G'day one and all, I call this meeting today in order to bring a new suggestion to you all. It's something I've been thinking on, and would technically, need its own group area thingy mabob. Aside from my complicated terminology previously used I hence forth provide my explanation:

The Arena:

Right, basically, this is an area in which anyone can challenge anyone as they so choose. This will either be a yes, or a no with an 'explanation' of why not. I know we've got the training area and the wilds.

However, the wilds is really for storylines and plot-development so far as I can tell. And the training dojo isn't really a competetive section, more of a character development area.

What I'm proposing is, an area that runs out of line of anything happening on blackstar. It has no bearing on roleplay or training, although, if your character does develop, go ahead and roleplay those developments realistically.

But this area, essentially, is a place to challenge someone, purely if you just want to challenge someone out of interest, out of a grudge, to test yourself against someone, or whatever. The bonus if this area, is that whatever happens here has no affect elsewhere, so even death ain't all that bad. Also, if your character and someone elses character have never met, or will never technically meet for whatever reason, then this is again useful.

It requires no explanation other than a challenge arena, no plausible explanation required (ah-ha, goodbye nit-picker!!!!!!).

The combatants, however many there are, sort out their own rules for the match up. Whether they each have a post limit, whether you win by quality of posts, length of posts, knockout, death, or give up/tap out.

Tap out runs on two basis, IC and OOC. If you give up IC, goodbye win, goodbye credibility. An OOC give in, requires a suitable explanation, such as not enough time to get online, lack of access, holiday, uni, whatever.

Combatants can also choose if they want to be judged on their performances. This, will require before hand, volunteer judges. Only those who regularly visit the site, and have a decent strength of roleplay (or when the belts come in, green (I think) or higher can be judges.
The moderator of the section must also be a judge, since they are modding the area.

When it comes to having a judge, a post limit or day limit will be required. A further agreed stipulation could be that of each post is individually judged should both combatants agree upon it. They can choose however many judges they'd like depending on how many volunteer.

This will be run independantly of any olympics, and benefits to others, would be the gambling den, obviously for bets. Street-cred (so to speak, and general respect from other rpers). Also, if you have a spirit rank, and you manage to defeat an opposing spirit rank or someone a belt or so higher than you, it could work in your favour for belt advancement. (This would require the belt Sensei's to be judging over the event if its for advancement).

Anyways, its an outline. I'll leave the decision of paid posts for the admin team to discuss. This is something I've been thinking about this week, and would really, really like to see this go through (I jinxed it now momma lol)

I love this idea, I think that you have put a lot of thought into how this will work, and it seems like a very fun idea indeed. I especially like the whole part about setting up judges and the like.

It would be good if we could get a boxing style championship going, in that one person takes the championship belt, then other Blackstarians can challenge the champion for a chance to take away that belt. Perhaps a rule that the champion must accept all requests and defend the title.

Addwoman, I like that idea. All day, I'm going to be thinking up several belts, the rules to go with those belts, and how we implement those belts.

I can see where you're coming from with the betting problem 3kul. So, I guess the runner of the bookies would need to consider this themselves, and make their opinion known. Rather than a decision be made without their input.

Anyways, people will certainly be watching these match-ups, and will be able to complain to an admin or mod if they think somethings up. If this goes through, I will put myself up for modship alongside any other volunteers. You make an ida, you carry its burden

I'll also volunteer myself up as a judge. Besides. DP watches who's borrowing what, especially a certain person with an obsession of "Giggity" If anyone suddenly has a huge windfall because of a last minute bank loan/bet, it will be called into question.

I'm pretty sure both admins have a record of who's borrowed what, transferred what where and the like....

A brief idea of different match-ups are as follows, subject to idividual rule-changes, admin/mod suggestions and general submission of better/additional ideas.

Single:
One on One: Basically one roleplayer, with one character versus another roleplayer with one character...

Possible titles for grabs:

Yellow belt champion.
Green belt champion.
Blue belt champion.
Brown belt champion.
Black belt champion.

For these belts, it doesn't matter what clan/class/style you practise, they are up for grabs!

Clan/Class/Style Championships:

Basically, these belts remain within one style of roleplay and are up for grabs. Individual rules will apply.


Tag Team:
One on two/three: One roleplayer with one character against either three others with one character each, two, one with two characters, or one roleplayer with three characters...

Two on two/three/four: Either one roleplayer with two characters or two roleplayers with a character each against again, either one roleplayer with two characters or two with one each.
Just apply the same rule of thumb for the other options...

Tag-Team Championship belts: I'm restricting this, by saying that these titles are up for grabs by absolutely anyone regardless of class/style/clan and/or belt colour.


Other belts to be considered aside from the above ones, that can be incorporated into various different match-ups are:

Shapeshifters Championship Belt: We have a few shapeshifters around, and as such, I bet this is a coveted title to say the least.

Mages (or other magical being) Championship: This is for any being able to cast spells, use magic, conjur up tricks and suchlike. Regardless of how you spell mage and magic, this title will certainly be a spell bindingly match to watch.

Techno-Masters Championship Belt: For any technological being, or those with a keen sense for using technology, this is for you. Can you out create and out do your mechanical opponants.

Elemental Championship: We have a few elemental beings spread around. It'll certainly be interesting to see the varities of match-up spread out through this one. Will different elementals finally overcome their weaknesses...?

Insanity Championship: This, I've created especially for DP. Can you out-do your opponants insanity. Can you act sane for the first time in your life. Or, maybe, just maybe, its ultimate escape from the ultimate asylum. (Require an interfering judge!).

I'm sure there are a few other different championships to be thought off. These belts will only be created if the admins agree if it is an interesting idea. These belts will either have to be badges (like the EC/Gaurdians badges) Or be a special item in the roleplayers inventory.

Another idea was to put up special items to win (courtesy of donations from those with shops who'd have to contact Embers). Or perhaps there is already something in your inventory that somebody would like to win.

I have an item or two in mind I'd put up for grabs.

Anyways, could all those who wish to be judges for this (so Challengers know who they can ask to be judges for them) please post here.

I'll compile a list. If I get no volunteers, I'm pretty sure Admins and Mods will bugged until someone accepts the position.

Judging will only be necessary if someone wishes to be judged based on points system, rather than knockout... The challengers will have to decide amongst themselves what rules they wish to go by, and post that in the first post in their thread.

I will be putting my name forth as a judge, and mod of the board.... I've spoken with Swix and she has also offered her services as judge and if it alright with DP/Embri, would there be a joint mod position for her on that board also....?
