The Expedition Gone Wrong

Alec finally reaches the group. Remembering Embri had arranged this little expedition, he runs over to her, but not out of breath, which is unusal for a scientist. "I suggest we move everyone further down the side of this mountian. We are on a mountian. A large one.

I have been detecting some kind of noxious fumes." He pauses as his device starts beeping at him. Picking it up, it has the Pikachu on sensor, being scanned nearby, and also that several group members including Kaz and Embri are being affected.

"It appears to be affecting the group members. If we stay, all of us will be affected." He looks at the tigress, and scans her, nothing apparently unusual about her.

*Angels head seems to be clearing as she sweeps above the mountain side. her flare is already fading but she dosent worry about it, she has spotted something.

she grins triumphantly and falls into a spiraling dive towards the waving figure. as she nears, a shrill voice confirms that it must be her. she pulls out of the dive a few yards from Az and lands with barely a sound.*

AZ?! oh, finaly! are you ok? unhurt?

Melody had run into the clearing after Alec, and stopped to stand near the others. After hearing what he had said to Embri, and coolpikaaa's mention of a plane, she spoke out.

"It might be best to move everyone away from here. I can come back later, try to find anything of use. The fumes shouldn't affect me much."

*Az's hand tentatively touches the side of her head where she'd been cut, and it looked as though it was also starting to swell. Although it had stopped bleeding*

I'm okay, just battered and bruised. Dizzy too, very dizzy

*As if her body wished to confirm this fact, the human began to sway, though she caught herself on a branch before she fell over*

I'm glad I'm not alone anymore... Can you take me back to everyone? Or are you alone?

*Angel sees her begining to sway and rushes forwards to catch her.*

no, almost everyone is fine. we're using a clearing as a gathering point, i'll take you there. if you dont mind heights i can fly you back.

*Angel glances at the cut, without healing magic (she dosent even consider Embri, witout leylines it is too dangerous) supplies and dressings in this wilderness even a small cut could end up being very dangerous.

she pulls Az's arm gently over her shoulders*

*Az shook her head, which of course simply made her more dizzy and slump on Red Angel with her arm around her shoulders. Az then mumbles as she rights herself*

*The human made sure there wasn't a chance she was going to fall off Red when they flew, she didn't fancy another bump. The next words she said were more coherent*

Embri glances up at Alec, keeping her head on the ground.

"Fumes? That's silly... I"m a unicorn. I'm immune to poisons of all kinds... except..." The mare reconsiders.

"I've never been in such a mana depleted area. It's possible I may not be protected any more, if it takes power..." She would have shook her head, if it wouldn't have made her dizzy.

I guess I really don't know which of my abilities are passive, innate, and which need power to work... there's never been such a shortage anywhere I've gone.

"You know... that might explain why so many of the animals, in fact all of the ones I've seen, draw power like magnets... they're using it to make themselves immune to the environment."

Tentatively, Embri pushed herself up onto all fours. "I think... I can walk now. The world's stopped spinning, for the moment. Is this gas heavy, and sinking, or light enough to rise, and where is it coming from?"

Kaz looked at Embri "You know... YOu know what you need to do? You just need to lighten up... then you'll feel better. And, uh... fumes?" He paused "Yeah, sorry. I farted..."

*Angel looks with concern at her teammate after the almost incoherent sentance but shakes it off after a moment, this is not the time or place. with one hand behind her back she sweeps Az's legs up in her other arm, amazed at how little the human weighs.*

ready? up we go!

*she backs into a slightly clearer area and beats her wings once, twice, then on the third she jumps, quickly sweeping her wings back again to lift them above the trees. she heads towards the faint shimmer which is all thats left of her flare. she keeps a secure grip on Az's legs and back as they bob up relatively smoothly towards the impromptue base.*

~Embri? how're you feeling? i found Az, quite a bump on her head but otherwise ok, how're things on your end?~ *she tries to keep the mental transmission quiet for the sake of Embri's headache.*

*As Embri stands the Tigress follows suit, looking quizzzicaly at the new arrivals, Melody and Alec, trying to decide wheather they are a threat or not. in the end she settles for a compromise by rearing up infront of Alec, putting her huge paws on his shoulders and licking his face. she drops down again pretty soon, having decided that he must be an ok guy from his taste.*

~I'm okay... I think. I am going to have to keep any power use to a bare minimum, though, or risk another blackout. Alec says we have to move. NOW. Something about this place makes fumes, and it might be what's making some of us act strange.~

Glancing around at Melody, Alec and coolpikaaa, Embri nods towards their impromptu scientist. "You'd better lead the way. Where should we go?"

Looking back at Kazumaru, Embri sighed. "We have to get everyone back together too. If you tie a vine around Kaz, he might at least not wander off."

"You good to walk, Linda? Something's going to have to be done about Blackfoot; he's too heavy to carry. Maybe a sled.... I could drag him. Too bad we don't seem to have anything to make one with."

Linda glanced at kaz,and shook her head.

"Well, i won't be able to keep Kaz moving via a rope or pulling him along. He's sparking, and i've got bare metal over my flesh. I could get him to come with us, but he may get anoyed when he finds out he's been tricked. And blackfoot can use a branch as a crutch for a bit."

She looked at Kaz before she lurched over,and smiled sweetly to him. This would look kinda freaky as she still had some blood on her face.

"Now, if you come with us then we'll do our best to find you some brownies, or at elast somewhere for us to make some. But we can't do it up here, as strange creatures might come and steal them, yes? Come on, stand up and follow the pony. But don't touch her, her doesn't like being touched, yes?"

She glanced at embri to make sure she hadn't offended her by calling her a pony, even if it was the only way to get him moving.

Kaz clapped "I like brownies!" he said, and started following the horsie... making sure not to touch, because as he learned from the Simple English Wikipedia, fire is not to be touched.
While walking, he muttered the lyrics to 99 luftballoons to himself. Occasionally saying "Brownies!"

~OK, makes sense. the mountain looks volcanic from up here, typical slow burner. i'll try and scout out a position away from vents and land lower down the mountain.~

*she gets a firmer grip on Az and banks gently into the wind. it picks her up and turns her the rest of the way and she dives down hill. she carefully slips her vision into the infared and scans the countryside. large, orange plumes of warm gas show up and she swears, they blanket a large portion of the forest and centre around a point a little up hill from where everyone had congregated.

she looks closer and notices thin crack like warm patches, the gas seems to be seeping out of these at ramdom intervals. they radiate from the same centre as the gas in a spider web type effect. she follows the plumes upwards until they cool, around a hundred and fifty feet above the treetops, and she is nolonger able to track them.*

~Embri, i can see the fumes as they come up out of the ground, they are slightly warmer than the air so they rise but once they cool i cant see them, there is no way of telling if the gas will fall back to the ground or not. as for a gas free route... if you head down hill and slightly to your... right, hopefully there wont be too much.~

Coolpikaaa knew they could come back to the plane later,and he also knew the fumes,or whatever else was going on was taking a hold.He saw Kaz gain motivation,and hoped that the fumes wouldn't last long.Following beside Embri,he wandered down the hill.
