I've noticed a lot of people mentioning a need for good spelling and grammar in RP's, and in the board in general and I was thinking it might be useful to have a definition of what exactly 'good' means.
I tend to be pretty relaxed about it, as long as the post is readable I'm not overly worried about the odd misspelling, a lack of capital letters, correct comma use or full stops at the end of a paragraph. (Although it does bother me when they don't put them at the end of a sentance within a paragraph because I read it all as one sentance.)
But apparently some members have higher standards and since I'm the training mod (and on the trainers list for both rules of RP and story development) it would be useful for me to have an idea of the sort of standard the Dojo as a whole expects. _________________ Oh what a tangled web we weave when first we practice to decieve ~ Sir Walter Scott

To be honest, the kind of mistakes that could simply be fixed by copy-pasting into something like Word are the ones that irk me the most. I don't mind nearly so much if it's just in general chat, but if I can't actually read or understand what people are doing in an RP, it can be seriously annoying.
Things I'd prefer to see in people's RP posts:
* basic spelling = mispelling something difficult like 'onomatopoeia' or simple typos are ok, but you shouldn't have too much trouble spelling most words. Either copy-paste into something with a spell check or look it up in a dictionary.
* logical sentance formation = so many times I read a sentance and have no idea what the person's getting at. Something like 'using sentances logically is a best way to make a good formation' is not the easiest way to get my point across.
* commas and full stops = use a full stop when you've finished a sentance, think of a comma as half of a full stop.

| If I want to make more than one point, or perhaps just want a slightly longer sentance, it's usually best to break it up a little with commas. |

| Usually a good way to tell where to put a full stop in your sentance is by reading it aloud. Put a full stop wherever you feel the need to take a breath or pause for a moment. |
Well, that's how I use them most of the time - others might use them differently >_>. There's probably a few other things I could mention, but these are just some basics. _________________ If I'm not here, I'm probably over at...
