I'm interested in competing in the Blackstar Stock Market, but I really don't want to compete with the Market, if it's just based on Random Numbers.
Is there a way that it can be based on the amount of money a certain corporation owns? I.E. Collective amount held by the members? _________________ I LIVE. |

Sorry, I don't quite follow you. I took economics (I dropped it for a reason even now I don't quite understand) and could give you a hand with the system. The Sensei (aka DP) spoke with me about this: apparently they've fixed some bugs with it so that the market values don't fluctuate so much anymore.
Simply put: watch the market over a couple of days. Buy a stock while it is at a low point, and wait it out. Then, sell when it's high.
There's no way we could set market values on anything other than random numbers. In business, a corporation's market value is set by the demand for the corporation's good or service.
Let's say two corporations, Fisheez Inc and Stick-o-rama Inc, are in the business of selling fish sticks. Both of their products are the exact same, at first. Then Fisheez comes up with a new recipe that is so much tastier than before, making more people buy their product. Fisheez stock would go up in comparison to to Stick-o-rama (stick-o-rama may lose business in this regard, causing some stock drops).
Then, Stick-o-rama discovers a way to produce more stick faster than their competition. Stick-o-rama may face a stock increase, while Fisheez does not change. Fisheez copies this technology, giving them a heads up with their better taste, giving them a one-up.
A fire caused by unsafe work practices causes Fisheez to lose stock value. Stick-o-rama's board of directors gets caugth in a drunken binge, their stock values drops. And so on.
We'd need admins to run the market 24/7, modifiying everyone's stores as their reputation goes up or down. Too much work.
Sorry Fort, but random numbers would work best. Unless we base our stock on real-world market values.... _________________ "The tragedy of Canada is that it could have had British culture, French cuisine and American technology. I wasn't thinking along the lines of reputation, but on the amount of money the store gains from items being bought, or, through the amount of money held by each member.
Basicaly I was thinking extra money = extra stock increase
But this is what you say is the entire problem of the matter, which I don't fully understand.
Are you saying there is no forumla that can be used to work out the stock through the amount money the corporation gets? _________________ I LIVE. |

I'm sure a formula could be arranged, but it'd take a hell of a lot of work. And while it would be a fun experiment, it's perhaps something that should be low on a priorities list. _________________ ...And that's how it ended. |

plus, 10% of the store profit could up the stocks instead of adding to the owner's money, while decreasing inflation.
hrmm...
[Brain hurting stuff]
HS = Hypothetical Stock
TOS = total of stocks
s m v c n x z d = Variables
okay, now for the actual calculating
HS = s
HS store = 3 items for m each
1 bought for m
m - v% = c
c goes to HS store owner
v% of m = z
z \ TOS = Hypothetical number (x) Probably fraction
HS = HS + x
therefore HS equals x
but now to decrease value...
then n% of TOS = (d)
TOS - d = new stocks
[/Brain hurting stuff]
I know nothing of coding or economics, but i tried...
EDIT: and for a stock of a clan or somthing without a store...
[Even more brain hurting stuff]
TOP = total of posts by clan members since last stock change
HCS = Hypothetical Clan Stock
TOS = total of stocks
s m v c n x z d = Variables
v% of TOP = m
m + HCS = new HCS

DP: We could tie shops to stock corporations or vice versa, and have an inrease of one in the stock for that corp whenever stock was bought from that shop, and a decrease of one every N hours that nothing was bought from the shop, or have it run for every N items bought in a different shop with a linked stock corp. It's simple, and it would work. _________________ ...And that's how it ended. |

I"m working up a different formula that ties the stock to the associated account's net worth...or in the case of groups, that group's average net worth.
However, said system will be a LONG time in the works. _________________

Do you mean I made an interesting suggestion?
Woot!
@Zerrer: That's very complicated, and so uncomprehendable to the mere slack-jawed Yokel like me it has got to work! _________________ I LIVE. |

Three things to add here:
1)Holy Crap it's Uncle Asriel.
2)Zerrer, please make that image in your sig a little less wide, not all of us have widescreens.
3)I suggested this a few months ago when the system was first being made, but DP said NOOOOO, Goron isn't good enough for me to listen to him. _________________ ~Goron~

i decided to try making the thing actually comprehendable. lets see if it is with less variables
Hypothetical Stock = 156.2
Hypothetical Store has 3 items for 1000 yen each
1 item bought for 1000
1000 yen minus 10% = 900
so 900 yen goes to the store owner
while we divide the rest, (100) by the Total number of stocks in the whole thing = 5000, so 100 \ 5000 = .5
then we add .5 stocks to the hypothetical stock
therefore Hypothetical Stock = 156.7
but now to decrease value...
then 1% of Total Stocks = 500
then we remove 500 from all stocks (not individually, but collectivly)
i hope it's legible now..
oh, and goron, i didn't see your post so don't get mad.. _________________ http://zerrer.deviantart.com/
