacting instictively, he spins as he drops down onto the ground, allowing him to find out what was trying was coming at him.

The bird like creature glides past him, missing by inches. But the man's vision was quick enough to detail what it was. Rolling over, to see it having gone past him, he begins to panic. An avian creature. This was no good for him.

He gets himself into a crouched kneeling position and begins to think through his strategy...

*Harpy misses, she holds in a screech of frustration as she skims the man. She tilts her wings, one up and one down so she turns around at high speed. This time coming from the front with talons outstretched*

Seeing the avian launching at him at such high speeds gets him worried and sweat begins to run down his forehead. Leaping up into the air above the path of flight, his shirt rips as two arms grow from his body and push through the fabric. His concentration seems to lesson, almost as if this form is easier.

Spinning around in the air, he brings his four arms together, pointing his palms flat towards the creature. From somewhere in his palms or wrists, web is spun into a ball. He brings two of his arms back, and launches the ball of web at the on coming avian...

*Harpy is more than a little startled at how fast this person seemed to move, and this time she does let out her screech of frustration. Frustration compacted as the webbing ball from Kafka hit one of her wings, making it difficult to fly as the feathers started sticking together in the wrong place. Seeing no alternative, the giant eagle flaps to slow herself down and lands.

She then changes, her form becoming much smaller. Wings became human like arms, with golden feathers running down the back of them. Talons became legs, and her beak receded to show a very pretty human face. Feathers that once covered her body receded to show beige coloured clothing, and long golden hair now fell across her back. Harpy still sported over large, bright green eyes and a frustrated look as she started tearing at the webbing stuck to her arm*

Kafka covers his ears as the screech of frustration echoed of the trees, high pitches aren't his thing. Once the avian had stopped, he lifted his head to see it land.

Blinkingly staring at her, he couldn't believe that it was transforming into an humanoid form, and he couldn't deny the elegance of the woman either. Quickly, his mind snapped back to the fact she tried to attack him.

As she was distracted with the webbing on her arm, he takes the time to stalk towards her, his posture and form becoming more aggressive. He gets nearer, and prepares to encase her in more webbing......

*Harpy in humanoid form tears at the webbing, just managing to get it off. Turning round to look at the thing that had just messed up her flight path, her large bright green eyes widen as she notices he's come very close to her without her noticing. Almost without thinking about it, she quickly moves to the side so as to just barely avoid more webbing that would be thrown at her. She glares at Kafka*

You, you're not what you seem to be, are you?

[GBE]

Kafka is stunned at the avian's voice, trying to think of a repsonse, "I, am not, what I seem? An odd phrase, to come from an avian. A very rare avian...

Do you take glee in attacking others? Or were you intending on feeding on me? Avians are not the only predator within these forests....

What is it you want with me in particular...?"

He tilts his head to one side, and tries to study her, both physically and her motives.... But not one who picks up easily on perceptions, he's at a large disadvantage....

[Swix]

*Harpy merely continues her glaring, pretty face now contorted with a sneer*

You in particular? Absolutely nothing. You just happened to be here at the same time as I did, and I wanted to attack something, that's all there is to it

*The sneer disappears as well as her glare, Harpy's face now resumes it's pretty-ness*

You have seen both my forms. When I first saw you you looked human, now you have extra arms and throw webs. That is what I mean by not being what you seem. As for feeding on you... *she spits, now looking disgusted*... ugh, what a horrible thought. Feeding on you indeed...

[GBE]

Kafka, looking most insulted by the avian's harsh words, "You are not a true avian then. A true avian merely attacks and kills what it feeds upon. But you, are not of this place. A place of peace....."

He pauses, thinking of the place he left, full of war between ani-morphs and different species, cross-species and alien species. Finally, a place of peace, and the first thing he finds, is a fight....

Thinking back to the avian, "Then, if you shall not be dining, then, I msut dine upon you....."

With that, he charges at quite amazing speed at Harpy, and leaping through the air, he grows an extra segment, a giant abdomen where the end of his spine should be. He also grows an extra pair of legs, and his limbs become elongated and muscular.

His facial features change as more eyes appear around his head, he grows two large venom dripping fangs, and sharp hairs begin to protrude from his body.....

Dine on...me?

*Harpy is a little shocked by Kafka's transformation. But not too shocked, she'd been stuck in her own bird form for three days when her power manifested itself. Quickly she moves to the side, she wanted to avoid Kafkas fangs as much as she wanted to avoid being fed upon, they looked poisonous... Unfortunately for her in her smaller human form she moved a bit slower, and Kafka knocked her flying backwards while she changed back to her eagle form, in self-defense this time rather than aggression. Her talons dig into the ground to stop her momentum and she spreads her wings wide, bringing her head down to make herself look threatening. She adds a screech to the mix for good measure as she does this*

Kafka's motion stopped shortly after hitting the avian. Turning around to see her transform back into her avian form, he was unsure of her motives, until she made herself look huge and scary.

Inside, this terrified Kafka as he quickly covered his ears. But, knwoing showing an avian a weakness, especially for his species, he grimaces through the pain.

He gets taller and longer, and spreading his legs apart, making himself look bigger, waving his upper set of arms in the air angrily, tensing all of his hairs and moving his fangs about, he tries to make himself look more aggressive.

He even begins to move towards the avian slowly, in criss-crosses....

*Harpy hesitates, tilting her head in that oh so bird like fashion, to watch Kafka with her bright green eyes as he criss crossed, moving towards her... slowly. If he pounced again she'd take off, for now she wanted to know what he was up to...*

Kafka realised his scare tactic wasn't working, but then, his opponant is an avian. His confidence wasn't completely in his actions. He speeds up his approach into a slight charge at his enemy...

Shouting angrily, "Be gone with you"...
