Unique Attributes: Long three-fingered tentacles protruding from jawbone used for grasping, sabre teeth, and color-changing, movable horns used in communicating emotions, like a wolf's ears.

Diet: 77% meat, 23% plants

Description: Long ago, Ormag were used as slaves by a traveling race of aliens, due to their endurance and physical strength. These slaves often would escape on worlds other than their own. The alien slavers went extinct long ago, but the Ormag still live. On the different worlds, they followed different technological paths.

Ormag have a social heirarchy that is quite similar on all their worlds. Artists and musicians are second only to the ruling classes, while soldiers and merchants make up the middle class, and farmers and peasants make up the lowest class. All classes are given equal rights and laws apply to everyone, including the ruling class. All the children are given equal educational opportunities, and schools are inexpensive to attend.

The schools sound great, until you figure out that it lasts for eleven months out of the year, and weekends apply only every other week. But there are still breaks for significant holidays.

Ormag are known for their artistic ability, in almost all fields of it. Some of the Dojo's best writers, poets, musicians, and painters are Ormag. In fact, the popular Ormag poem "Look to the Rising Sun" was written by one. A child, no less.

Ormag worship the same pantheon of gods no matter what culture they are from. This religion was spread through the slaves that escaped. However, different cultures look to different gods as the chief god. The most dominant culture, the Miskites, worship Misk, the god of the sky.



Misk is typically depicted holding the sun and moon in his claws, with tentacles outstretched to welcome anyone willing to repent for their sins and accept the gods into their heart. It is said that the gods created the Ormag in their image, except for one thing: Their legs. The gods did not want to have Ormag with their heads close to the sky (bipedal) so they made them close to the ground (quadrupedal) to keep them humble.

Ou is the son of Misk. He is the god of the sun. (The reason Misk holds the sun is because it is night.) He is typically depicted with the wings and legs of a large bird, and he carries the sun in his talons. He is a brutal god, who takes great pleasure in sending nightmares to those desert Ormag who do not worship him, and eventually torturing and killing them.

Ormag who live in the desert worship Ou as the chief god. They take the word "zealot" to the extreme. Everything in their life revolves around religion and worship of Ou, from weddings to wars. They believe that their way is the only right way, and that Ou created everything, even Misk (they do not believe that Misk is Ou's father). They are known for killing Ormag of other ethnic groups or religions and removing the skull, and pouring that Ormag's blood on the skull. This is supposedly pleasing to Ou.

Desert Ormag priests often bear many piercings and scars carved in patterns. These priests believe that the more pain and suffering you go through for Ou, the better you are in his eyes. Desert Ormag are a lot to be avoided.
