The Assignment

Alakin jumped in an attempt to dodge Whiteoak's staff, but the staff sliced his foot slightly, causing him to growl in pain. Landing back on the floor, he expelled his poison spines in an arc around him, sprouted wings out of his shoulder blades and flew upwards.

Whiteoak's sight grew dim and dark, he slashed at air, once it felt like he connected slightly, He slashed harder in that direction, but struck nothing. Then he heard feet land and the sound of numerous projectiles flying and striking his armor. One gashed his face, and the acid sting intensified. He pulled it out, and mentally unleashed the spell he had planned to use on Blackfoot, it might be less appropriate, but it could be effective none the less. Sensing the opponents mental energy as the canine being took flight, Whiteoak tried to empathically share with it the “Irony and Aardvarks” spell, it causes the recipient to see the ironic humor in whatever situation they find themselves in and leads to occasional and ill timed fits of uncontrollable and convulsive laughter, coming out when the recipient uses his or her intentional will to begin a hostile action. (lasts two attack attempts if effective.) He then set to work on healing and detoxifying his system.

The spell hit Alakin in the chest, ignoring it, he reached back to his spine again and pulled off another quill, he was about to throw it when he burst into a fit of uncontrollable laughter.

[Shine]

Whiteoak reinforcd his sheilding and turned his thoughts inward, invoking the elemental forces to bring his body back into harmony and wellness. His body responded by quickening the toxin removal process, and repairing damaged tissue. The process was not complete, but it was starting nicely.

Hearing laughter, Whiteoak extended his magical prosthetic hand and set off a moderately wide burst of energy aimed at the sound.

Alakin dropped his quill and attempted to dodge the blast, too slow. The blast scorched the part of his arm, he wasn't laughing anymore. He fell heavily to the floor, getting up, he attempted to expell his quills once more but instead fell to the floor, laughing insanely.

As the healing magic continued to work, Whiteoak could now make out a vague shadow shape on the floor some distance infront of him, laughing. So, again he called on the forces of earth magic, and pulled together the energy of earth, in the form of hydrocarbons, (which have just a touch of fire to them,) and adding the liquidity of the watery elements, as well as just a hint of air; extending his hands, he produced a spray of a light oil, which, the hope would be, would make the floor around his opponent very slippery, and depending on the type of wings, if they are feathery, should gum them up enough to restrict lift.

Alakin had stopped laughing, he tried to get up but only fell down again. Whiteoak had done something to the floor around him, but he couldn't make the air slippery. He beat his wings and felt himself lift off the ground, (the wings aren't feathery, they're more like pteradactyl-type wings, skin stretched over bones and muscles) he attempted to expell his quills oncemore, this time feeling no laughter, whatever had made him laugh was gone. He placed his hands together, as though praying, and cried
"Hajakan Supreme Flame!" flames burst into life around him, moving towards Whiteoak.

The quills rained down on Whiteoak once more, but at the first sound of the whooshing projectiles he raised his metallic hand to cover his face, An ear felt the acidic sting this time. The anti-toxins building up in his bloodstream slowed their progression and the improving vision stopped, but by now he could see light and dark figures. The sudden flare of light told him something was coming. A magical blast of ice water was probably not enough to fully counter "supreme flame," but it proved enough to deflect the flames while he dodged and rolled to the side. Springing back up to a crouch, his staff was ready in the one hand, his prostheses ready in the other. The deflected flames ignited the oily mess on the floor beneath Alakin ((what happening to your feet??))

The flames from the ignited oil scorched Alakin's feet
"Ouch! Damn you!" he shouted to Whiteoak, flying higher. However he hadn't noticed the ceiling appraching fast, he hit his head on it , fell down to just a foot or so away from the flames and got a burnt back. He flew back up, more carefully this time and started launching quills at Whiteoak.

[Shine]

The quills, again, were not unexpected and Whiteoak was not appreciating their painful acid burns. It will be a while before he can heal up all the new scars, but he is ready this time. Base end of the staff forward, he initiates a wide spread-pattern "repulse beam" pulse. A sort of wave of repelling energy bursts forward. It should intercept the quills and scatter them backwards towards Alakin, some of the waves impulse energy will also get to Alakin, not hard, but it should buffet him about and shake him up good, unless Alakin can counter somehow.

Whiteoak's eyes were clearing up now, he blinks them a few times and can basiclally make out his opponentnt.

"Well well, I believe I have met your two feuding brothers. You must be Alakin. You fight well for someone who is trying to avoid his destiny."

Alakin was temporarily startled by Whiteoak's unexpected knowledge of his past. However this suprise was quickly ended as the quills was back towards him, along with the impulse energy wave. He flew to the side, avoiding the quills but putting himself in the path of the wave. He was shook around, during which he said
"Feuding brothers? I have no brothers."

[Shine]

Holding both arms infront of him, hands facing inward and slightly forward, he begins to power up an elemental magic assault.

"I guess I don't know for sure that they are your brothers, but I've worked with both Syui and Kiiu and you look the spittting image except for color and that marking on your forehead"

With that, he grunts a little as the final exertion and concentration produces a whirling wind, that intensifies and focuses into a tight, powerful whirlwind about ten feet tall, and four feet wide at the top (about 2 at the bottom), into which he also mixes small obsidian shards. He keeps both arms up to control it and to keep the shards from flying out. He holds it midway between himself and Alakin.

"I would really avoid that if I were you. It has sliced to death tougher characters than you."

((I think that that will make about ten posts. That has been the standard for getting medals in a thread, I bet it will be enough for the belt standard too although I don't know. We can keep going if you want, or try for the belt. Let me know.))

"Oh, Syui and Kiiu, they're more like extremely distant cousins. I've only met them once or twice." Alakin said, as he moved slightly away from the whirlwind.

The shredder-whirlwind is swaying back and forth to contain Alakin and force him backwards. Whiteoak mentally casts a “Long Dark Night of the Soul” spell on him. It is a spiritual/mental energy draining spell which causes loss of purpose and a great lethargy, Like a spiritual black hole, it sucks energy out of a being so it just doesn’t care about the things that seemed important to it before. In beings where good resides, this usually precedes a time of personal growth and a reordering of priorities into a new spiritual level, but in evil, aggressive or chaotic beings this next stage is not possible, and it just drains the heck out of them. In either case, for now, it leaves them with a strong feeling that they just want to go back to bed and pull the covers up over their heads and shout “go away” whenever their roommates knock on the door ( is that too personally revealing?) They would see the ultimate futility of all their efforts and would have an overriding urge to throw down their weapons and leave the battle field. ((If this spell hits you and is effective, after you recover from this in a couple of posts you should improve yourself in some way mentally/spiritually as an indication of this maturity of life stages.))
