Am I the only person who finds these new belt styles, animal descriptions and colour schemes confussing?
A hell of a lot of work has gone into them though.
To quote DP(The Sensei) on my Battle Monkey game rules:

It's not too confusing, though looking through the older discussion thread for it must be.
Basically, Colour = skill rank, Animal = RP Style.
Anybody have any idea which Style they feel that they fit into? Or want to get a better idea of which style they fit into? I might not be able to help everyone with everything, but I can at least tell you whether you might be a Mantis or not . _________________ If I'm not here, I'm probably over at...

It is complicated, more complicated than before, but the new system should also make things a lot more manageable around here.
1. Belts actually mean something more than how much you spam the board.
2. The work in managing these new belts is divided amongst the Style Senseis'.
3. Most of the users here are familiar with games/RPG systems, so the new Belts should be moderately familiar.
Anyway, if anyone has questions, please ask and I'll add the answers to the FAQ section. _________________

If somebody can work out what i am,then i'd be happy. So far i don'y have a CLUE what belt would suit me.
Maby i should just stay at the highest non-clan belt and save myself time . _________________

I'm trying to put together a personality test to help people determine what style suits them.
But basically its like picking a character in DnD or something. You think about your approach to RP'ing: do you want to charge in and do some damage to an opponent, do you want to hang back and wait for the oppertune moment to attack? Maybe you aren't so bothered about fighting and you'd rather get an interesting storyline going.
Just think about how you like to approach and RP, then pick the style thats closest to that.
Alternatively look at the requirements for advancing in each style and pick the one you think would be easiest.
Chances are if its easier for you to do thats because it fits the way you RP.
The only part thats confusing for me is when people keep using Japanese names for diffrent styles. I don't know a word of Japanese so I have to keep going back to find a post where both the Japanese and English names were used to find out what people are talking about. _________________ Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to decieve ~ Sir Walter Scott

I have no clue what belt fits me. Trace is mostly monkey, but with his tech, he might be a mantis. As for Natu, he is a ninja, but when coming to blackstar. His ninja skills were weaker, he will help others in groups.
What do I fit in? _________________

| Personally, I have no idea what my current chars (Felinedae, Leporidae, and Offa) would fit into as a whole. I was going to suggest a personality test for the belts system, but Danikat was getting it done before I had a chance to suggest it. Heh, same frame of mind. Although, I have a slight feeling that the Mantis style would fit best for my charatures. Leporidae and Felindae don't have very many powers, so they stick with weponds. And as for Offa, although he uses mostly magic in combat, he requires flora of all kinds. And to fight off anything his plants are weak to, he uses a simple dagger with a cream handle. So mantis would probibly fit me best. |

You can earn any number of belts, and with permission from Style Senseis, you may advance in multiple disciplines (though you have to meet the requirements for each individually). See Blackstar Information, Belts post, FAQ section. _________________

Do you know when this new system will be put in effect (when we can start training)? _________________ If people are good only because they fear punishment, and hope for reward, then we are a sorry lot indeed.

You can also go in for the Chameleon class, which is for people who use many diffrent characters that can be any style.
Although advancing in that style might be harder. _________________ Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to decieve ~ Sir Walter Scott

Indeed. Those who truly find they use many styles should choose the Chameleon class.
It is harder to advance in, but you don't require multiple black belts to qualify for the Master's Guild entry. _________________

On the contrary.
I currently wish to work my way up each belt, until I am black in every style.
Then I will truely fit my current position as Sensei of the Masters. _________________ Shaon Galatea -- Artist | Musician | Radio DJ | Voice Actor | Writer |
