Why do some posts get points now and some don't,
and why did they choose the ones they did,
and how (if at all) does this help the inflation problem?

I'm not sure... originally, the change was to have only the Training Dojo give out money... and I still think that's the best thing to do.

However in undoing the changes, DP undid almost everything.

I'd prefer to go back to the Training Dojo is the only cash board status.

So I see that many of the changs have been un-done. I have mixed feeling about that. I understood the reasons for it and it is true that in some posts misspellings and power playings and that kind of stuff made things less enjoyable.

I would encourage the kinds of changes that had been made, but maybe with a little more playing area for the new folks, and maybe with a bit more notice. But the reasons were valid, and I hope that a modified version is being considered. It would be too bad if complaints and rotten tomatoes put an end to a basically good intention.

Danikat: Hence the minor/major spelling errors. The idea is that a minor spelling error isn't worth worrying about, but a major spelling error which renders a word unreadable is. On the subject of 'Karma' systems, I think that may be because no-one knows how to use them. On websites like Digg or Slashdot (which, although they aren't forums are still in a way like giant forums), the karma system is clearly labled and usage of it is encouraged. Perhaps an award system would help enocourage users to rate posts they liked.

The fact of the matter is I don't like to tell someone how good or bad their post is. It's almost like judging a person on that one post rather than all of the posts they have done, which might not be as bad. There's also the fact that I'm scared that all my posts will get a bad rating.

I don't think a post by post rating is going to work. Firstly there's the problem of proper names / foreign language words which will not be accepted by the filters, and it's pretty complicated to create a MOD that would do such a thing, unless it already exists. Even then, DP is up to his literal eyeballs in college assignments, not to mention all the MODS which are already scheduled to be installed/maintained. (Some of you may notice that Prillian is still installed, though unavailable...)
